I wish there is a way I can open my mind so that someone can walk around and see what I am trying to express to you. Everything I am today is from Nairaland.

You even have multiple accounts with Mercy+whatever, MercyLike, MercySpeak, etc. The moment your MercySpeak logged in, you liked your comment posted by your MercyLike account to make it look like majority are with you.

You people should take it easy with manipulation.
All you could do it to make side comments and still login with your alternates to like your comment. Okay o, continue.

People like you are the reason I reduced my contribution here.
Please do not minimize your contributions here, you know this makes it easier for them to takeover the thread. This is what they want.
I want to believe we know them all by now. it takes a greedy person and someone who do not listen or read at all to be scammed at this point. Especially with the way people keep warning about it.

Please do not beg them to stop manipulation...It takes energy to manipulate and they need to invest their energy somewhere.
Whether Mercycome or Mercygo, if Mercylike Make Mercyjump. Scam is scam and most of them done caste. Thanks to the good guys here.

The Evolution of Nigerian Pounds to Nigerian Naira and Exchange Rates

Starting from 1940 (before Nigeria gained independence), the Nigerian currency and its exchange rate against the U.S. Dollar evolved through significant changes, primarily due to shifts in Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.

Here's a summary of how the exchange rate developed from 1940 to 2024:

1940-1960 (Colonial Era):

Currency in Use: The Nigerian pound (pegged to the British pound sterling) was the official currency.

Exchange Rate: As Nigeria was under British rule, the exchange rate followed the British system. The Nigerian pound was equivalent to the British pound, which was relatively strong.

Around this time, 1 British pound (₤) was equivalent to around $4.03 USD.

1960-1973 (Post-Independence):

1960: Nigeria gained independence and maintained the Nigerian pound, still pegged to the British pound.

Exchange Rate: 1 Nigerian pound = 1.03 USD at independence.

1973: The Nigerian government introduced the Naira, replacing the Nigerian pound.

1 Naira = 2 Nigerian Pounds = 2 USD (approximately).

1973-1980:

Nigeria enjoyed an oil boom during the 1970s, making the naira strong relative to the U.S. dollar.

1973-1980: The naira was almost at parity with the dollar.

1 NGN = 1.52 USD at the time of the naira’s introduction.

By the late 1970s, 1 NGN = 0.65 USD (strong naira).

1980-1990 (Structural Adjustment and Decline):

Early 1980s: Oil prices began to fall, weakening Nigeria's economy.

1981: 1 USD = 0.61 NGN (the naira was still strong).

1985: 1 USD = 3.30 NGN.

Mid-Late 1980s: Due to economic reforms (including a Structural Adjustment Program), the naira was devalued.

1986-1990: 1 USD = 5-9 NGN.

1990-2000:

Throughout the 1990s, the naira continued to depreciate sharply.

1994: 1 USD = 22 NGN.

1998: 1 USD = 85 NGN.

By the end of the 1990s, the rate hovered around 85-100 NGN per USD.

2000-2010:

The early 2000s witnessed more economic instability and inflation.

2000: 1 USD = 100 NGN.

2008: 1 USD = 130 NGN.

2010: 1 USD = 150 NGN.

2010-2020:

The naira depreciated rapidly during the 2010s due to oil price crashes and economic instability.

2014: 1 USD = 164 NGN.

2016: Following a currency devaluation by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), 1 USD = 315 NGN.

By 2020, 1 USD = 360-380 NGN (official rate), while black market rates were around 450 NGN.

2020-2024:

The naira weakened further due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, inflation, and declining foreign reserves.

2021: 1 USD = 400-500 NGN.

2023: Official rates were around 1 USD = 750 NGN, with black market rates crossing 900 NGN.

2024: The exchange rate has reached around 1 USD = 1200-1600 NGN in official markets, while parallel (black) market rates ranges from 1500-1950 NGN at some point.

Summary of Key Exchange Rate Milestones:

1940-1960: 1 British Pound = $4.03 (Nigerian Pound followed).

1960: 1 Nigerian Pound = 1.03 USD.

1973: 1 Naira = 1.52 USD.

1985: 1 USD = 3.30 NGN.

1990s: 1 USD = 85-100 NGN.

2000s: 1 USD = 100-150 NGN.

2016: 1 USD = 315 NGN.

2023-2024: 1 USD = 7500-1600 NGN (official) / 1500 to 1950 NGN (black market).

These changes reflect Nigeria's transition from a colonial economy, oil dependency, and the effects of inflation and economic mismanagement.

With the above, have it in mind that $1 to ₦2000 is eminent and doubling it from ₦2,000 to ₦4,000-₦5,000 is just a matter of 2 decades or a new disaster or another bad leader assuming office.

So, with this, you can easily predict the future. Be a GLE-BOSS for your sake and the sake of your children, grandchildren and generations ahead. That is the only way to protect your money.

Even the Dollar is not safe if you're judging its price against gold or BTC. Now, let's talk about gold and BTC too.

Hello all, hope you all are okay and hanging in here.

I have had a very busy week from Thursday but there is one thing on my mind. I know it to be 101% true but just have not had the time to pen it down, so here, let me leave it here before I become busy again..... since the USA seem to control world's economy and all...

So, unlike the schools in Nigeria, In the USA, the professors are not trying your brain, or trying to make you fail, or trying to retaliate you having a beautiful girlfriend or trying to show you shege. I can keep going...you get the picture . They just want you to prove that you understood the functions of the "hand," for example.... Stay with me...

...and humans are known to have only two hands.
As a medical student, for example, you need to know the parts and functions of the human hands... you need to know the illnesses and the medications that work better. That is all.
Now, since generations, humans have and will only have two hands. This can hardly change...Ever.

Therefore, if you want to be a nurse, doctor, or anything, You need to know all this and Boom! you will pass for sure for sure. Especially if you know this semester contains hands and chest in the syllabus..... stay with me.

So we know the human hands will not change...

Now imagine that your university is 100 years old and have taught medicine for 75 years.
Same questions in different forms only ; the same two hands that humans have and most of the past questions exist... This is the same for most things you study, even for most things in the USA..... Most things in the USA repeat.

Accounting
Stock market.
Housing
deals
just anything....

So incorporate this in crypto...
All you need to do to succeed in crypto is believe, trust and follow the process. Invest in something that will not die, patience, and know when to get out.
That is all, it will all repeat, it takes a very serious unforeseen event for it not to. And no, it will not stop this time just because of you and I.

That is it.

Honestly I am tired of seeing politics discussion on this crypto thread but at the same time I had another thought , shebi na person wey get money go buy coin and be ready for bull run ?? If the country is not good and the sufferings of Nigerians increase , it will also affect Nigerian crypto traders too and they will be so broke till the extent that they would not be able to buy a good coin and get ready for bull run , just 1000$ is now 1.6m and above , how many Nigerian crypto traders can now afford 1.6m most especially after losing so much money during the bear season?? That is why participation in airdrop increased massively. , so discussing about the way forward for this country is necessary because na person wey chop food well go get money to buy coin ..

But I still agree the discussion should be moved to politics section though I enjoyed all the conversations , it shows that this naija matter don dey concern everybody , including some rich people too , some of them are now feeling the heat
cheesy

True and when the bull run comes and some of us make it big, it is those on this thread whose stories we came across on cases like this that we assist and support. Not one new moniker that would suddenly pop-up or some names from political section.

We have enough of this irritating bullshit to contend with in the politics section. For the sake of decency and focus, let's stick to the main issue - when and how the bull will run as fast as its legs can carry.

Which kind wahala be this? This place is supposed to be immune to the aggravating and depressing state of affairs in this shithole country. We can vent about that rubbish in the politics section.

I am so sorry to hear the way you feel but I love your energy. The problem is not you or anyone of us, the problem is where we opened our eyes and where we have to start from. As that moniker said - if we find ourselves in a messed up place, we are messed up if we remain there. But one thing is true in life, which can never change; what does not kill us will only make us stronger.

Japa and do what there?

Do you know how many Nigerian are dying there? ..........you will see Nigerian in UK, US doing 3 to 5 jobs, doing overtime, killing and stressing there body, some don't even have where to stay and some are even jobless after Japa

Too many cases of Nigerians dying over there cus of too much stress and overtime work
This is not true, Sir... or it is just highly overrated. Nigerians are too wicked to one another abroad. Your brothers will treat you so bad, you will start too fear for your safety.

Some of us still kill each other or lead a life we cannot afford. People will go and collect the most recent Iphones and cars every year, especially that yeye Rangerover cheesy. E fine ooh...
You are buying a house in the USA and building a mansion in Nigeria. If you were in Nigeria, could you have done that?

THEN THEY WILL MOVE TO TORONTO AND START SHOUTING "RENT IS HIGH shocked ". What happen to Alberta or Edmonton?

In abroad, if you work 6 jobs in 24 hours, you will be paid.
Since some of us have never seen such a thing, we are so fascinated that we just get carried away and work like jackky...

I came from the poorest of poor, when I say we were poor. I mean mpoortompoor. ...In fact, how I went to university, I owe the school and they had to let me finish so that I can come back to pay. I owe from year 2 till 2 years after graduation cheesy.

I sit-down think this thing, which kind of pikin I wan born like this. No hope ooo. No work after school. My NYSC Allawee was the hope of the whole family. I decided to travel...

Now, when we went to beg for statement of account for my travel, one uncle asked my mother, have you forgotten your husbands last name, how can you ever be thinking that this child is made to be abroad?

Today, if I work one job they pay if, I work overtime they pay. They beg me to come in, I say "No" they leave me alone.
Since I came, it was this May I went to pick up my new car. Before I gree carry am nko? My village people were appearing in my dreams to yab my car. As tall as I dey na kia forte I been dey fold myself enter. I still use my Iphone 14. I nor dey plan to change am this year or next... maybe after bull run.

I am the first graduate,
I am the first person Abroad.
first to use brand new car.
First to buy house.
First to build house.
I have moved everyone abroad.
If fight start, if it is money related, I give money and matter end, love continues.
I am the first crypto bro - them nor understand this one yet. cheesy

My next goal is to create employment in Nigeria and save lives for free. Free water and Education too.
If I was in Nigeria I will never be here.

My mates are in Nigeria, they are stagnant. They are not happy. They are wasting away. They beg for money. The happiness we shared as kids are no longer there. They complain a lot to you. They do... This for the whole lifetime? Why? Because I want to be in Nigeria, feel at home where I belong?

Who told you you belong to Nigeria, and if you do what has she really done for you? Do not answer if you are sentimental.
Home is what you do and where you make it to be.
I cannot imagine living a lifetime, waiting for Nigeria to get better.
It is not fair to you. If you have a way to leave, you know it is legit and you will not suffer. MOVE!

Now, I am the employee of the month, with all the white people wey dey shine everywhere. Me, from where to where?

In the past, our rulers sold us out for slavery but this time we willingly go there to do the same. Same story different century. Or we cannot rule ourselves right but they cannot care for themselves right.. any way you choose to see it.
