How will you feel, if you are being owed your salary, benefits, and allowance due to you for over 10years? This is the sad story facing the senior citizen and pensioners of the Nigerian ports authority, today at the headquarters of the Nigerian ports authority Marina Lagos, the concerned pensioners staged a peaceful protest to demand their rights from the management and executives of their organization.
According to the law of the Federal republic of Nigeria, workers and pensioners are due to receive increment and benefits after every 5 years. And for the past 10 years, they have refused to pay accrued benefits of the senior citizens who are still breadwinners of their families.
Speaking with the chairman of the concerned pensioners Mr Johnson Olukoya had this to say, we have worked in this organization for years, all the comfort and benefits they are enjoying now is part of our sweat and hard work we are not begging for food or money but requesting our accrued benefits of over 15 years, our children and families depend on us because there are no jobs out there for our children.
The little we are getting as a pension is what our family is managing, why then owes us.
Please, we are seeking with humble hearts pay us and may you not be denied what is due to you or may you not use your old age to labor.
After the early morning lockdown the executives had a meeting with the concerned pensioners and at the meeting the N.P.A management agreed to set up a committee to look into their grievance of the senior citizens and promised to attend to her pensioners in the next three weeks.

What future are we promised as Nigerians, where do we go when we cry for help? Is there hope for our
Future?
