First of all, if you are looking to buy G-wagon after doing this business for 3 weeks…forget am! But if you are looking to build up capital, own a shop and start your own hussle…then thank me later. This business was actually borne out of necessity. I use my school fees enter BTS (if you know what I mean) and Barca cast bet. Exam was 5 weeks away and Unizik no go gree u write without the receipt. I try borrow money from my guys but everybody just dry. Finally I decided to see if I can get any product and market it. I asked my Uncle to send me some belts he brought back from London…but mehn the price was not cool and boys buy belt like once in a lifetime. I finally searched online and saw some websites that sold products wholesale. After several days, I sold my fairly used Infinix Zero for 10k (desperation) and ordered from bayaboss.com. The website offered free shipping nd cash on delivery which was cool at the time. The chain watches were sold for 1k each. I bought 10 pieces and to my greatest surprise, I was able to finish the stock within 48 hours (selling at 2grand each). I ordered again and within 5 days, they delivered and it was finished in 3 days. I was able to do it like 3 more times before exam started. The moral lesson of the story is that, it takes the right product to win the right customer. Oya start thanking me . |
So these is my top 5 picks for now…you can add yours too…make the list longer. 1. Konga.com Konga needs no introduction…they revolutionized e-commerce in Nigeria. Whether you are shopping for fashion, electronics or cooking utensils, Konga has something to offer. What started as an online shop has turned into the largest online mall in Nigeria and they keep on expanding their product line…why won’t they? When they are enjoying venture capital money 2. Jumia actually launched before Konga.com, but now, one can compare both of them on any basis, call them giants of their own accord if you like. Their product line also ranges from clothing to fashion accessories to electronics. They have warehouses in over 6 African countries including Ghana, Kenya and Cote d’Ivoire...and oh, they enjoy venture capital money too (Rocket Internet). 3. Kaymu.com.ng Kaymu is actually a proper online marketplace that offers third-party adverts for goods ranging from electronics to clothing. The company operates in so many countries of the world including Pakistan and Sri Lanka and just recently celebrated their 2nd anniversary in Nigeria. Kaymu also enjoys venture capital backing from Rocket Internet. 4. Bayaboss.com Bayaboss is actually the only B2B (Business-to-Business) website on this list. Launched in 2014, the website is Nigeria’s leading bulk purchase platform where retailers can buy goods in bulk at heavily-discounted prices. Launched in 2014, it product range keeps growing everyday and ranges from fashion articles to electronics. They enjoy a considerable market share in Nigeria’s online B2B industry. 5. Taafoo.com Taafoo is Nigeria’s online retail giant for Clothing and Fashion accessories. They offer a wide range of fashion articles as well as designer articles. Started in September 2009 as an online social messaging platform for Nigerian celebrities, taafoo.com has over the years evolved into a premier online retail destination for fashion in Nigeria. |
