it's just very simple.. Just take my state Ebonyi for instance with a population of almost 3.8 million, that's more than the population of Qatar.. If we have the same budget as Qatar, consecutively for 5 years, why won't we developed like them? ... Our only problem is this kind of structure that we practice.. Our governors go to collect free money every month from FG, share it among themselves, then wait for another month to do the same.. This has made our leaders to be mentally, physically and morally lazy.. Who will want to stress himself when you know that a loot is waiting for you at the end of the month to share? .. That's why they don't mind wiping a whole family just to get there.. With this kind of structure, the future is really scary..

Many Nigerians will still come here to say Nigeria is a rich country that we should all be rich if the money is simply well shared. They can't wrap their heads around this information as they will still argue we are in this condition because our leaders steal the money.

The truth is we are poorly led as the government lacks ideas on how to raise money to run itself not to talk of the country.

Tell any Nigerian that the government needs to raise more from tax and witness a fierce attack asking what has been done with it one earlier collected.
Chances are higher that person has never paid any taxes his adult life.

Yet the person will pester you with complaints of how there are no high speed trains in Nigeria, no world class hospitals or good super highway all over the country.

The $18b we want to spend is not even earned by the government as a huge chunk of it is loan or deficit spending. How on earth do you spend $18b on 170 million people while another country spends $ 44b on 5 million people and you expect a similar result. Is that not a joke?

The main reason why Nigeria's budget is so small is because it is an extremely poor country, and the reason why the country is poor is because the productivity of most Nigerians is extremely low. For over a period now, I and some of my friends and colleague tries to ponder on the country Nigeria, why we are so poor despite living in the midst of wealth, why our standard of living is so low when compared to other parts of the world and why milllions of youth have remained unemployed.

We embarked on individual and group research about Nigeria, our economic history, the way we started, the success story, where we got it all wrong and where we will possible find ourselves in the nearest future. I must confess we have found a lot of things, things we don't believe ever existed in our dear country.

In our minds and heart, we concluded that a united Nigeria "might" never work considering our political history and recent happenings unless the system is refurbished or restructured with the spirit of unity and oneness not hate and discrimination. We forsee the country could be broken anyime soon looking at recent political pressure.

Being all Yorubas, our decision was to plan for a new nation with the title "Commonwealth of Yorland" incase the unexpected happens so that we won't find ourselves in the same condition with present day Nigeria. We have gone on research on several sectors trying to bring out a viable masterplan in achieving greatness using the develop world as case study.

The preceding intro is actually not the subject focus here but I want to show you one of many thing we've discovered. It's about the country's national budget. Sadly, for the second consecutive year of Buhari's rule, the budget is being passed and signed after six month into the year, a time we should be planning for the budget of the coming year.

The size of our budget is $18 billion and we are 191 million people. It was shocking to find that so many nation has a bigger budget than ours and it was most devastating to discover that country's of less than 40 million people has bigger expenditure than ours. Despite this, Our politicians are world highest earners. This is very unacceptable, we really need to find a way to boost our revenue.

The figure below shows a list of 32 countries of less than 40 million people with a budget more than double of Nigerian budget. The populatin figure is according 2017 estimation by "Worldometers" and the budget size is according to the "CIA world fact book".

Nigeria is my country, it is where I was born and brought up, it is a nation I deeply care, it is a nation I know a lot about. A country almagated in 1914 by Britain with personal aim of making profit for their nation, it is a country "united" in diversity, it is a country of many great men, many great warriors and world beaters. It is the land of milk and honey.

Our nation was formed by the amalgamation of two British protectorates in 1914 because one has budget surplus while the other is recording deficit. The British ruled our nation for decades, giving us little participation in government but we were finally freed on that day; 1st October, 1960; then a new chapter began of hope began, not only for ourselves but the rest of Africa.

At independence, the country has a bigger GDP per capita than South Korea and it is a more preferred investment destination to Japan. It is the world largest producer of palm oil and Cocoa. It currency was so strong that it outclassed the ever-strong Dollar and Pound Sterling and it was seen by the whole world as the hope of the African continent. A nation set to break the jinx of darkness in the dark continent.

Today in a country referred to as giant of Africa, things has fallen apart. Millions now lives below the poverty line, many Youths remained unemployed and a lot underemployed, the currency get weaker day after day and the corruption level in the nation is genius. The counrty have never failed to appear on the top 20 of the Fragile State Index (formerly Failed State Index) since 2007.

The country's politicians are world highest earner and the nation's civil servants earns peanut as monthly wages. The country's minimum wage is N18,000 ($48.65 as at the time I'm writing this), that's not even enough to watch a live game at the Emirate Stadium. The education system? bad will be an understatement. In terms of Infrastructure, the country is not there. The question is; why do we remain as one nation?

Apart from the fact that we are deeply divided along ethnic, tribal, lingusitic and religious line, nothing seems to be working in this country. Just seven years after independence, we are in war, with who? ourselves. The only thing that keep us together is the looting ruling class who day by day steals from the treasury of the nation. The day their is nothing more to steal, the day the country breaks up.

The labour of our heroes past is already in vain because the nation was never bound in Freedom, Peace and Unity. Patriotism is lost in the countrymen and everyone tries to jilt or outsmart one another to get daily bread. It no more survival of the fittest but of the smartest. The nation has lost it pride, dignity and prestige in the international stage, now a laughing stock, a bird with no feather, flocking within rat and rodents.

Where is Nigerian Airways? it has gone down the river Niger. What about our textile industries, I believe those went through the river Benue. Is your area getting 24 hours uninterrrupted power supply? Benin and Gambia have been experiencing that for over a decade. What about the healthcare sector? It's in a state of comatose. How far does not passport weigh, does it command respect for you? Nations like Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, etc that we can feed at independence have overtime left us behind. Where lies the pride of this nation?

Total breakup may be or may not be the solution to our problems but at this time, it is a gamble worth taking. Despite the need for breakup, yet, no serious separatist group on ground. You said IPOB? Whatelse have they done apart from calling others names, blaming others for their misfortune and preaching hates. It's a pity all seperatist groups in the country has root with Hypocrisy.

IPOB gained momentum due to the fact that the man from Daura won the 2015 presidential election, where were they when Goodluck Jonathan was in power? I believe the agitation would have being easier when an Ijaw man was there. Did you say the Arewa Youth? Was their any declaration or quit notice when Buhari was around. It more like Buhari is now only in Government, Osinbajo is in Power. That is the hypocrisy in the nation's separatist movement.

Though IPOB happens to be the most serious seperatist group so far in the nation, the reactions of Igbos after the Kaduna declaration still makes one to ponder on the fact that if Biafra really want to secede or it's just a mere threat. This is a more golden opportunity to settle things once and for all, though the Northern youth has done it the akward way, we only need dialogue to settle this and not war, not violence, not victimization.

Nigeria is my country, my home and my pride, I love the people and the nation but I no more believe in it. I no more believe in a nation where many are billionaires and millions can afford a dollar to feed per day. I no more believe in a nation where cruelty and injustice is the order of the day. I no more believe in a nation where the kids of the rich deserve to be in Havard, Yale, Oxford and Cambrigde and the poor kids only get OAU, UI, Unilag, UNN, ABU, Unilorin whom classes aren't well equipped and halls of residence invested with Bed Bugs.

The predicament of this nation is brought to us by the previous generation who are determined merchant of loot, they are ambassadors of poverty who have their heads abroad and anus at home. They brought this problem and inflicted them on our generation, we should not do the same for the next. Imagine if we are this divided after just 57 years of independence, wonder what will be happening when we clock 100, 150 and 200 years. Here, I rest my case.
