Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service Hard working Nigerians can’t be hungry, says Customs DG Ali said yesterday that only lazy Nigerians can be hungry. According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari had done so much for agriculture that farmers are now rich.
The government, he said, has provided the enabling environment for all.

Col. Ali (trd) made the remark when he led the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) on a visit to President Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

He said: “Mr. President, our economy has grown all because of the discipline you have instilled in the financial sector. All those nonchalant attitudes, all those days of siphoning money are no longer feasible.

“Mr. President today, I have to ration the rice, that is fiscal discipline.

“Mr. President, today we are seeing physically where people are rejecting foreign rice for local rice. Today Mr. President if you go to some of our houses, what you will see is local rice and that is wealth for our people.

“Last year, during the Hajj period when I went home, many farmers came to me that they have never had it so good, so much so that the first 25 people that paid up their money when Hajj fares were announced, were rice farmers. What more can we say in terms of growth of wealth?

“People say we are hungry, of course the lazy must be hungry because if you do not work hard, manna doesn’t fall from heaven. So, when people say we are hungry, there was never a time in Nigeria that food is dropped in the mouth of the people and there will never be.

“I can go on and on and enumerate what you have done in just three years of your administration but three is not enough to undo what was done in 16 years. The destruction, the monumental stealing that we have witnessed, the destruction of our structures and our system, it takes more than eight years to be able to address them and I believe in three years you have done wonderfully well.” he said

Including troops of 81 Division Nigerian Army, in conjunction with Department of State Security, Inspector General of Police Task Force Team, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, Federal Road Safety Corp and Lagos neighborhood Safety Corps swooped on suspected pipeline vandals at Magboro in Ogun State along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway on 16th May, 2018.

It was gathered that, during the hours of darkness, these vandals break open petroleum pipelines to steal refined Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) fill up hundreds of jerricans with the products and convey them to their marketing outlets in several, trucks, trailers, buses, cars and vans.

25-year-old Ogochukwu Namanene has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command, for raping a 22-year-old graduate and corps member serving at Janki Secondary school, Lapai.
The suspect from Lapai in Agaie Local Government Area of the state, who had been love advances to the victim before the incident, raped her while returning from Lagos to Lapai. He was however arrested by a team of policemen attached to the Agaie division of the state while trying to escape.

Namanene who claimed that he has “a soft spot” for the victim but did not know how to woo her, reportedly pretended to be a commercial motorcyclist, while taking the corps member to her lodge, dragged her into the bush, overpowered and sexually assaulted her.

The campaign organisation of the Ekiti State Deputy Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola has described President Buhari’s statement that the All Progressives Congress (APC) must win the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State as “wishful thinking.”

The party said, “Ekiti people will never allow their State to be added to the comity of States already infected with the plague of mis-governance by the President and his party.” The PDP candidate said it was appalling that a President, who should be apologizing to Ekiti people and the entire Nigerians for plunging the country into economic and security crises was the one talking about returning Ekiti into the fold of progressive states.

In a statement issued, on Thursday, KOCO Director of Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka said, “President Muhammadu Buhari should perish the thought of his anointed candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, wining the July 14 election and face the reality of his failed Presidency with a view to making amends before he is sent back to Daura next year.”

Olayinka challenged President Buhari to tell Nigerians what he has done for the State in the last three and half years, saying; “Even in Isan Ekiti, Fayemi’s hometown, nothing has happened to the Clay Kaolin that is there in large quantity despite that their son is in charge of solid minerals. Funny that the President said Ekiti must return to the fold of progressive states. Is he talking about the same so-called progressives States that are sacking workers in their thousands? Or the APC States where herdsmen are killing people in gruesome manner on daily basis is what he wants Ekiti State to join?

The Senate yesterday raised a 10-man panel to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the allegation that Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris is plotting to implicate Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Saraki made the allegation during the Semate Plenary yesterday following which he stepped down for his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, to preside over the discussion on the matter.

Ekweremadu noted that what Saraki said was some of the things wrong with the country’s democracy which should be halted.

He insisted that the Senate must work to protect the rights of every Nigerian, no matter the situation.

Ekweremadu said there should be a 10-man committee to engage President Muhammadu Buhari as soon as possible.

He said the committee should report back to the Senate within one week.

It was earlier reported that three police men were shot dead by suspected armed bandits along Yabo Local government area of Sokoto state.

The police officers were killed in a crossfire with suspected armed bandits in Yabo Local Government area along Sokoto-Jega express road when a Syrian national was kidnapped.

Other police officers were seen in a devastating state after seeing the corpses of their slain colleagues brought in a van.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, representing Lagos Central Senatorial District urged the Federal Government to declare public holidays for collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), ahead of the December 2018 deadline.
Oluremi, in a statement, said that the PVCs were the tools to participating in the forthcoming 2019 general elections. She also urged residents in the state to ensure that they collect their PVCs. The call sequel to revelations by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that over seven million PVCs were yet to be collected nationwide, with one million and four hundred thousand from Lagos State.

After the 2015 elections, about 12 million PVCs had remained in the electoral body’s custody. ”With previous elections, Nigerians developed voter apathy due to a distrust of the system. The 2015 elections taught us, however, that as individuals, our votes count. Thus, we must rise up as citizens to fulfill our civic responsibility and ensure accountability in governance,” she said. The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force nabbed a notorious traffic robber who pretended to be selling ‘Soft Drinks and pure water’ to motorists at Oshodi bridge.
SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force disclosed that the traffic robber was apprehended by officers of the Agency who were positioned at Oshodi bridge to check criminal activities of these traffic robbers.

He stated that the traffic robber was arrested after he had broken a driver’s side screen of a Toyota Corolla car with hammer and snatched 2 phones and a bag containing valuables.

The evening’s events have been somehow surreal to some Housemates, who believe that there’s probably a pair that’s being hidden somewhere whom Big Brother will probably ask to return after a few days.

However, that’s not the case. Prito and Van-Dee are no longer part of the Big Brother show as their journey ended last night after receiving the least number of votes.

As calm as some Housemates were after the Live show, it was clear that the reality in the House was taking a little bit longer to sink in. They tried discussing the possibilities and eventualities of what happened but still it only came to them agreeing that anything is possible in the Big Brother House.

BamBam and Alex were visibly the most devastated by the pairs’ departure as they couldn’t hold back their tears. For Cee-C though, it was a different story. Her playful and jolly character came to life; a rare sight that only Tobi has been exposed to.

She and Tobi continued discussing the Evictions and how things have been done in previous Big Brother shows.....
