I am grown now and I can afford to take myself to go buy ice cream and meat pies. I know where the staff live, I know where the ice cream and meat pies are made. And I now understand most establishments don't treat their staffs in eateries well. That's why people don't stay long on the job. In the space of 2 months, you can see several new faces. It breaks me when I had to realized, my salary will be deducted when I was working in a similar establishment. They remove from your salary for any random reason and you can't challenge it. I finally got to leave and it felt like I was off shackles. Life has been good |
I walk in a super mart where ice cream and meat pies are sold. It reminds me of when I was much younger. After church, mum would take us to Mr Biggs to take ice cream and meat pies. And every Sundays I get to wonder about the staff, where they live and where they made the cake and the ice cream. I never really liked church because I couldn't make much sense of things being thought. I always asked questions and other kids thought I was just supposed to swallow everything hook line and sinker. But if I wanted ice cream, I must go to Church with the family. Then one day, an idea struck me. What if I just ignored the ice cream and meat pie treats. I could just lie I was sick and stay at home. Yes! It worked but the meat pie and ice cream only came once. The other times I lied that I was sick, the ice cream and meat pies didn't come home to meet me😂 Without the doubt, when I grew up. The Church has played a lot of positive part in my journey. The kindness and social fellowship makes Christianity unique Nonetheless, I have my doubts and my doubts have me. |
I have thought about it, I see women selling cooked foods and other canteens. Sometimes, they are all smiles when I want to buy food. Women seems to go with the flow of life as it comes. Yes too much struggles make them cry and have wrinkled skins and face. Women care much about their skin and face, unlike men. Men designed for war and all kinds of suffering ![]() I don't see men buying creme to make them look younger, they accept their realities and try to fix what they can. You Fix yourself as a man, you fix the people around you, you face the battles and struggles only to realize it feels like all odds are against you. Of course, all odds are against you. Only way is to make sure people around you grow, most especially the younger folks so that you can make each other strong. |
I love the mentality that when push comes to shove, simply work harder and the results will come. But when you are a young man, most especially a Nigerian, you have to think harder than you work. Nowadays, I am so scared understanding those lean looking taxi drivers and commercial bus drivers: If they couldn't fix the society so that they could have a wonderful old age, what can I do to change that? You see them earn money daily and you think they have it all. Only to realize the taxi isn't theirs and they had to pay for the hire. Can't continue to blame every successive government at over 40 and 50 years Is there a short cut out of hardship in Nigeria? |

Their president looks really young and he's Making a good decision |
It's part of the aging process, you won't look younger forever, so you have to do something to stand out, maybe become a governor or a president. Just stand out from the rest |

I don't see any problem here, the most important thing is he was paid for attempting to stop the rain, there is no job with a 100% guaranteed outcome. Everything you detailed points to the saying, "someone who did something painful today can still do something good tomorrow". |
That's for your own good. They want you to save your money |
yarimo:I don't see anything wrong with that. He's doing a good job. In the future when he wants to become the president, we will help him to reference it |

Get a Life Man Get a Life Man |
But in a case whereby everyone chose to do the ugly, what becomes of the society? I see people, some trekking, some in the bus and some riding their cars. I see school children going with their parents. Some going alone and when they close in the afternoon thinking they are doing something special. I see workers too closing in the evening jumping from one bus to the other or getting stucked in traffic. They think they are doing something special Is there anyone doing something unique? Why do people feel special or unique? Some go as far as telling you they are special and chosen by a divine entity. And the divine entity is telling them what to do. But you can't beat the birth and death mathematics. If you were unique, you'd be beyond that |
My first major trip when growing up was traveling from kwara to Ekiti state. When I got to Ado ekiti, I saw a lot of face I have never seen before. People living and going by the day. Then later at a point the following year, I travelled to kano state. When I got to Kano, I was thinking and surprised because I saw a lot of people. So much people speaking a different language. Non of them had a face I had seen previously. Humanity must be unique, no one looks like the other. Different hair, height: different cheeks formation. Different face ratio. As time went on, due to academics and NYSC, I was able to travel to the south south and the south east. So many people. People just living their lives. At a point when traveling through Benin in Edo State, I witnessed a misunderstanding between a bus conductor and a thug. I wonder what made the man become a thug. It seems the way the society works, someone has to do the ugly and someone has to correct it. |
