In the Southern Senatorial District of Ondo state, lies the coastal Ayetoro community; a city known for its adoption of Communism as a way of life in the late 40s. The community, established by the Holy Apostles’ Church many decades ago prides itself as The Happy City, as shown right at its entrance, is now on the verge of extinction.

It is one of the prominent towns in Ilaje Local Government Area, whose inhabitants are predominantly fishermen and water transporters. One significant feature of Ayetoro is the age long headship of the community, which is in sharp contrast with the traditional structure of Yoruba towns whereby Obas are chosen through traditional means. In the case of this town, the spiritual head of the Holy Apostle Church doubles as both the church leader and the community head.

The community ruler is referred to as “The Ogeloyinbo of Ayetoro and His Spiritual Majesty of Holy Apostles’ Church, Ayetoro Worldwide”

With about 15 to 20 kilometres in land mass, the Happy City people are known for their hospitality and togetherness.

The community, years back, had a vibrant technical school, located at the entrance of the community, primary and secondary schools, a football field, good soil, beautiful plants and a large landmass, among others.

An area view of the town shows how well the streets were arranged, green plants, neatly constructed pathways and a glimpse of the city sends butterfly down one’s belly.

However, all the beauties, splendour as well as the happiness of this historical city are on the verge of extinction.

The cancer eating deep into the community is neither caused by war nor wildfire but by the sea.

According to the community leaders and some of the residents who spoke with The Hope, for about 20 years now, the city has been experiencing incursion from the Atlantic Ocean which flanks it by the East.

The sea incursion, according to them, usually occurs two to four times in a year during the raining season.

The last sea incident occurred midnight September 23 and 24, 2019.

The Hope visited the community to see the adverse effects of the sea incursion on the people as well as what is left of the community. Saheed Ibrahim details the situation of things in the community.

“Only prayer can help this country” – this is the sentence I hear from people around and prominent people in the country all the time. It has gone so deep-rooted into us that whenever something needs to be done, we simply say “God will do it”. I keep hearing this on daily basis and I keep waiting for the day all those prayers will be answered but it seems...

Hi Bidemi, since you've already made payment just fill up what's expected and upload the expected document.
NOTE: make sure the dates on the certificate march exactly what you entered on the form Include other relevant details like grades.
In my case it showed pass before I made the submission and I'll advise you follow suit. But if you get convinced that everything is ok then submit.

3. if paradang was questiowed last week n d process ended negatively, why did we do d interview last week?
4. not only NIS is recruiting..FAAN,NIGERIAN ARMY even NSCDC is promoting officers and recruitment comes up any moment from now.
5.I as a person has never read this news in any national newspaper duno about others.
6.what will b d fate of d pple given automatic employment letters oredi..waiting for us to join dem n go to camp togeda?
7.... where was d house of reps when d whole process started since february?
8. i strongly believe it will hold n b a suxex insha Allah..

The last may not have been heard of the controversial recruitment exercise of
the Nigerian Immigration Service, as the House of Representatives’
Committee on Federal Character moves to halt the recruitment.
This came on the heels of a meeting between the House of Representatives
panel and Comptroller General of Immigration, which ended in deadlock last
week at the National Assembly.
The bone of contention was the inability of the Comptroller General of
Immigration, Mr. David Shikfu Parradang, and his team to convince the
committee on how the service intends to ensure that salaries of the newly
recruited personnel would be paid, given the state of the economy and the
fact that there is no budgetary provision for it.
Also miffed by the inability of the Immigration Service, headed by its
comptroller general to convince the parliamentarians in concrete terms how
the service intends to offset the over N6 billion cumulative fee of the N1,000
collected by the service from applicants during the aborted exercise as well
as not first seeking approval of the Federal Character Committee of the
parliament, the chairman of the committee, Hon. Idris Ahmed, ordered the
immigration comptroller to return with answers to all the issues raised today
(Monday).
Committee members expressed dissatisfaction over what they regarded as
“impunity of the highest order and insincerity” on the part of the federal
government, for going ahead with the exercise without budgetary provisions
and clearance from the Federal Character Committee.
The chairman was particularly unhappy that the Immigration Service and the
Ministry of Interior could not refund the N6 billion realized from the sale of
forms to jobless Nigerians, yet it is going ahead with the exercise without
following the due process. “Things must be done in a transparent and fair
manner,” the chairman said.
The committee chairman, after due consultations with members, ordered the
immigration comptroller to come back today (Monday) and convince the
committee why the exercise should not be put on hold
