Ground rent is applicable to leasehold (not freehold) house purchases in the UK. It's paid annually. For a house purchase of, say, 150,000 pounds, you could pay £300-400 annually or no groundrent.

However, they passed a bill around April to eradicate this obnoxious ground rent which would likely be implemented in 2025.

I feel the government in Nigeria is desperately looking for revenue. No sane person would allow anything to affect his or her C of O thus, the high probability of paying the ground rent.

Nigeria is treading the path of the west but we don't enjoy some benefits of the counties we emulate.

In my own opinion, technically, people of Edo did not vote in APC or Monday Okpebholo rather, they technically voted against Godwin Obaseki the incumbent Governor. These are my views/reasons..

1. Obaseki alleged interference with the highly revered Benin "Obaship" structure. Benin no be kano where they unbundled Emirate.

2. Victimisation of his former deputy, Philip Shuaibu, despite the court ruling reinstating him yet, he refused to honour the court judgement. No matter the offense of Shuaibu, he should have forgiven him considering the first impression/loyalty that people say it lasts longer... Shuaibu stood by him and even defected to PDP with him when his political ship was sinking. Most people never believed Shuaibu could take side against his mentor -Oshiomole.

3. Adams Oshiomole's influence. Like him or hate him? Adams still remains a heavy weight in Edo politics. A former governor and an Incumbent senator that controls one-third of Edo political region/space

Trump never imagined that Kamala Harris would give him an excellent battle in the debate, leaving him without knowing how to debate a successful woman, I think he dug his own grave with the lies and hatred spewing out of him. The American people are tired of that same playbook!
