The first indigenous University is University of Nigeria Nsukka.

Its two campuses are situated at Nsukka and Enugu metropolis, with Nsukka as the main campus hosting many more departments than the Enugu campus.

You want to know another reason those guys are always quick to write down UNN? It's because it's the only university in Nigeria that its certificate carries the country name, others have their certificate bearing the name of the city they are situated in like Unilag - BSc Lagos, Unibadan - BSc Ibadan, UNIZIK - BSc Awka, UniPort - BSc Porthacourt etc but UNN - BSc Nig. (for Nigeria) .


Fun facts, the General Studies Program GSP being carried out in most tertiary institutions across the country now, emanated from UNN. The Federal Government adopted it for other tertiary institutions because in the early '60s when graduates from the nation's institutions like UNN, Unibadan, Unilag, ABU go for govt and individual interviews students of UNN always excel among others, the staff of other schools who had been mocking UNN for taking one year to teach students courses that are irrelevant to their disciplines now laised with the govt to help them in adopting that method when they found out it was what gave UNN an edge amongst them.

Another innovation from UNN that is still being done across tertiary institutions in the country in Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations - PUTME. UNN thought it wise to independently screen students that JAMB had sent to them to be admitted to sift the best amongst them.

Most of those first structures in UNN are still standing strong till date like the Art Theater and Institute of African Studies buildings which abuts each other, Haldins Building currently part of a block for faculty of Social Sciences, Mary Slessor Hall, Old Nnamdi Azikiwe Library and others like staff quarters.

You just used google. Just admit you dont even known anywhere near the town.

Obukpa is the major contributor of land to what is today known as UNN, so he is right there, part of the stadium and boys hostels area through engineering faculty to Vet. Medicine down to Odim are all land of Obukpa, even Nru shares boundary with the school.
