The Senate is considering a 6- months suspension for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. A debate on the committee’s report for suspension is currently ongoing with lawmakers expressing different opinions on the issue. The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, Public Petitions and Code of Conduct has recommended a six-month suspension for Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over alleged misconduct. The investigations contained in the report presented to the committee cited total violation of Senate rules. This decision reached a plenary session was announced on Thursday by the Chairman of the Senate, Senator Neda Imasuen, who read the committee’s report. The Senate committee recommended that Senator Natasha should be placed on a 6- months suspension effective from March 6, 2025. This comes amid Senator Natasha’s allegation that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio sexually harassed her in his house and at his office. However, since no legal evidence has been tendered to back up the claim of Senator Natasha in court but rather a social exposure revealed in an interview with Arise Tv, the senate said it will not probe the accused, senator Godswill Akpabio because there was no evidence. Meanwhile, the committee reached this agreement to suspend Senator because she refused to appear before the committee for a review of her conduct. Also, her refusal to comply with the sitting arrangement made in the House by the senate president fueled her case. About 16 persons have been confirmed dead as a bus loaded with passengers explodes along Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway. FRSC spokesperson, Mrs Florence Okpe has confirmed the tragic incident. Earlier, Ogun State governor Adeleke sacked the APC chairpersons elected in the areas in 2022, however, yesterday an appeal Court ruling sustained their election. Following the verdict, the APC chairpersons returned to office jubilating over their victory but their joy was short-lived as they met with opposition countering their claims as the PDP-led teams stated that the court did not restore them to power. The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has blown hot in court today over the dilly-dallying of his case by the Chief Judge John Tsoho and Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja. Mr. Kanu questioned, “Why is it that when it comes to my case, everything is turned upside-down?” He insisted he wanted to speak. Following the December 2024 crackdown on native doctors resolution by the Anambra State government, a popular native doctor, known as “Akwa Okuko tiwara Aki” is currently in detention after intense interrogation by the Deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim. Recall that part of the crack resolution was to flush out native doctors in the state who aid criminal activities according to the governor. Recently an online video of a lethal charm termed ‘Okeite’ which means ‘big pot’ was allegedly linked to Akwa Okuko. Upon investigation, Akwa Okuko denied any association with it alleging that the said video wasn’t made by him nor was he involved in the making of the Okeite.
