Aussie Nick Kyrgios has finally made his highly-anticipated return tennis in 2023, but the Wimbledon finalist admitted he was a long way from his best after going down at the Stuttgart Open. Kyrgios has been out since last year having succumbed to a knee injury, which left fans in shock as he withdrew from the Australian Open. And while many thought he would return in time for a rare appearance at Roland Garros, Kyrgios remained sidelined after knee surgery. However, the 28-year-old has been building up his fitness in time for another grass court run having made the final at Wimbledon last year. Unfortunately, his long-awaited return didn't go as planned as the Aussie went down in straight sets to Yibing Wu 7-5, 6-3. Wu had never played in a grass court tournament on the main tour, but held his nerves to defeat the Aussie. Kyrgios appeared to be serving well, but was hampered in his movement from the baseline. He seemed reluctant to chase down points and admitted during a change of ends that his knee was causing him pain. "I feel my knee every point. I can't walk without pain," Kyrgios said, before dropping his head into his hands in frustration. Following the match, Kyrgios pleaded with fans to give him time as he works his way back to fitness. "Be patient with me my fans please," Kyrgios tweeted. "It's a process to get back to where I was. I know it's hard for you to see me perform like today, but I need more time and hopefully can get back to where I was." Yibing was no easy draw for Kyrgios with the World No.64 fighting for every point in the scrap. Tennis fans were quick to rally around Kyrgios after the Australian did his best after more than six months away from a competitive match. https://legit365.com.ng/kyrgios-asks-fans-for-patience-after-first-match-after-injury/

Pep Guardiola and Kevin De Bruyne admit winning the Champions League has become both a dream and an obsession for Manchester City. City stand on the brink of glory as they prepare to face Inter Milan in the final in Istanbul on Saturday. Guardiola's side are strong favourites for a game that could not only see them crowned European champions for the first time but complete the treble. The Premier League winners are hoping to put years of frustration behind them after several near misses in their pursuit of the prize they covet most. De Bruyne gave his feelings on the matter when he was asked if victory was a "dream" or an "obsession" as City held a pre-match press conference at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium on Friday. "Maybe both, it depends who you ask," said the Belgium playmaker. "Every professional player wants to win the Champions League and be on top. "If you can win the Champions League, you've reached one of the biggest things you can." "To compete every year is amazing, and I've been able to compete against the best, but we've got a chance to close that if we are good enough." City have reached the knockout stages of the tournament in each of Guardiola's seven seasons as manager but they are yet to fulfil their ambition. Their runners-up finish two seasons ago, when they were beaten by Chelsea in the final, is the closest they have come. Guardiola, who won the competition twice as Barcelona boss, said: "It's absolutely a dream, yes. "To achieve things you always have to have the correct proportion of obsession and desire. "It's a positive word for the desire and will to win it. It is of course a dream for us." City's outstanding season has been fuelled by the goalscoring of Erling Haaland. The prolific Norwegian has netted 52 goals in an outstanding first campaign at the Etihad Stadium. Should the Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin present Manchester City with Europe’s greatest club trophy before midnight in Istanbul on Saturday he will do so on the third anniversary of another seismic day in the history of both club and governing body. https://legit365.com.ng/uefa-have-given-up-fighting-man-city-now-the-english-side-are-going-to-dominate-their-competition/It was on June 10, 2020, in Lausanne, that a three-day hearing concluded to define the future of City. The club’s team of eleven lawyers and one expert witness in the room that day had, as it would turn out, prevailed. A two year-ban from Uefa competition would be overturned. A €30 million fine cancelled and replaced with a €10 million fine for a separate single charge. The credibility of Uefa’s financial fair play rules would be in ruins. Just 15 months earlier, Uefa had lost a case at the same Court of Arbitration for Sport [Cas] to Paris Saint-Germain. Defeat to City served notice that the nation-state clubs, with their unlimited wealth, and legal power it brought, were too powerful an adversary for Uefa and its lawmakers. The infamous threat in one of the leaked emails that formed the centre of the City case felt prophetic. The club’s Abu Dhabi owners would, it was alleged, unleash 50 lawyers for ten years at the cost of €30 million, rather than bow to Uefa’s rules. As it turned out, City had won in a much shorter timeframe. The Uefa process had banned and fined the club on February 14, 2020. By June 10 of that year, City had won the case on appeal at Cas, even if it was not until the following month that the result would be declared. https://legit365.com.ng/uefa-have-given-up-fighting-man-city-now-the-english-side-are-going-to-dominate-their-competition/

Keep Reading --> https://legit365.com.ng/erling-haaland-admits-feeling-pressure-ahead-of-manchester-citys-champions-league-final/Victory would not only end years of frustration and near-misses in pursuit of the continent's top club prize but complete a glorious treble. City's outstanding season, which has also included winning the FA Cup as well as a fifth domestic league title in six years, has been fuelled by the goals of Haaland. The prolific Norwegian has scored 52 times in an outstanding first season at the Etihad Stadium and is well aware the club hope he proves the final piece in their jigsaw. "Of course I feel pressure," the 22-year-old said. "I would lie if I said I didn't. ‘Not Being Underdog’ Affected Alcaraz At Roland Garros Says Djokovic 👇 Carlos Alcaraz proved human like the rest of us as he was overwhelmed by the moment which ultimately cost him the match. https://legit365.com.ng/not-being-underdog-affected-alcaraz-at-roland-garros-says-djokovic/If you haven't watched the match between Novak Djokovic and the young Spanish prodigy, you might not understand the first sentence of this piece. Alcaraz for the most part looked really good against Djokovic even though he was noticeably nervous in the opening stages of the 2023 Roland Garros semifinal. The cramps that he experienced were full-body cramps and admitted in his post-match press conference that he was simply overwhelmed by the moment tensing up quite a bit. It happens, he's a young player who is a Grand Slam champion, but facing Djokovic in the semifinal is something entirely different. https://legit365.com.ng/not-being-underdog-affected-alcaraz-at-roland-garros-says-djokovic/ |

Stefanos Tsitsipas didn't go all the way at Roland Garros as he once again ran into a rising star that proved better. https://legit365.com.ng/tsitsipas-blames-melatonin-pills-and-nap-for-alcaraz-loss-at-roland-garros/Last year's Roland Garros saw him eliminated in the 4th round by Holger Rune who simply overwhelmed him with his style of play. This year's Roland Garros for him finished after a match against Carlos Alcaraz with the Spaniard again dominating quite similarly to the way Rune dominated in the rallies last year. It wasn't a very aggressive match from Tsitsipas who once again played a bit too reserved which is problematic against this young and up-and-coming player that play the most aggressive tennis we ever saw. The backhand was a really big target for Alcaraz in the match but Tsitsipas greatly held. There wasn't fire in his game and he might have an explanation for that. https://legit365.com.ng/tsitsipas-blames-melatonin-pills-and-nap-for-alcaraz-loss-at-roland-garros/ |
