On August 2012, the outdoor amusement section of Nigeria's biggest Mall- polo park mall Enugu opened with recreational facilities like ferris wheel, train ride and others. The already completed first phase of complex include an entertainment arcade, five cinema halls, office space, 67 retail shops, a food court, parking space to accomodate 1,320 vehicles at once this has seen brands like Shoprite, GAME, Genesis deluxe cinema open late 2011 other brands already operating include Swatch, Sportsworld, Max fashion, Twice as Nice, theHUB, resturants, banking halls etc. The last phase of the project is the construction of a hotel and office complex.

Enugu state govt. re-affirmed it's pledge to electrify all communities in the state before leaving office in 2015 at the state exec. council meeting of thurs.19th July 2012 chaired by Gov. Chime Briefing the press Info. commisioner said another set of 26 communities spread across 11 L.Gs have been penciled down for electrification to cost 850m naira with joint funding alongside the affected local govts of Nkanu east, nkanu west, udenu, nsukka, udi, aninri, ojiriver, isiuzo, igboetiti, igboeze north &igboeze south. On the ratio of 60% for state &40% for L.G, it will be noted that the state govt uses this model in executing rural roads with L.Gs. The meeting also approved the procurement of additional 178 units of korean made solar powered bustop shelter at 472m to add to installed 80 units in Town, also 375m was approved for 10 new olympus waste compactor trucks(to complement 25 owned compactors )with 1049 refuse bins underway, & ICT tools for Enugu state Uni. of Tech ESUT at 225m with 7multimedia classrooms

Enugu state executive council meeting on Thurs. June 2012 awarded contract for dualization of the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway section of the road leading into the town from abakpa junction to the akanu ibiam intl. Airport flyover(which is just a few kilometers) to Arab contractors ltd in the sum of 2.4 billion naira to be completed in 14 months. This key road also connects the Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port-harcourt expressways in addition to Emene industrial layout; Naira triangle junction(second busiet spot in Enugu state after 9th mile corner) and international airport road via flyover. The road just like the ones previously constructed in the town comes complete with precast drainage system; paved concrete pedestrian walkway on both sides; soundproof generator powered street lights; bustop shelters and traffic lights at road intersections.

Reticulation is a continous work because of city expansion

Enu. Govt. has awarded contract for 1000 water meter/cards worth 1.2 bn. Naira with the complete channelling of new PVC to homes in the town, work at places like abakpa still ongoing.

Genesis deluxe cinemas opened in Nigeria's biggest shopping mall in GRA Enugu on dec. 2011, showcasing latest prenium hollywood and nigerian movies.

Enugu international trade fair holds at its permanent site along Enugu-Onitsha expressway from 23rd march to 2nd april 2012. This year's innovation is in the display of new techniques in agriculture; the fair features both local and international exhibitors

The government of Enugu state in a circular to all govt. ministries; departments and agencies has authorized the upward review of montly allowance to corp members posted to the state from 4,000 to 10,000 naira with payment effective from January 2012. This move comes after the state govt. completed the renovation work at the state orientation camp at Agwu L.G.A
