How many square KM is Onitsha? There is still ample land in villages around Onitsha for such a project to be sited. Other cities are expanding and swallowing up villages around it, nothing stops Onitsha from doing so.
This Navy project and the Industrial or housing estate you guys dream of are not mutually exclusive so I don't understand what point you and that guy are trying to make.

Onitsha, Aba, Nnewi and other thriving commercial cities need all the protection they can get naval base being one. You forgot in your hatred for anything Igbo that Onitsha has a seaport and business at the port will demand that navy patrols the waters in and around Onitsha to keep pirates like you away.

Every Naval base in the World creates economy in the town they reside.
This also means that we will soon have commercial shipping available in the East because they have to modernize the entire Port and the Government will lease out space to a couple of shipping companies to generate revenue.

Onitsha has a military barrack already and the residents of that barrack with the nigerian police have been more of a liability to Onitsha people,ask people living in that city..police love onitsha cos they make a hell of money there before they either retire or go on transfer same with some of the military guys there.

Onitsha is congested,i expected to see the govt use that land to decongest the city,an almost 1000 unit of houses would go a long way to solving that problem.

There are lots of land disputes around nsugbe and owelle ezukala,most people are moving to asaba cos of that,i know few friends who bought lands and built at asaba.lots more are migrating.

Onitsha is a self made town,the people are self employed and successful,all they want is amenities...let govt provide lands,access roads,water with strict regulation on the buildings...a lot of people would want to build 5 story buildings where duplexes are meant to be.

Onitsha do not need the presence of Navy and their barracks.
