Nigerian music Arch-rivals, Wizkid and Davido, may have yet another face-off as nominees at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2017 scheduled for November 12 in Lagos.


Wizkid and Davido, two of Africa’s most popular music stars, are up for the Best Male category award in West Africa.
Femi Morgan, the organiser’s spokesperson, said in a statement in Lagos that the event which is to reward the best of African artistes, has led to a massive voting campaigns by nominated artistes.
He said that the artistes would be relying on the love from music lovers to win the 23.9 Carat plaited gold AFRIMA trophy.
Morgan listed other Nigerian music divas on the list to include Aramide, Seyi Shay, Tiwa Savage, and Yemi Alade who will be contending with Ghanaian pop-star, Becca, Malian Grammy Award winner, Oumo Sangare and Senegalese Pop-singer.
Also, Viviane Chidid, to prove which star has the most dynamic voice to win the gold trophy for best Female Act.




According to Morgan, the nominated artistes are pulling up their sleeves to slug it out with their regional and continental music contemporaries and legends at the event.
“Southern African female nominees have some scores to settle at the 2017 AFRIMA Awards.
“Amanda Black and Babes Woduno started a fresh beef at the
South Africa Music Awards23, when Amanda Black beat Babes Woduno to SA’s Best Female Artiste of the Year awards 2017.”
“She might get her rep back if she sweeps all contestants to win the Best Female Artiste in Southern Africa at AFRIMA 2017. Old rivalries in SA might rear its head at the Awards as AKA gets nominated in the same category as Nasty C and Emtee,” Morgan said.
Morgan said, “other stars battling for recognition and rep are SA Jah Prayzah, Legend Jazzist, Hugh Masekela, and Nduduzo Makhatini.

According to him, ‘Holy Holy‘ is not a good song, it makes no sense with poor production. It is accusatory and not well directed to its subject. Blackface questions the recipient of the message in ‘Holy Holy‘, stating that an artiste should be clear about who he is accusing because 2Baba is either talking to his fans, which shouldn’t be so or he is talking to the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari. Texas officials cite domestic situation in church shooting: 'There were threatening texts'
Two women believed to be the wife and mother-in-law of the gunman who opened fire at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Sunday sometimes attended the church and appear to have been close to the pastor’s family, online records and social media profiles reviewed by Yahoo News show. And police revealed on Monday that the 26-year-old gunman, Devin Patrick Kelley, of New Braunfels, Texas, sent threatening texts to his mother-in-law.
Officials say Kelley killed 26 people and wounded 20 others in what authorities say was the worst mass shooting in state history and the deadliest at any house of worship in U.S. history. Kelley was found dead following a high-speed chase that began after he was confronted by armed neighbors and fled the scene.
According her Facebook and LinkedIn accounts, Danielle Kelley (nee Danielle Lee Shields), Devin’s wife of three years, served as a vacation Bible school teacher at First Baptist Church from 2008 until 2013. Her mother, Michelle Shields, is listed as a member of the church and is seen in several Facebook photos with Sherri Pomeroy, the wife of the church’s pastor, Frank Pomeroy, and in photos and a Facebook video with Annabelle Pomeroy, the pastor’s 14-year-old daughter, who was killed in Sunday’s massacre.
Sherri and Frank Pomeroy were out of town in different states at the time of the shooting, and the service was led by a guest pastor.
At a press conference Monday morning, Texas Department of Public Safety Director Freeman Martin confirmed that Devin Kelley’s mother-in-law was a member of the church, and revealed that the gunman had “expressed anger towards his mother-in-law.”
“We can tell you there was a domestic situation going on within this family,” Martin said. “The suspect’s mother-in-law attended this church. We know that there were threatening texts from him.”
Martin said it’s not clear whether she had previously disclosed the threatening texts to law enforcement.
“This was not racially motivated,” he added. “It wasn’t over religious beliefs.”
Yet the connections between the suspected gunman’s in-laws and the the First Baptist Church, and the suspect’s angry texts, offer the first clues about a motive for the shooting.
In television interviews earlier Monday, Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said that Kelley’s in-laws weren’t at the church when the shooting occurred, but that they occasionally attended services there.
“We know that his ex-in-laws or in-laws came to church here from time to time,” he said. “They were not here yesterday. So, we don’t know why he actually showed up yesterday, but we know that when he left, he left destruction.”
While it’s clear the small-town congregation was the gunman’s target, Tackitt added, authorities have yet to establish a concrete motive.
The Associated Press reported on Monday that Devin Kelley was discharged from the Air Force in 2014 for allegedly assaulting his spouse and child two years before.
On ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott acknowledged there may have been a link between the gunman and the church, saying the public would likely be informed of such a connection “in a few days.”
“I don’t think this was just a random act of violence,” Abbott said. “Law enforcement is looking very aggressively into this.”

THE UNDERTAKER
Mark William Calaway (born March 24, 1965),[7] better known by his ring name THE UNDERTAKER, is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE.[5]
Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. After wrestling for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as "Mean Mark" Callous from 1989 to 1990, he signed with the then World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1990, making him the company's longest tenured in-ring performer. Calaway is considered to be one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.[8]
As The Undertaker, Calaway's gimmick is a horror-themed, macabre entity who employs scare tactics and holds links to the supernatural. The character was reinvented as a biker during a period in the early 2000s before returning to his previous gimmick in 2004. The Undertaker is the storyline older half-brother of fellow WWE wrestler Kane, with whom he has alternately feuded and teamed with as The Brothers of Destruction. Since unseating Hulk Hogan as WWF Championin 1991, The Undertaker has been involved in various pivotal storylines and matches within WWE history.[5]
THE UNDERTAKER is also known for The Streak, an unprecedented run of 21 straight victories at WWE's leading pay-per-view event, WrestleMania (including main event matches at WrestleMania 13, WrestleMania XXIV, and WrestleMania XXVI), before he sustained his first loss at WrestleMania Bleep to Brock Lesnar.[9] Prior to his WWF/WWE career, he held the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship once and has since won the WWF/WWE Championship four timesand the WWE's World Heavyweight Championship three times. He also won the 2007 Royal Rumble.





Early life
Calaway was born in Houston, Texas, the son of Frank Compton Calaway (died July 22, 2003) and Betty Catherine Truby. He has four older brothers: David, Michael, Paul and Timothy. Calaway attended Waltrip High School, where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He graduated in 1983 and began studying at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas on a basketball scholarship. In 1985, he enrolled in Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, where he majored in sport management and played basketball for the Rams in the 1985–1986 season as a center. In 1986, Calaway dropped out of university to focus on a career in sports, and he briefly considered playing professional basketball in Europe before deciding to focus on professional wrestling.[10][11][12][13]
Professional wrestling career
Early career (1984–1989)
Calaway made his debut in 1984 for World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) under the ring name Texas Red.[6] His first match was a loss against the late Bruiser Brody.[6] In 1988, after four years in the promotion, he left and joined the Continental Wrestling Association (which became part of the United States Wrestling Association after Jerry Jarrett bought WCCW and merged the two organizations into one), wrestling under several gimmicks.
On February 2, 1989, managed by Dutch Mantel, he debuted as The Master of Pain, a character fresh out of the United States Penitentiary, Atlanta after serving five years (much in solitary confinement) for killing two men in a fight.[14] After his second match the next week, he stayed in the ring by challenging USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion Jerry Lawler to an impromptu match. The Master of Pain easily dominated Lawler until Mantel entered the ring and called him off. Lawler agreed to a title match, which was held on April 1, when The Master of Pain won his first professional wrestling championship. He held it for just over three weeks before Lawler became the first man to pin him, winning it back.
While performing as The Punisher, Calaway won the WCWA Texas Heavyweight Championship on October 5, 1989, when Eric Embry forfeited the title.[15]
World Championship Wrestling (1989–1990)
In 1989, Calaway joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as a villain and adopted the ring name "Mean Mark" Callous, a name devised for him by Terry Funk.[16]He was portrayed as a morbid character; he wore predominantly black ring attire and was described by announcer Jim Ross as having a fondness for pet snakes and the music of Ozzy Osbourne.[17] Callous was promptly drafted into The Skyscrapers tag team to replace a legitimate injured Sid Vicious, and he made his debut on January 3, 1990 in a match later televised against Agent Steel and Randy Harris.[18] The new team gained some notoriety at Clash of the Champions X when they beat down The Road Warriors after their match.[19] However, Callous' partner Dan Spivey left WCW days before their Chicago Street Fight against The Road Warriors at WrestleWar. Callous and a replacement masked Skyscraper were defeated in the street fight, and the team broke up soon afterwards.[20] Callous took on the guidance of Paul E. Dangerously and defeated Johnny Ace at Capital Combat and defeated Brian Pillman at the Clash of the Champions XI: Coastal Crush in singles competition. In July 1990, he wrestled against Lex Luger for the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship at The Great American Bash, but was pinned by Luger.
According to an interview with Bruce Prichard on "Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, Episode 14", feelers had already been sent out to the WWF that month for Calaway by Paul Heyman. Calaway wrestled the match with a dislocated hip knowing that he was being watched by Vince McMahon.[21] McMahon initially did not express interest, but Prichard encouraged him to speak with Calaway when WCW traveled to New Jersey for a house show in the Meadowlands on August 24.[18] The meeting between the two went well, and he gave notice to WCW on August 27.[18] His final match was on September 7 at a WorldWide taping in Amarillo, Texas in which he defeated Dave Johnson.
During his time in WCW, Calaway briefly wrestled in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) as "Punisher" Dice Morgan. After leaving WCW, he briefly returned to the USWA to participate in a tournament to determine the new USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion, defeating Bill Dundee in the first round, but losing to Jerry Lawler in the quarterfinals. In October 1990, he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).



World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment/WWE
WWF Champion (1990–1991)
Calaway made his WWF debut as Kane the Undertaker at a taping of Superstars on November 19, 1990. The original Deadman character depicted him as a Westernmortician dressed in a trench coat, gray-striped tie, black stetson hat with black gloves (later gray gloves) and gray boot spats. He was portrayed as impervious to pain, something accomplished by Calaway not selling his opponents' attacks. Calaway made his official on-camera debut on November 22 at Survivor Series as a villainous character when he was the mystery partner of Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Team.[22] Approximately one minute into the match, The Undertaker eliminated Koko B. Warewith his finisher, the Tombstone Piledriver. He also eliminated Dusty Rhodes before being counted out, but his team won the match with DiBiase being the sole survivor. During the match, Calaway was referred to as The Undertaker, omitting the name Kane, which was dropped shortly after the event (and seven years later was given to another wrestler who eventually became Undertaker's younger brother of the same name). At the same time, The Undertaker switched managers from Brother Love to Paul Bearer – a histrionic, ghostly character, almost always seen bearing an urn, which he used to revive The Undertaker's strength whenever Undertaker fell victim to his antagonists. Undertaker placed his defeated opponents (almost always jobbers) in a bodybag and carried them to the back.[23] Throughout the end of 1990, The Undertaker mostly picked up squash victories against jobbers on Superstars of Wrestling and Wrestling Challenge tapings. He was a participant in the 1991 Royal Rumble match which was won by Hulk Hogan. He continued picking up victories in squash matches leading up to his first feud in the WWF with "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka.
The Undertaker made his WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania VII, quickly defeating "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka.[24] He began his first major feud with The Ultimate Warrior, when he attacked Warrior and locked him in an airtight casket on the set of Paul Bearer's Funeral Parlor interview segment. He would later lose to Warrior in the first ever body bag challenge in WWF history. At King of the Ring 1991, Undertaker defeated Animal in a qualifying match before fighting Sid Vicious to a double disqualification in the Semi-Final, which saw both men eliminated from the King of the Ring tournament.
Shortly after, he was announced as the number one contender for the WWF Championship. The Undertaker defeated Hulk Hogan to win his first WWF Championshipat Survivor Series with the help of Ric Flair. The Undertaker also became the first wrestler to win the WWF Championship in his twenties since Bruno Sammartino and is the first wrestler to win the WWF Championship at Survivor Series and was the youngest WWF Champion in history until having this record broken by Yokozuna in April 1993 at WrestleMania IX.[25] WWF President Jack Tunney ordered a rematch for This Tuesday in Texas six days later, where he lost the title back to Hogan.[25]However, due to the controversial ends to the two title matches between The Undertaker and Hogan, the title was vacated by Tunney and then awarded to Ric Flair as the winner of the 1992 Royal Rumble match
The Ministry of Darkness (1998–1999)

After Survivor Series,THE UNDERTAKER returned his attention back to his previous feud with Austin for costing him the title at Judgment Day, hitting Austin in the head with a shovel during a title match with The Rock, returning the favor for what happened a month earlier. With this twist in the storyline, McMahon scheduled a Buried Alive match between The Undertaker and Austin at Rock Bottom: In Your House. In the weeks leading up to Rock Bottom, The Undertaker attempted to embalm Austin alive, tried to have Kane committed to a mental asylum, and had his druids chain Austin to his symbol, raising it high into the arena.[37] However, The Undertaker lost the match after Kane interfered.[38]
After building up to his second villainous run in the latter part of 1998, The Undertaker introduced an updated version of his Deadman identity by January 1999 — the dark priest who in the initial period of this persona reigned over a stable known as The Ministry of Darkness. In this form, he took on a wicked, demonic presence, much more so than ever before. He often claimed to be invoking and taking orders from a "Higher Power". Moreover, he often appeared in a hooded black robe and sat on a throne that was specially designed into his character symbol. With the help of his minions, he often performed sacrifices on select WWF wrestlers, using various incantations and magic words with intent to extract out the dark side of the wrestlers in question so as to recruit them into his Ministry. The completed Ministry of Darkness consisted of The Brood (Christian, Edge and Gangrel), The Acolytes (Bradshaw and Faarooq), Mideon, and Viscera. Calaway himself did not wrestle for a period having undergone a hip replacement. As part of the angle, Undertaker expressed a desire to take control of the World Wrestling Federation, displacing its owner, Vince McMahon. These ambitions culminated into a rivalry between The Ministry and The Corporation, ultimately resulting in a match between Undertaker and Corporation enforcer, Big Boss Man. The two faced off in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania XV, which Undertaker won.[39] At Backlash: In Your House, Undertaker defeated Corporation member Ken Shamrock after interference from Ministry member Bradshaw.[40]
Thereafter, The Undertaker kidnapped Stephanie McMahon, forcing Vince McMahon to enter into a reluctant alliance with his longtime nemesis Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Undertaker attempted to marry before sacrificing Stephanie in an eldritch ceremony conducted by Paul Bearer, but Austin was able to rescue her.[41] At the Over the Edge pay-per-view, The Undertaker defeated Austin for his third WWF Championship with help from Shane McMahon, the special referee.[42] The Ministry eventually merged with Shane McMahon's Corporation alliance to form the Corporate Ministry. The Undertaker later revealed that Vince McMahon had been his "Higher Power" all along.[43] After The Undertaker dropped the WWF Championship back to Austin following King of the Ring,[43] and an additional loss to him in a First Blood match at Fully Loaded, his relationship with the McMahons dissolved and the Corporate Ministry disbanded.[44]
THE UNDERTAKER then began a storyline where he teamed with Big Show in a tag team known as The Unholy Alliance, which held the WWF World Tag Team Championship twice. After their victory at SummerSlam, The Undertaker suffered a groin tear and was seen limping in several matches. He avoided competing in wrestling matches in the following weeks, instead tyrannically ordering Big Show to fight all his battles and oblige all his many wishes. He also began to transition away to the biker character he would play in 2000. Per an interview with Kevin Nash, this was a move to allow Calaway to enter World Championship Wrestling with a non-trademarked persona. Had he entered WCW, it would have been as Mark Calaway. Although negotiations were described as close, he ultimately re-signed with the World Wrestling Federation.[45] To compensate for his lack of physical action, Undertaker became more vocal on the mic, often making smart-aleck remarks and providing commentary. In September 1999, on SmackDown!, Mr. McMahon threatened that he would remove Undertaker from the Unforgiven main event if he refused to participate in a casket match against Triple H. Undertaker retorted that he did not care and maybe he would not be participating in anything, thus walking out of the WWF.[46] In reality, Calaway went on a hiatus from the WWF in order to treat his groin injury. On December 14 he made his return to action, teaming with Viscera in a losing effort against Kane and The Godfather at a house show in Caomo, Puetro Rico.THE UNDERTAKER was advertised on the Armageddon promotional poster to return, but meanwhile also tore his pectoral muscle, making him take almost eight months out of action.[.




Final matches of the Streak (2011–2014)

After the 2011 Royal Rumble, promotional videos began airing, showing The Undertaker entering and standing within a Western-style old house on a rainy desert. Each promo ended with the date 2–21–11 being "burned into" the screen. On the February 21 episode of Raw, The Undertaker returned, but before he could speak, Triple Halso returned and confronted him. The two challenged each other to a match at WrestleMania XXVII, which was later made a No Holds Barred match and which The Undertaker won by submission. However, he had to be carried away from the ring on a stretcher.
Legacy

THE UNDERTAKERr was voted the greatest WWE wrestler ever in a 2013 Digital Spy poll.[170] In naming him the second greatest wrestler ever, IGN described THE UNDERTAKER as, "one of the most respected wrestlers, and characters, in the business; treated with actual reverence. Like a cherished, invaluable artifact".[171] Luis Paez-Pumar of Complex wrote that The Undertaker character is "easily the best gimmick in the history of professional wrestling".[172] Luke Winkie of Sports Illustratedlisted The Undertaker as the fifth greatest wrestler of all time.[173]
Wrestler Big Show named THE UNDERTAKERr as the greatest professional wrestler of all time,[174] while Mark Henry and WWE chairman Vince McMahon have called him their favorite.[175][176] WWE Hall of Famer and company executive, Jim Ross, said: "Without question, The Undertaker is the greatest big man in the history of wrestling... There is no greater WWE star ever than The Undertaker".[177]
Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition mentioned Undertaker as having the most consecutive victories at WrestleMania.[178]
In November 2015, Telegraph journalist Tom Fordy called THE UNDERTAKER "the world's greatest sportsman".[179]
Personal life
Calaway married his first wife, Jodi Lynn, in 1989. They had a son, Gunner Vincent (born 1993). The marriage ended in 1999. Calaway married his second wife, Sara, in St. Petersburg, Florida on July 21, 2000. In 2001, Sara made televised appearances with the WWE (then known as the WWF) as part of a feud between Calaway and Diamond Dallas Page, in which she was acknowledged as being Calaway's wife. The couple had two daughters together: Chasey (born November 21, 2002) and Gracie (born May 15, 2005). In 2007, he and Sara were divorced, and he became romantically linked to former wrestler Michelle McCool, whom he married on June 26, 2010 in Houston, Texas.[180] The couple's first child, Kaia Faith Calaway, was born on August 29, 2012.[181]
In the 1990s, Calaway started his own posse that consisted of fellow wrestlers Yokozuna, Savio Vega, Charles Wright, The Godwinns and Rikishi. The faction was called The Bone Street Krew and each member had the initials of the faction tattooed onto themselves, with Undertaker's being prominently shown on his stomach.[182]
Calaway invests in real estate with business partner Scott Everhart. Calaway and Everhart finished construction on a $2.7m building in Loveland, Colorado, called "The Calahart" (a portmanteau of their last names).[183] Calaway and his ex-wife Sara established The Zeus Compton Calaway Save the Animals fund at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences to help pay for lifesaving treatments for large-breed dogs.[184]



Boxing and MMA involvement
Calaway is a boxing fan and carried the Flag of the United States while leading Team Pacquiao to the ring during the Pacquiao vs. Velázquez fight in 2005.[185] He was also in attendance at the Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson fight in 2002.
Calaway is a mixed martial arts fan, he has been practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu for a long time, earning his black belt in 2011 under Rolles Gracie,[186] and has attended several Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) shows, including a show where Calaway verbally confronted then UFC fighter Brock Lesnar after Lesnar lost to Cain Velasquez. His striking gloves and Hell's Gate submission (a modified gogoplata) were also inspired by mixed martial arts. During a Calaway interview conducted by an internet show after UFC 121, Lesnar walked past him staring. Calaway answered Lesnar's stare by saying "You wanna do it?"[187]
He was a close friend of actor Tony Longo and remains close friends with mixed martial artists Pat Miletich, Jeremy Horn, and Matt Hughes.
Other media
Calaway made his film debut as Hutch in the 1991 film Suburban Commando. He had guest roles on Poltergeist: The Legacy and Celebrity Deathmatch. In 2002, Calaway appeared out of character on the Canadian sports show Off the Record with Michael Landsberg.

president Muhammadu Buhari on Monday night said he was aware of the investigation of two sacked officials by anti-corruption agencies, saying the investigation should continue.
Mr. Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, in a statement said “the position of the President therefore is that investigation agencies which have already commenced the investigation of the two officers removed from office will go on with their work of investigation without any interference or hindrance.”
Mr. Shehu added that the president “who is fully conversant with the provisions of the constitution will not stop the investigation of anyone because he has no such power under our laws. This is a decision of the Supreme Court.”
The spokesperson was reacting to criticisms that trailed the sack of Babachir Lawal and Ayodele Oke, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and former head of the National Intelligence Agency respectively.
President Buhari had ordered the sack of both men earlier on Monday following a review of a panel report that investigated allegations against them. The panel was headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Many Nigerians, though commended the dismissal of both men, asked that Mr. Buhari order their arrest and prosecution.
Mr. Shehu, however, indicated that the two men were already being investigated by the anti-corruption agencies.
“Based on his wish and desire for a strict observance of the law, the President expects the EFCC, ICPC and such agencies to proceed with ongoing investigations,” the spokesperson said.
“When and where they have reasonable grounds to charge former or serving officers to court under our laws, they do not require the permission of the President to do so,” he added.

THE INDICTMENT
The spokesperson for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached for comments about the status of the investigations.
However, the panel headed by Mr. Osinbajo found Mr. Lawal culpable in a slew of allegations that included questionable diversion of funds meant for the internally displaced persons in the North-east.
Consequently, the investigative committee, which included Attorney-General Abubakar Malami and National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, recommended termination of Mr. Lawal’s appointment, the presidency said in a statement.
Mr. Oke was the head of NIA when the EFCC found N13 billion belonging to the foreign intelligence office in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, on April 12.
As with Mr. Lawal, Mr. Osinbajo’s panel recommended Mr. Oke’s dismissal after looking into the circumstances surrounding the cash haul.
The panel submitted its report on August 23, but Mr. Buhari did not act on it until Monday. Another presidential aide, Femi Adesina, told Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ Monday evening that the president was being painstaking with the content of the report.
Before their appointments were ultimately terminated, Messrs. Lawal and Oke had beenplaced on suspension since April 19. They appeared before the panel on several occasions during its 14-day, closed-door sitting.
DEMAND FOR PROSECUTION
While welcoming their sack on Monday evening, a civic rights group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, admonished Mr. Buhari to reassert his anti-corruption posture by calling for a thorough prosecution.

“This is a positive development in the fight against grand corruption, although this decision is coming rather late,” SERAP said in a statement signed by its deputy director, Timothy Adewale. “Buhari now has to go a step further by making sure that both Lawal and Oke are promptly brought to justice in fair trials.”
“What the government needs at this time is a revolutionary approach to the fight against corruption if Buhari is to show his commitment to ‘kill’ corruption before corruption ‘kills’ Nigeria.
“Without effective prosecution of high-ranking public officials charged with corruption, this government’s fight against corruption may sadly turn out to be all motion and no movement, and this will eventually undermine the legitimacy of the anti-corruption efforts,” Mr. Adewale said.
The group also reminded Mr. Buhari to pursue criminal charges against the fugitive former head of presidential task force on pension reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.
Mr. Maina was revealed by PREMIUM TIMES penultimate Friday as having sneaked back into the public service four years after he was sacked for alleged pension fraud.
Mr. Buhari ordered Mr. Maina’s dismissal with immediate effect and called for an investigation into how he was recalled.
“Buhari also has to move swiftly to publish a report of the investigation into the secret reinstatement of the fugitive former civil servant, Abdulrasheed Maina, and without delay identify and bring to justice anyone suspected to be involved,” SERAP said.
PAST ARREST CALLS
While President Buhari did not authorise the immediate arrest of Mr. Lawal and Oke, he has ordered arrests of persons indicted of corruption in the past.
When Mr. Buhari received the reports of the presidential arms probe panel in 2015, he ordered immediate arrest or former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and other officials of the last administration who were indicted.


Mr. Buhari raised the Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement in the Nigerian Armed Forces on August 24, 2015, in furtherance of his “determination to stamp out corruption and irregularities in Nigeria’s public service.”

A former Nigerian Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, disclosed how lies by late warlord, Odumegu Ojukwu after the Aburi accord led to Biafra civil war, between 1967 and 1970.
Former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has given insight into what happened at the Aburi Conference, in Ghana, convened to resolve Nigeria’s civil war.
The civil war started in 1967 and ended in 1970.
Gowon became head of state in July 1966.
The former leader declared that the Federal Government, under his leadership, went to Aburi unprepared, following a disagreement which broke out between the Supreme Military Council (SMC) and the Eastern region, led by late Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu.
He was, however, quick to add that their decision to go to Aburi was borne out of the desire of leaders on both sides, at the time, to win back the trust and confidence of Nigerians and insisted that secession was never part of the resolutions they agreed on.
Gowon disclosed this, yesterday, on an Africa Independent Television (AIT) programme “People, Politics and Power,” monitored in Lagos.
“We agreed to put our heads together, to regain the trust and confidence of Nigerians. We went to Aburi, to agree to deal with the situation of our country, by ourselves. We did not go with any prepared position on the federal side, but, Ojukwu came with a paper he prepared. His prepared position was on a pink paper. Usually, pink paper at the Staff College is directing staff solution to the problem,”
He further disclosed that most of the positions presented by Ojukwu at the conference were accepted and that after their return to Nigeria, from Aburi, he (Gowon) was determined to keep the country together by assuaging the feelings of the South East but, Ojukwu thought otherwise.
The former military leader further said Ojukwu’s reluctance may have been informed by the killings of the Igbo in the North,which made him (Ojukwu) believe that secession was the way they could get the freedom and the security they desired.
According to Gowon, part of the understanding they had on both sides, while in Aburi, was that, as the leader, upon their return to the country, he would be the first to make any statement concerning the resolutions before any governor makes any statement.
“But, by the time I returned, I was ill; I had fever. I could not make any statement. But, Ojukwu went to the radio, to make a statement and said the things we never agreed on.
“David Ejoor was the one who called me one early morning to ask if I had heard what Ojukwu said, and I said no. He then reeled out all that Ojukwu had said and I asked David, in all honesty, if that was what we agreed. He said no.
“To keep the country together was not a task that I could do alone. I needed the cooperation and understanding of every Nigerian. And, in order to ensure we kept the country together, I reckoned that we needed to have discussions among ourselves. We had a civil servant who was exceptionally experienced and good. We went there (Aburi) to restore the trust of our country.
“If we were working together, anyone with conscience will assuage the feelings (of the South-easterners). But, Ojukwu thought otherwise. He had in mind all along, based on what happened to his people in the North, that secession was the only way out. But, we were thinking of the whole country, because all parts of the country were involved. The military was not involved in the killings of South-easterners in the North.”
Explaining how his passion to keep the country together, Gowon again said: “Thank God that God knows I love the country very dearly. I have no any other loyalty but to the country, even though we were Queen commissioned, our loyalty was to our country, once we became a republic. That love and loyalty to my country was first and foremost. That had been inculcated in me; right from the on set. Once you had that as the basis, the next was to deal with the situation.
“One day, when I was doing my best to keep Nigeria together, one young man wrote me a letter; and in the letter, he wrote: ‘Do you know the meaning of Gowon?’ Gowon in my language means owner of God’s masquerade. But, the young man in his letter wrote that ‘Gowon means, Go on With One Nigeria.’ And, I said to myself, ‘this is what I was trying to tell Nigerians that we must do, as a result of all the confusions that had taken place.’ But, Nigerians are saying this is what I must do. It made an impact on me. I was more determined to keep Nigeria together.”

The Untold Story,myths And Arguments About Cristiano Ronaldo's Friend.

The ultimate sacrifice made by one man named Albert Fantrau sealed his fate for the rest of his life and guaranteed him a meal ticket. The man happens to be an old friend of Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
Moments after Real Madrid Football Club won their 10th UEFA Champions League trophy in 2014, the global audience and thousands of football fans at the Stadium of Light in Lisbon were taken by surprise when Cristiano Ronaldo abandoned the team's celebration and ran to a section of the stand to pull out a man from the crowd and hug him affectionately.






The action was a public confession by Ronaldo to honour his childhood clubmate who 'sacrificed himself’ and allowed the Portuguese star to become a global icon today. Ronaldo said in an interview he granted some years ago that he and his friend were vying for a spot in an academy of Andorinha in Funchal, Madeira.






“I have to thank my old friend Albert Fantrau for my success. We played together for the same team in the U-18 championship. When a scout came to see us he said that, Whoever scores more goals will come into our academy.

We won that match 3-0. I scored the first goal then Albert scored the second with a great header. But the third goal was impressive for all of us. Albert was one-on-one against the goalkeeper, he rounded the goalkeeper and I was running in front of him.
“All he had to do was to score that goal but he passed it to me and I scored the third goal, so I got that spot and went to the academy.
“After the match I went to him and asked him why? Albert said that “Because you (Ronaldo) are better than me.”
Journalists then went to Albert’s house and asked him if it was a true story. He said yes. He also said that his career as a player after the match ended and
now is unemployed. “But how did you build this house so great, you have a car? You seem like a rich man. You also able keep your family. From where
did this come from? ‘

Albert more proudly replied: “It is from Ronaldo!”

This explains why Ronaldo had to single him out of the crowd to share in his celebration.


Is the story about Cristiano Ronaldo and Albert Fantrau real?

Some pundits have argued that this revelation by ronaldo is definitely untrue.

No manager worth his salt chooses a player based on who scores the most number of goals. No one does that.
CR7 says that he was running in front of the Fantrau guy after Fantrau had skipped the keeper. So, when Fantrau passed the ball to Ronaldo, Ronaldo would have been offside and the third goal would not have stood.
This Fantrau person rounds the keeper and passes to another player, and the manager picks the guy who tapped in the goal into an open net instead of the player who created that goal so skillfully? Say what now?
So, this Fantrau guy is as skillful as Ronaldo and he does not play football? Seriously? Some other manager would have picked him up if he was so darn good.
There is only this mention of Fantrau anywhere. And it's the same story in the same words. If Fantrau means so much to CR7, sure we would have heard more about him.
Ronaldo's move to Sporting in no way resembled what the story says. In 1997, Cristiano's club at the time C.D. Nacional owed Sporting €22,500. They didn't have the money so Rui Alves offered up Ronaldo if Sporting forgot the debt. Sporting weren't keen on the deal, paying that much for a 12 year old. So Nacional convinced a Sporting representative living in Madeira, Marques Freitas, to take him to the mainland and give Ronaldo a trial. There was no championship game, no manager from a big club, no 'the kid who scores the most comes to Sporting' fairy tale.



THE MYTHICAL SIDE OF THE STORY:

The story suggests that had Fantrau taken his chance in front of goal, he would have been rewarded with a move to the club in question, rather than Ronaldo. He claims to have passed the ball to Ronaldo as he believed the future star was better than him and deserved his chance. Fantrau never made a career for himself in the game, but earned a lavish lifestyle through Ronaldo remembering that day and sharing his success with his former team mate in return for that square ball.
It all sounds pretty Hollywood, and that's because it pretty much is. As a story for the football romantics within us all, we want it to be true. We want to believe Fantrau was eventually rewarded for his selfless act, and we want to believe that Ronaldo, for all his glory and success, remembers those that helped him on the way to the top. It is a well-worn story that applies to many walks of life, but in reality, the hard facts are that it simply does not add up.

Lovely, isn't it? What is true is that Ronaldo went on to become one of the greatest footballers of all time, and Fantrau was lost to the game. However, he allegedly came to prominence once Ronaldo had told the story, and inevitably the press and media tracked him down for his take on the tale. The story continues that Fantrau confirmed the claims, and then explained the reason for his apparent luxurious lifestyle in one word – “Ronaldo”.
The documented history of Ronaldo's formative years confirms that he initially played for his local amateur team Andorinha between 1992 and 1995, and then spent two years at Nacional. He joined Sporting in 1997 at the age of 12 following a successful three-day trial. He made his senior debut for Sporting in October 2002, and sufficiently impressed against Manchester United in August 2003 to make the move to Old Trafford. The rest is history.
The story doesn't confirm which club the scout was representing or the age of Ronaldo and Fantrau at the time. One quote attributes the event to an Under-18 championship, but given that Ronaldo was playing senior football with Sporting at the age of 17, that only adds weight to the argument that the story is nothing more than fanciful football mythology.
The role of the scout in the story should also be analysed. Some theorists on the story correctly question why he or she would sign a player purely on his goal return in a single game. However, if this story was true, it is more likely to be that they had already watched Ronaldo and Fantrau and were torn between the two. This was their last opportunity to impress and for one of them to push themselves above the other.





Ronaldo may have scored two goals to Fantrau's one that day, but there would have been more than enough previous research to appreciate how talented he was before rewarding him with a place. Was Fantrau ever really in contention? He never made a career as a professional player, so it is clear that his talent was far less than that of his team mate. Was Fantrau merely a competitive decoy to push the Portuguese in order to see how he performed under that type of pressure?
In reality, it is more likely that none of the above is true. There is no doubt that scouts would have watched Ronaldo from a young age and many clubs would have been aware of his potential talent. Certain words would have been said to him and his family by various scouts and club representatives before he signed for Sporting, and the passage of time inevitably distorts situations and sentences when they are repeated back years later.
And that is the reason why the story belongs in football mythology. Yes, Ronaldo and Fantrau may well have played together as kids, they would have had scouts watching their games, and their performances when being watched would have decided Ronaldo's future as he progressed and developed as a talented young player. The basics of the story inevitably exist, but the romance of it does not.
We all have celebrity stories and experiences that we can reflect upon and tell. However, when we think back to such moments, we only remember small parts of them, and then fill in the blanks. Repeatedly telling a story adds to the distortion, with special emphasis on the moments we want to remember, and an avoidance of the parts that we want to forget. Think about it, if you had played alongside one of the greatest footballers of all time as a kid, wouldn't you want to tell a story about it?



And that is why we have heard of Fantrau. He once played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, and a story made up of small parts of this time in his childhood has now evolved into the myth we debate today. Ronaldo may remember him, he may not, he may have helped him out financially, he may not have. What certainly didn't happen is that his future was decided by the actions of Fantrau when he found himself through on goal.
The internet dictates that Fantrau will remain associated with Ronaldo for ever and a day. The story has been repeated and debated many times, but the inconsistent and limited information serves only to dismiss its credibility. However, the modern game is in desperate need for some romance and emotion, and until the myth is exposed for what it really is, we can still indulge ourselves in this moment of football fantasy.
