Nigerian internet sensation and self-confessed international fraudster Abbas Ramon also known as Hushpuppi, has been sentenced to 11 years jail term in the United States.

Recall that his sentencing was postponed about 3 times before Ciaran Mc Evoy, spokesperson at the US attorney office, was quoted by BBC Pidgin to have said the sentencing was shifted to November 3.

The Naira has continued its massive fall in the parallel market, depreciating to N815 per dollar in Abuja on Monday.

According to the Cable, Bureaux De Change (BDC) operators in the Wuse area of Abuja, said the naira was falling rapidly against the greenback amid increased demand by Nigerians.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has stated that in its bid to reduce the excessive hoarding of naira notes outside the banking system it is set to introduce newly redesigned naira notes for N200, N500 and N1000.

The Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele announced this at a press briefing in Abuja Wednesday.

He noted that the new notes would be in circulation from December 15, 2022 and would also accommodate the old notes as legal tenders until January 21, 2023, which the apex bank has set as the target for mop-up.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has launched a digital certificate.

Speaking at the launch in Lagos on Thursday, WAEC’S Head of National Office, Patrick Areghan, said the certificate is the electronic version of the physical paper certificate.

Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Osun State, has been declared the winner of the election by the electoral commission, INEC.

Announcing the winner in the early hours of Sunday, INEC’s Chief Returning Officer, and Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, declared that Adeleke got a total of 403,371 votes beating the incumbent, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who got 375,027 votes in a keenly contested race.

The Federal Government has declared Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th July, 2022, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

A statement from the Ministry of Interior signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Shuaib Belgore read that the holiday declaration was made by the minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on behalf of the Federal Government.

Embattled UK Prime Minister, Mr. Boris Johnson, has resigned as the leader of the Conservative Party and as prime minister.

Mr Johnson announced his resignation Thursday afternoon at the popular 10, Downing Street, London.

He said he will, however, remain in office until the Conservative Party elects a new leader who will also assume office as prime minister. That is expected to happen before October.

At least 11 persons have burnt beyond recognition in a fatal accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogere Remo-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
