A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress at the 2019 elections, Charles Udeogaranya, has thrown his weight behind the presidential ambition of Labour Party flagbearer, Peter Obi.

Udeogaranya, who affirmed his position in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, said the Muslim-Muslim ticket posture of his ex-party was a clear sign of an Islamisation agenda and despotic government.

This is even as he declared Obi as the most credible candidate to lead Nigeria out of the woods.

The politician’s public endorsement came barely three months after another erstwhile APC presidential aspirant, Dr. S.K.C. Ogbonnia, withdrew his support for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to publicly endorse Obi.


Ogbonnia had attributed the reason for his action for dumping Tinubu to his frailty and “shady background.”

Udeogaranya on Tuesday also chose to tread the same path when he threw his weight behind the LP candidate.

According to him, there is a grave need for Nigerians to shun primordial sentiments and vote the right candidate because “times like these demand patriotism and self-help to make the best decisions for our country Nigeria.”

The former APC aspirant said he was unhappy that Nigerians were witnessing what he called a “grinding economic plague” that had driven Nigerians to the lowest ebb of desperation.

He said he was also unhappy that Nigeria was sliding into anarchy, with the rights of the citizenry wantonly trampled upon.

He said, “It needs to be emphasised that the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) being imposed on Nigerians is a clear sign of the Islamisation agenda and despotic government that are to come. Indeed, that ticket and those flying it have nothing but deceit to offer.

“And we further fear that the pack that conceived the Muslim-Muslim ticket and audaciously imposed it on the rest of us will not at some point begin to behead the people who see things differently unless they give up their right of freedom of worship and expression.

“It was before our own eyes that a young female Christian student called Deborah Samuel was sent to her untimely death in the most despicable manner, by stoning, her body set ablaze for allegedly expressing her constitutional right to freedom of expression. Her gruesome death culminated to the telling reality that our society is no longer safe to live in as the average Nigerian’s constitutionally-guaranteed right to life is being brutally trampled upon.

“Barely one year ago, our youths engaged in a sweeping, non-violent EndSARS protest, demanding a reformation of our policing agency.

“Sadly, rather than offering succour to the protesting youths, they were most gruesomely mowed down with guns and bullets purchased with our scarce resources. Those arms and ammunition were meant to protect the citizenry against aggression. But they were turned against those killed; they were used against harmless, defenceless youths for daring to ventilate their feelings. They were taken down as if their lives did not matter.”

He declared, “With regard to what I have noted, and not limited to them all, I, Chief Charles Udoka Udeogaranya, endorse the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi as a worthy candidate to pilot the affairs of Nigeria and help to bring to a halt, the perpetual backsliding of Nigeria and possibly reposition Nigeria for better.”

Atiku Collapsed In Abuja, Flown To Paris For Treatment – Fani Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode on Tuesday said that Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is critically ill.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Fani Kayode who is the Director of New Media, Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) said Atiku collapsed shortly after landing in Abuja from Kaduna after complaining of severe pains all over his body.

He wrote “After his outing in Kaduna yesterday Atiku Abubakar fell critically ill. He complained of dizzy spells and severe pains in his head and all over his body throughout the flight to Abuja”.

“After landing at Abuja airport he collapsed. He was flown to Paris for medical attention immediately”.

“For the purposes of damage control they took pictures of him with others the following morning from Paris but please do not be fooled”.

“There is something very wrong with the PDP presidential candidate in terms of his health and they don’t want the Nigerian public to know. God be with him”.

However speaking with our correspondent, a member of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation who asked not to be quoted described Fani-Kayode’s claim as baseless.

“Yesterday, you all saw Atiku’s pictures and video with Tinubu at the airport. Does he appear like someone who is sick and has severe pains all over his body? Atiku did not even get to Abuja before traveling abroad. Fani-Kayode must be high on something.”

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has claimed its demands have not been satisfactorily addressed, despite agreeing to call-off its eight-month strike.

ASUU’s National Executive Council (NEC) took the decision to suspend the industrial action during its overnight meeting that was rounded up in the early hours of Friday.

In a memo signed by the union’s president, Emmanuel Osodeke, they made it clear that some of its issues remain unresolved.

Osodeke also listed some of the sticking points in the negotiations with the National Assembly and the federal government.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the issues include funding for revitalisation of public universities, earned academic allowances, proliferation of public universities, visitation panels/release of white papers, university transparency and accountability solution (UTAS) as a broad spectrum software to stop illegality and provide for an alternative payment platform in the university system, renegotiation of the 2009 agreement.

“While appreciating the commendable efforts of the leadership of the house of representatives and other patriotic Nigerians who waded into the matter, NEC noted with regret that the issues in dispute are yet to be satisfactorily addressed,” the memo read in part.

ASUU has, however, directed lecturers to resume with immediate effect.

He stressed that the administration of President Buhari had “shown improved governmental responses to change, and collaboration between government, investors and firms, thereby, enhancing social safety net and sound financial institutional framework tailored towards economic transformation of the country.”

Ikoh noted that the theme for the National Dialogue, ‘Achieving Nigeria’s Competitiveness and Improved Foreign Exchange Earnings through Science, Technology and Innovation,’ was apt and will support the monetary, fiscal, as well as trade policies of government for better and improved economy.

According to him, the theme of the event was basically on Presidential Order 005, which prohibits Nigerians from importing what they can produce.

Ikechukwu said: “We want to begin revised engineering, using Provider Digital Access (PRODA), which has been in the Southeast for some time now.

“We must produce machineries, which we can use to produce what we consume. Nigeria has capacity to do that.

“Our mandate, within this short time, is to produce what we can use and export the rest. That is the way to create wealth and guarantee that dollar, which is killing naira everyday, comes back to normal.”

“You will agree that if we are able to produce what we eat and export the rest, it will create jobs. It’s going to close the gap between the rich and poor; employment will be generated and people will be moved from poverty to prosperity.”
