Pastor Samson Farounbi, has told an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court, Agodi, in Ibadan, that the small size of his penis made his estranged wife to deny him sex for a long period. Farounbi disclosed this on Monday when testifying before the court on a case of divorce he instituted against Tope Farounbi. He had requested the court to end the 19-year-old union on the grounds of unrest of mind, threat to life and lack of respect for his family. Narrating his ordeals, the Pastor said his wife, who was a fruit seller, used to return home at late hours every day and refused to have sex with him. ”There was a day I challenged her why she always return late and denying me sex. ”She confessed that the small size of my penis was responsible for keeping late outside and for refusing to have sex with her. ”She suggested to buy local herb for the treatment of my micro penis which cost N5,000 but I priced it down to N4,000. ”I got myself treated with the ‘Agbo'(local herb) but she still felt reluctance to allow me have access to her body,” he narrated. The pastor further alleged that the defendant maltreated his mother when she was living with him and that the ill-treatment forced his aged mother to relocate to Ilesha where she died few months later. He told the court that Tope used to curse every member of his family and always cursed his blood brothers when they visited him. ”My lord, she is a devil, always fighting people especially females, that come to my church for prayer, accusing me of flirting with them. ”We have never stayed beyond two years in every house I rented since we married 19 years ago due to her stubbornness and troublesome character. ”The five children of our union lack home training and always cursing me whenever I tried to correct any of the kids for doing wrong things. ”In fact, our first child has ran away from home now and I cannot even locate his whereabouts. ”I urge the court to separate us so that I can have peace of mind to do my pastoral work,” he pleaded. In her defence, Tope denied all the allegations but urged the court to dissolve the marriage as requested by the plaintiff. She accused her husband of womanising, saying he never care for her welfare but was in the habit of drinking alcohol. The President of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun and the two court assessors, Chief Wahab Popoola and Chief Alao Ganiyu, in their unanimous decision dissolved the marriage. Balogun said the court was handicapped to settle the dispute between the parties because the couple had agreed to end the marriage. He ordered that three kids that are males including the first born that ran away should be in the custody of the plaintiff while the remaining two daughters should remain with the defendant. He further directed the plaintiff to pay N8,000 monthly allowance for the upkeep of the two kids in the defendant custody. He admonished the parties to refrain from fomenting trouble or disturb public peace. NAN http://dailynaijamode.com/my-wife-denies-me-sex-over-my-micro-penis-pastor-tells-court/ |

In a rather bizarre case, a Zimbabwean man from Murambinda died after he was slapped by a man he had accused of having an adulterous affair with a married woman. New Zimbabwe reports that Manicaland Province Deputy Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxon Chananda confirmed the incident. According to Chananda, the ironically named Takesure Urayayi of Ngudu village under Chief Nyasha and his friend Moses Kwarimba were returning home after drinking beer at a local growth point when the now deceased, Lucky Taonezvi, approached them. Taonezvi confronted Urayayi whom he accused of having an extramarital affair with a married woman. Apparently, this did not go down well with Urayayi who responded by slapping Taonezvi once in the face. To everyone’s horror, Taonezvi fell down unconscious and died a few minutes later. After realising what had happened, Urayayi handed himself over to the police. The deceased’s body was ferried to Murambinda hospital for post mortem and the results are yet to be released. Assistant Inspector Chanada added: “Member of the public should desist from resolving their misunderstanding through violence. They should learn to resolve their disputes peacefully to avoid loss of life. http://dailynaijamode.com/terrible-man-slaps-colleague-to-death-after-being-accused-of-adultery/ |

Lagos has a lot of deep rooted histories. From the days of our ancestors to the colonial era, a lot of events occurred which brought about the creation of some areas and the names given to them, which they are being called up till today. Here are the histories behind some popular areas in Lagos. Oju Elegba The popular area in Lagos is not without its roots. Oju Elegba which literarily means “the eyes of the cane owner” actually has a deep—rooted meaning. The name Oju Elegba originated from the idol called Elegba, whose shrine was located at a spot called Oju. However, the name Oju Elegba emanated from the description of that spot which is Oju Elegba, meaning the shrine of Elegba. REPORT THIS AD Ojota Ojota used was a military settlement in the late 18th century where soldiers practised their shooting. The area had several gun firing spots and became known as “Oju Ota” in Yoruba which means “Bullet spots”. It later metamorphosed into Ojota which it is called now. Isale Eko REPORT THIS AD Eko was the land area now known as Lagos Island where the king’s palace was built. Oba Ado and the warriors from Benin, as well as some of the indigenous people who sought safety, settled down in the southern part of Eko called “Isale Eko”, Isale literally meaning bottom, but must have been used to indicate downtown Lagos. Abule Egba This area is on the outskirts of Lagos and got its name from the early settlers who were Egba people from Abeokuta. The area was first called “Abule awon egba” in Yoruba, which means “Village of Egba people”. It later became “Abule Egba”. Apongbon Apongbon is one of Lagos’ most popular markets, and it’s also quite close to the popular Oke-Arin market. It got its name from the then acting governor of the Lagos colony, William McCoskry, who had a Red Beard. The Yorubas who couldn’t pronounce the colonial governor’s name decided to describe him by his red beard and started calling him “Oyinbo to pon ni igbon” meaning a red-bearded man. It later became Apongbon. Magodo Magodo is now a posh area, but in the past, it used to be sacred land. The residents had a lot of taboos and one of them was to avoid using mortars and pestles, “Ma gun odo” which means “Don’t pound it”. It later became ‘Magodo Ebute-Metta Ebute-Metta is one of the earliest harbour docks where British ships berthed at. It was a hub for trade and commerce in colonial times. Ebute-Metta is a fusion of the words “Ebute” which means the seaside in Yoruba, and “Metta” which means three. Agidingbi The British Naval forces invaded Lagos in 1885 under the pretext of stopping slavery and human sacrifice. The noise their canon made was really loud, and the sound was heard round the streets of Lagos Island. The people described the sound as “A gb din gbinnn”. Which means a loud groundbreaking noise. The name Agidingbi was borne out of this. Victoria Island Victoria Island was also a major hub for commerce and British ships berthed there often. It’s named after Queen Victoria of England who was Queen from 1837-1901. Ikeja Ikeja, the capital of Lagos, is actually an abbreviation for “Ikorodu And Epe Joint Administration”. It was coined by the colonial masters for ease of administration http://dailynaijamode.com/10-popular-locations-in-lagos-the-meaning-behind-their-names/

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said replacing service chiefs is not the solution to the security challenges facing the country. Adeboye spoke at the headquarters of RCCG, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, during a Thanksgiving service with the theme, ‘Victory over marital storm’. The cleric spoke to journalists after the service through the Assistant General Overseer, Administration and Personnel, RCCG, Pastor Johnson Odesola. He said, “I believe the service chiefs are working and aside from those that have attained their retirement age, they have been studying the situation of the country in terms of security and would have some plans they are working on. If they are just changed, the new service chiefs would have to start all over again. “I believe in good succession plan whereby those to replace the current service chiefs would learn from the incumbents and only need to continue from where they stop.” The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams, also attended the service. He said the country would only make appreciable progress after getting it right in leadership. Adams said religion should not be an issue in civil society, citing the United States of America with its population and diverse religions as an example. He stated, “I am a Muslim by birth, but I came to worship in a church with my wife as I have worshipped in many churches. I enjoy every bit of the service led by a cleric that has been serving God for over 40 years. With the prayers following every problem he mentioned, it is a new turn in my life.” http://dailynaijamode.com/sacking-service-chiefs-wont-solve-insecurity-adeboye/

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to commence his second term with a resolve to stop the diversion of local government funds by state governors. For years, state governors have reduced local government councils to an appendage of the states by denying them of their allocated funds, and diverting same to other uses, contrary to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended. This has rendered local government councils incapable of fulfilling their constitutional roles to the citizens. To stem this tide, and ensure total adherence to the dictates of the constitution, two agencies of government, the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), have sprung into action, determined to fight and punish further diversion of local government funds starting from June 1, 2019, three days into President Buhari’s new term. The Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), in a statement signed by Ahmed Dikko, its Acting Chief Media Analyst, issued a stern warning to financial institutions, public servants and other stakeholders that diversion of local government funds would attract heavy sanctions starting from June 1, 2019.According to the statement, “With effect from 1st June, any bank that allows any transaction from any local government account without monies first reaching a particular local government account will be sanctioned 100 per cent, both locally and internationally.“In addition, a provision is also made to the effect that there shall be no cash withdrawal from any local government for a cumulative amount exceeding N500,000:00 per day. Any other transaction must be done through valid cheques or electronic funds transfer. It added that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) have all been briefed. This development will give full financial autonomy to the councils. It is not, however, clear how this will affect Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created by states but not recognised by the 1999 Constitution as it will be unconstitutional and illegal to allocate funds from the center to them. The Executive Secretary of PACAC, Professor Sadiq Isah Radda, during a visit to Gombe State, also spoke of the determination of the Federal Government to ensure that as from June this year, all the 774 local government councils receive their full budgetary allocations. He added that the committee was working in collaboration with other agencies to stop the diversion of local government fund. |
