Passion do not get choked. Now look at a detribalized poster and what he said. Go through this thread Igboson first made the remark which all of us already knew. Why didn't you take it up with Igboson? Its not only me that knows that UNN has sunk at all fronts both academically and otherwise. The school has been left behind while still living in the past glory. Below are the universities of the moment; the most sought-after universities in Nigeria! UNILORIN, UNIZIK, UNIBEN, UNILAG! IGBOSON1: ^^^If care is not taken, Nnamdi Azikiwe University will overtake them.....that's if they haven't already! |
Until you win a well-competed scientific award as this you are still a sleeping paper-lion.. ![]() Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has emerged winners of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Imperial Barrel Award competed by African universities. The university came first, scoring 79.33 percent, while Helwan University, Egypt and the Federal University of Technology,Akure came second and third respectively. Eight universities in Nigeria participated in the competition, including Federal University of Technology, Owerri; University of Lagos; University of Ilorin; Enugu State University of Science and Technology; Nnamdi Azikiwe University; Federal University of Technology, Akure; University of Ibadan and University of Calabar. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/unizik-wins-geo-sciences-competition-among-african-universities/ |
@ Passion: What is this that you have up there? Is this supposed to be a scientific award or grant? ![]() Truly you guys 'won' in grand style. Akpu and Okpa style.. ![]() |
I want you to show me similar award won by your paper-lion university since it was created over 70years ago. UNIZIK is barely 20years old or less but it has since staged a dramatic over-take and surpassed UNN and most other universities to come among the top 5 Nigerian universities with high demand due to sound academic excellence and research! passion007: ^^ |
The two universities up there are quite young compare to your old universities that are yet to win a single award since its inception! When we say that UNN has sunk we got our facts right before making such comment! |

A team of young engineers from Nigeria’s Anambra State University won first prize at the inaugural Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Population Challenge at the House of Commons on Wednesday 23 November, for proposals to deal with Nigeria’s growing food crisis. Turning vegetable oil into fuel, making sea water drinkable and starting a rail revolution in the US were also among the proposals submitted by engineering groups from across the world to help society cope with an estimated population of 9.5 billion people by 2100. The winning report, from Anambra State University’s Nuta Bolts engineering group, highlighted the fact that 65% of Nigeria’s food is currently being wasted in a country that is set to more than double its population over the next century. Better storage facilities, measures to stop small-scale corruption and a revamped transport system were all among the proposals. The ideas in the report will be presented to the Rio+20 Earth Summit next June. The final was held in the Grand Committee Room in the House of Commons, and, six MPs including Bob Smith MP, Andrew Mitchell MP, the Secretary of State for International Development and Roger Williams MP, came to hear the presentations, while Chris White MP and Mark Spencer MP joined the winning team members for dinner at One Birdcage Walk. Onyenanu Ifeanyicitukusu, Team Leader of the Nuta Bolts, said: “Food security is the most important issue facing Nigeria, with so much food being needlessly wasted. Yet the technology and the means to stop this waste already exist. “We are very happy to have won this challenge, having spent sleepless nights over the past six months writing this report. We will now go back to Nigeria to present it to the Government.” Dr Tim Fox, Head of Energy and Environment at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, said: “Coping with the world’s population boom over the rest of this century will be the biggest challenge facing society, touching every area of our lives from energy and water supply to transport and the food we eat.Green Engineering (Trinidad & Tobago) “We will all rely on the next generation of engineers to come up with the solutions needed to meet the coming population crisis, which is why it is so encouraging to see such solid ideas and original thinking from the young engineers that took part in this challenge.” Chief Executive, Stephen Tetlow, said: “All the competitors brought a huge amount of intellectual rigour to their reports and delivered great presentations. I advise all the finalists not to stop working on this topic, because it is the most important challenge for humanity. As engineers, we must organize ourselves to deliver the technical solutions required, and work with politicians who have the wherewithal to unlock the problem.” http://www.imeche.org/news/institution/all/11-11-24/Nigerian_engineers_win_global_Population_Challenge.aspx |
You are just empty head. Now you have moved the race to ANSU to the wawa college ESUT that produce the finest cultists ever know to mankind.. ![]() passion007: This was the response I expected... Nothing in particular. You're starting to sound like that Abia otimkpu Obinalihe who just manufactures info whimsically. |
Just look at this dunce. Do you know the stigma that graduates bearing Enugu certificate including those from ESUT, IMT even you so called UNN go through during NYSC? Do you even know how they treat average ESUT or IMT graduates out there? I am ever ready to expose this rot and under performance by Enugu based schools if you push your luck too far! The fact which you cannot hide is that UNN has sunk and it is presently ranked among ESUT, IMT etc.. The only thing going for UNN at the moment is its name and nothing more, every other thing in the school including academic excellence are far gone from the school. Remove that name today it will not be different from ESUT. I will like ndi ofe to come and be our judge. Bring it on.. passion007: You keep staking these false claims. |
That is their argument. At least you know better! The issue is that they forgot that as much as those universities (UNILORIN, UNIZIK, UNIBEN, UNILAG) has more applicants seeking to study there, they still do not take more than their capacities can contain. INNOisBACK: Who are those saying Unizik got more aapplicants because it's easier to get admitted there? You mean it's also easy to get admitted at Unilorin,Unilag,Uniben and UI which carry the highest number of applicants respectively |
IGBOSON1: ^^^If care is not taken, Nnamdi Azikiwe University will overtake them.....that's if they haven't already! It was not today that they overtook them, but UNN can still stage a come-back to its former glory! It takes hard-work and commitment! |
Its only on the internet you can make this sort of noise. The fact on the ground shows that UNN has sunk over the years. Most people just like before naturally do not seek for admission into UNN these days because of decadence in its academic system, the infrastructures are so bad and all. And that is why you cannot find UNN among the first 3 or 4 most sought-after universities in Nigeria. I have told you that am not here to measure d1ck but presently UNN is in the class of ESUT, ABSU, ANSU etc.. My nephew who tried for 3 consecutive times to gain admission in UNIZIK was welcomed on merit at UNN; that is the response to your assertion that to gain admission in UNN is so tight but reality shows the reverse. Those most sought-after universities (UNILORIN, UNIZIK, UNIBEN, UNILAG) has something in common sound academic excellence, good and modern infrastructures, sound lecturers and all. If you think to gain admission into those most sought-after universities is easy go and try UNIZIK at least the one I know of. You will try with your meritorious result for the next 3years without success because there are 1000s of meritorious students just like you seeking the same admission into the same school. I will restate it once again that the only thing UNN has remaining is its name and nothing more; remove that name today you have another ESUT and IMT. The school has sunk in both demand and academic excellence. This is a wake up call for its management to start doing something before it gets out of hand. I was at Nsukka main campus recently the rot I saw in the school is so disheartening that I started wondering what went wrong. The only thing that is still keeping the school on paper is its 'past glory', 'name' and 'age'; outside these 3 factors there is nothing left of the school, its just a paper-lion. christejames: i would take everything u said as a pinch of salt cause deep down your heart you and i know that UNN is the Ivy league of Nigeria. Not being the highest sort after school in Nigeria doesn't mean the education level of the school has dwindled. Those that choose UNIZIK against UNN know very well that the school is very strict and competitive in her PUTME, that the chance of getting admission there is slim. I know of some lecturers children who couldnt make it to UNN but made it into schools like ESUT, UNIZIK (notwithstanding the influence their parent had) so you won't tell us that the education of DEN is deprecating whereas its the nature of her PUTME that is compelling them to such schools. |
This is the only reasonable thing I picked from your post every other comment is still gibberish! Shoe get size but new and portable shoe is better than old and worn-out shoe! Dalu! ![]() Handsomegod: Let us celebrate the excellence in our eastern universities and cease making a bundle mockery of ourselves in these needless jabs. |
You are not making sense at all. I only mentioned the individuals I know of. It does not mean that Dangote and Dantata etal has no structures to their names in UNIZIK. Now you are mentioning the people that have graduated from UNN, you see we are on the same page; which is that UNN is merely existing at the moment. Its no longer as thick as it used to be 20-30years ago. What we are saying is that even among the most sought-after universities by the university applicants presently UNN is not on the first 3. The first 3 most sought-after universities are UNILORIN, UNIZIK AND UNIBEN, even UNILAG came 4th this year. Of course UNIZIK is not in the same league with UNN because it is obvious that UNN has been left behind. The only thing I know that is going well for UNN right now is its 'name' and its 'age', remove that name then you have another ESUT or IMT.. ![]() As per academic excellence, research and most sought-after universities in Nigeria..talk of UNIBEN, UNIZIK, UNILORIN, UNILAG! UNN has lost it in those areas mentioned above but they can still spring up with hard work and tenacity by its administration and all! [s] basilo101: @chinolization: ibeto group is building a diagnostic at UNEC, capital oil (ifeanyi uba) dat center is almost complete in UNN, dangote group built a squash court, 1st bank built senior staff club, Adenuga built d stadium, d list is endles. Shell, cutis cable, Nimeth,, Peace mas transit, etc UNN comands d loyalty of d whole con3 while unizik is talking abt anambra indigens. Lets nt evn talk abt d calibre of ppl dat hv mounted d podium in PAA to giv public lectures: Obasanjo, fashola, Rochas, Ezekwesili, kingsley moughalu, Hassan kukah, orji uzo kalu, atiku abubakar, Dora. No nid 2 go fuda into d alumni and honorary awardees or international linkage or prof dat broke records. Wtf unizik is nt in unn's league[/s] |
The only reason it took Enugu state origin a long time to assume either VC or CMD of UNN or UNTH is because they lack the personnel at the time. If not the likes of Oli, Nwakoby etc has led the UNTH for a long time before the first Enugu state man in the person of Mba came. I don't know who runs the show now! OdenigboAroli: So,Enugu VCs are competent and the Anambra Ones aren't? And they aren't competent because they are Anambrarians? |
For this purpose I promise to bring the pix of UNIZIK Library on monday but I will try to see if I could have chance tomorrow so I can do it but if not it will definitely be on monday! You people should deal with this complex issue! Ikology: It's Ok bro, I rest my case |
I don't like it when some misguided elements with their complex throwing unnecessary punches even when no one is fighting them.. IGBOSON even recognized that the UNN has sunk over the years but the subsequent posters ignored it and started attacking another university altogether! INNOisBACK: Chino Nwanne, give it a rest there's no need for all these. |
By Digital Library do you mean AFRIHUB? If yes the one in UNIZIK is only second to the one in UNILORIN. Go dig it! As for the infrastructure, you have not been to UNIZIK permsite in the recent time. Apart from the statutory allocations from FG, Anambra elites has taken it as their business to be donating infrastructures and facilities to the school. It came a time the likes of Emeka Offor, Coscharis, Emzor, Juhel, Andy Uba, Ukachukwu etc were struggling on who will donate structures more than the other. This is a university that is under 15years old but presently competing with first generation universities in all ramification. Lets say the truth sometimes. [s] Ikology: Not true bro, UNN that I know are merit driven, both in admissions, examinations and lecturer selection, these also includes UNIZIK. Even though one of my course mate then whose father was HOD Mech/Prod. Eng. who was not among the best ten got Grad. Assistant Lecturer in my Dept. however there are exceptions. In the area of science and engineering please give it to UNN. The current infrastructures been elected in UNIZIk can't even rival the structures currently been built in UNN. Compare the digital libraries in both school. I don't know about other faculties, but as for engineering and sciences, UNN is still on top. I did my first degree in Chem. engr. UNIZIK, currently doing my Msc. in Mech. in UNN. Prof. Ilochi Okafor (SAN) really did well to position the school for greatness .[/s] |
You always talk like a baby that is still sucking breast. Are you the only one that do not know that UNN has sunk over the years? Sentiments apart UNIZIK has overtaken UNN in all indices of academic excellence. Even the so called amongst the most sought-after universities, UNN is nowhere to be found, you rather see UNILAG, UNIBEN, UNIZIK etc.. Even the 2013 ranking the rating was in this order UNIBEN followed by UNIZIK and then UNILAG. Presently in Nigeria the list of schools people wish above all things to attend at the moment is UNILORIN, UNIBEN, UNIZIK, UNILAG and maybe OAU. Even down here in the East people will rather die seeking admission in UNIZIK than UNN, They only seek for UNN when the former fails. The only thing I know that is going for UNN right now is its name and age, outside that its just a paper-tiger. I am not saying that UNN cannot rise again, but what am saying is that they need to wake up on those areas that made loose it in the first place. [s] christejames: thank you brother. I am just stunned by what the other guy said, even comparing UNN to UNIZIK... Its uncalled for. In Nigeria as a whole the universities that can be compared to UNN is OAU, UNILAG, UI, ABU and maybe UNIBEN (in terms of quality education). UNN as a citadel of learning is transforming at a great pace, the school is not resting on her oars. I have so many anambra friends (and roommates) who said they would always choose UNN over UNIZIK. ...in terms of infrastructure the school is on the verge of claiming the title of the most beautiful university in the country nay the continent with masterpiece architectural building springing up at every nooks and cranny of the campus. One thing i love about UNN is that at every corner of its vast arable land (on soft green hill) u will find beautiful structures and manors built there. In my department alone, i know of lecturers that lecture at UNIZIK (part-time) shuttling btw UNN and UNIZIK on weekly basis talk more of other departments and our GSP lecturers. Talking of infrastructures ,do they even know that the past VC built a presidential lodge at Odim side (Obukpa part) of the school? That building is world class (with only few students aware of its existence i would taken a pix of it but where its located is far from by abode), do they also know that in all the classes in the school, the old school desk common to Nigerian tertiary institutions have been replaced with modern desk imported to the school? (when u seat on that desk u feel relaxed to learn) The classrooms have been equipted with electronic boards which our lecturers use to deliver lectures to us, if u visit our laboratories (especially faculty of biological sc) u would quiver to know that such labs exist in Nigerian uni let alone a govt one. I bet u when the new faculty of pharmaceutical sc is competed it would be one of the largest in the country (if not the largest) or is it the new post graduate complex that is nearing completion? (the complex would also be one of the largest PG complex), or the library the endless list goes on. UNN is going for all round development... I know many of you haven't visited the school, i bet u when u do u would be amazed and even compare the current school to Abuja in development. NB: UNN is the premier indigenous univarsity and wouldn't want her name to be soiled. GOD BLESS US ALL!!![/s] |
Nwanne nwayo bu ije! ![]() Its one step at a time.. BuddahMonk: Chino howfa with the skycraper i told you to push for me, lets know if he will welcome the idea? |

OBIANO FLAGS OFF 2ND LONGEST ROAD PROJECT TO CONNECT AGRO-BASED COMMUNITIES. In continuation of the mass construction of roads to infrastructural sites and agricultural belts of Anambra State and the comprehensive strategy to achieve food security and industrialisation, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, yesterday, flagged off the reconstruction of 9.5 kilometre Eke-Awgbu – Amaetiti – Okpeze – Ndiukwuenu road, the second longest road project in the state. The road project is part of a 13-kilometre road that stretches to Okpeze Bridge, brining to 40 -kilometres, the entire road projects that cut across many communities up to Ufuma, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state. Speaking during the flag off event, Governor Obiano stated that the road was the longest road project awarded by the state government after the 47-kilometre Aguleri -Oil Rig Road project. According to Obiano, “the road is very important as it traverses many agro-based communities and would stimulate socio-economic growth when completed. It is designed with all necessary components, including bridges and culverts, drainages, street lights, markets and three modern bus stops.” The governor assured communities around the road project axis that his administration would sustain equitable distribution of democracy dividends to all parts of the state, stressing that it was a deliberate policy of his government to open up roads into the hinterland with viable sources for wealth creation and employment for the youths. He urged the people to monitor the progress of work and preserve facilities in the area as well as ensure that security was maintained. The Commissioner for Works, Sir Callistus Ilozumba, in his remark, said the contract had been fully mobilised and assured that government would maintain prompt payment of all certificates generated. He commended the people of the area for removing all obstructions on the road, to pave way for drainage work. However, he warned against burning of tyres and made it clear that those who violated the directive would pay for the cost of removing the bumps. Sir Callistus directed traditional rulers and Presidents-General of communities to arrange for proper maintenance of the roads and drainage systems to increase the lifespan of the roads. The member representing Orumba North in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Romanus Obi, said the road would link various parts of Orumba North and thanked the governor for maintaining continuity in government. Also speaking, the Chairman of Orumba North, Mr. Okey Enekwe and his Orumba South counterpart, Mr. John Onyeakpa noted that the governor had increased the tempo of rural development through massive infrastructural development.
