THEME: BEAR FRUITS FOR CHRIST II

MEMORISE: Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16

READ: John 15:1-16
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

MESSAGE
Today's memory verse reveals that God saved your soul primarily so that He can save others through you. You are a co-laborer with Christ in the vast field of the earth. Sadly, many people want God to enlarge them, but they are not expanding His kingdom.
While it is good to pray for God to enlarge you, one area that must be enlarged in your life is your capacity to win souls and bear fruit. God indeed wants to enlarge you; however, it is not just for your enjoyment but so that you can reach more people for Him. I will discuss more on the need to ask God to enlarge your coast tomorrow.

There are numerous benefits of soul winning. One of them is that your prayers will not be hindered. When you bear fruit and your fruit abides, you can ask anything in Jesus' name, and the Father will respond speedily to your request. In today's memory verse, Jesus said that when you bring forth fruit, and it remains, whatever you ask the Father in His name will be given to you. Soul winners have a blank cheque from God; whenever they go before Him to ask for the things they desire, they can go with so much confidence because He will not deny their requests.

There was once a soldier who had suffered a bullet wound that had broken the bones of one of his legs. The doctors had to fix a piece of iron in the broken leg to help him walk with it. The injury and the iron made walking painful and difficult for him. However, despite the pain, he usually set aside a day of the week to go out and evangelize. On one of those days, he was out from morning until evening, preaching the gospel. When he returned home, the pain in his leg became unbearable. He turned to God and said, "Lord, I wish this pain would go away so that I can serve you better." Thereafter, he fell asleep. When he awoke, the piece of iron inside his broken leg was lying on the bed beside him, yet there was no drop of blood on the bed. While he slept, God performed a divine operation on his leg and restored it completely!

Beloved, do you desire instant and consistent answers to your prayers? Make evangelism your lifestyle; be addicted to winning souls for Jesus, and He will beautify your life with many wonderful testimonies.

ACTION POINT
Commit to making evangelism your lifestyle.

HYMN 4: TO THE WORK, TO THE WORK
1 To the work! to the work! we are servants of God,
Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;
With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew,
Let us do with our might what our hands find to do.

Refrain:
Toiling on, toiling on,
Toiling on, toiling on:
Let us hope, let us watch,
And labor till the Master comes.

2 To the work! to the work! let the hungry be fed;
To the fountain of life let the weary be led;
In the cross and its banner our glory shall be,
While we herald the tidings, "Salvation is free!"

3 To the work! to the work! there is labor for all;
For the kingdom of darkness and error shall fall;
And the name of Jehovah exalted shall be,
In the loud-swelling chorus, "Salvation is free!"

4 To the work! to the work! in the strength of the Lord,
And a robe and a crown shall our labor reward;
When the home of the faithful our dwelling shall be,
And we shout with the ransomed, "Salvation is free!"

THEME: BEAR FRUITS FOR CHRIST

MEMORISE: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15

READ: John 15:14-16
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

MESSAGE
In today's Bible reading, Jesus said that He appointed His disciples to bear fruit and that their fruit should remain. The word fruit here means souls. Jesus has made it clear that only those who obey His commands are His friends, and whatever they ask of His Father in His name, He will give them. Those who are closest to me are soul winners because I know soul winning is paramount in the heart of God. I am determined to keep winning souls until I die. Even if there are no opportunities, I will create them so I can tell others about Jesus.

Someone once said that it wasn't recorded that Jesus celebrated His birthdays and then criticized me for celebrating my birthday. I appreciated him and told him that God uses my birthday celebrations to win more souls into His kingdom. God has chosen us to bear fruits that abide in His kingdom; we must use every avenue we have to pursue this.

It is sad that many people don't take evangelism seriously. Jesus commanded us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, as we see in today's memory verse. He didn't ask us to go only where we are accepted or where things are easy; He asked us to go into all the world, whether things are rosy or not. When God gives us an assignment to go, we must go.
In Acts 16:6-40, Paul had a vision where he saw a man beckoning him to come to Macedonia to help them. Before this time, He had made some attempts to preach the gospel in some cities in Asia, but the Holy Spirit forbade him. One would think that because God asked him to go to Macedonia, there would be no opposition or trouble. However, shortly after Paul and Silas got there, they were beaten and imprisoned. Yet, this didn't stop them from preaching the gospel. People who are not ready to face hardships will not go far in obeying Jesus' commandment to go into all the world to preach the gospel.

Beloved, sometimes, as you preach the gospel, people will reject or mock you. However, be of good cheer whenever that happens. Jesus said that anyone who suffers persecution for His sake will have a bountiful reward (Matthew 5:11-12). Keep preaching the gospel at all times, whether it is convenient or not, and you will continue to shine as a star forever (Daniel 12:3).

ACTION POINT
Commit to preaching the gospel at every opportunity you have.

HYMN 12: ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See his banners go!

[Chorus]
Onward, Christian soldiers! Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.

2. At the sign of triumph
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory.
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise.

3. Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the Saints have trod.
We are not divided;
All one body we:
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.

4. Onward, then, ye people;
Join our happy throng.
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song:
Glory, laud, and honor
Unto Christ, the King.
This through countless ages
Men and angels sing.

MEMORISE: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:2

READ: Acts 5:5-8
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

MESSAGE
I have always taken evangelism very seriously. As younger Christians, my mates and I were always looking for opportunities to tell people about Jesus Christ. Some of us bought megaphones, and we went about proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ at every opportunity we had. I recall a time when we went to preach in a town named Ganma in Kwara State. The town was so notorious for being hostile to preachers that there was no church there, and nobody dared to preach the gospel there. When I heard about the town, I said, "Really? I must go there to preach!" The people who told me about the town said, "If you go there, they will stone you." I told them that I had been looking for an opportunity to be stoned so that I could tell Apostle Paul that I also suffered for Jesus when I meet him in heaven. I told some people in our church that I would go to Ganma to preach regardless of the cost, and some of them said they would go with me.

When we got to Ganma, the people there told us that they didn't want our Jesus. We replied that we weren't leaving, so we went from house to house, preaching the gospel. The townspeople reported us to their chief, and he sent for us. When we got there, we told him that we had come with good news for the people. We assured him that we were not saying anything against their religion and that we were law-abiding people. He said we could continue, so we left and continued preaching.

The townspeople went to report us to the chief a second time, and again, he sent for us. We reassured him that we were not causing any trouble. At this point, some of the people with me began to get uncomfortable and said that we should leave before nightfall. However, we were yet to host a film show as we had planned. I told them that we were not leaving until we were through with everything we wanted to do. We hosted the film show, and many of those people who didn't want to receive Jesus earlier and reported us to the chief came and eventually surrendered to Christ. Today, there is a provincial headquarters of The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ganma.

Beloved, to be a part of God's end-time army, you must be ready to tell others about Jesus, regardless of where the Lord sends you.

ACTION POINT
Don't only preach when it is convenient; preach when it isn't too.

MEMORISE: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

READ: Luke 18:18-25
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

MESSAGE
Years ago, somewhere in Western Nigeria, there was a man who had become wealthy through evil means. However, God showed Him mercy by sending a preacher to tell him the Good News. The preacher told him that Jesus had paid for all his sins, regardless of how terrible they were, but the man refused the offer of salvation. He told the preacher, Thank you; I've heard everything you said. My children can follow Jesus. As for me, it's too late." The preacher replied, "As long as you are still breathing, it's not too late." He, however, refused to be convinced, saying that he had spent most of his life with the devil and would like to end it with him. Unfortunately, he died a few weeks later, and in death, it is too late to repent. God offered him mercy, but he rejected it. If you are yet to surrender your life to Jesus, God is offering you mercy today; please do not refuse it.

In today's Bible reading, a rich young ruler came to Jesus because he knew that something was missing in his life. Apart from being rich, he also had a prominent position in society, yet he felt dissatisfied with his life. He wanted eternal life, so he came to Jesus with a simple but profound question, "What can I do to inherit eternal life?" (Luke 18:18). When Jesus told him that it was not enough to keep God's commandments and that he needed to let go of the idol in his life by selling all he had to follow Him, the man returned home sorrowful. Divine mercy was offered to him, but he refused to accept it because his riches mattered more to him than eternal life.

God's mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22- 23), but He will never force anyone to accept it; it is a choice that everyone must make for themselves.
Unfortunately, some people say that they will repent later. This is a dangerous position to take because no one knows the exact time Jesus will return (Luke 12:40), and as we see in Luke 12:20, God can demand their souls at any time.

Beloved, if you are still living in sin, I invite you today to call upon God while He can still be found; don't wait until it is impossible to do so (Isaiah 55:6). No matter how terrible your past has been, He is telling you today that He will wash them away and make you whiter than snow (Isaiah 1:18). Let Jesus into your heart today (Revelation 3:20) before it is too late.

KEY POINT
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, don't wait until it is too late. Accept His mercy today.

THEME: OPEN UP TO HIM

MEMORISE: (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 2 Corinthians 6:2

READ: Revelation 3:20-22
20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

MESSAGE
James 4:7 says clearly that you should submit yourself unto God, then resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The devil cannot flee from you if you have not submitted totally to God. If you are not yet born again, Jesus Christ, the Light, wants to come into your life. He wants to give you a brand-new beginning, but He will not force Himself into your heart unless you open the door to Him voluntarily. He said in today's Bible reading that He is knocking on the door of your heart, and if you open up to Him, He will come in. If He keeps knocking on a person's heart and the person keeps refusing to open, a day will come when it will be too late for the person to open his or her heart to Him again. On that day, the person's heart will stop beating, and if Jesus is not already in it by then, no matter how much the person pleads, such a person will find himself or herself in hell, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is why I am appealing to you to open up your heart to Him now if you haven't done so yet.

Many people claim to have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, but they haven't truly submitted to Him as certain aspects of their lives are still ordered by their flesh.
Many of such people go to church, while some are even church workers and ministers, but they are really not different from people in the world. When a person truly submits to the Lordship of Jesus, He becomes the supreme authority over such a fellow's life. Whatever He says is what the fellow must do.

Jesus is the Light, and He is the only one who can drive darkness out of a person's life. Darkness is sure to reign supreme in the lives of those who haven't opened up their hearts to Jesus, even if they claim to be Christians. When darkness reigns in a person's life, failure, defeat, sorrow, retrogression, and every evil thing will fill such a fellow's life. Can you truly say that Jesus, the Light, is in total control of your life?

Beloved, if you are yet to truly submit to Jesus Christ, He is knocking at the door of your heart. Open your heart to Him today, and He will give you a glorious hope for the future (1 Peter 1:3-5).

REFLECTION
Have you truly opened up to Jesus Christ, and is He in total control of your life?

THEME: MAINTAIN YOUR FREEDOM II

MEMORISE: He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20

READ: 2 Corinthians 3:16-18
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

MESSAGE
The devil is a thief, so when he visits a person or family, his agenda is to steal, kill, and destroy.

Unlike the devil, Jesus has come so that you can enjoy abundant life (John 10:10). Today, I want to share some more ways a person who has been delivered from the devil's bondage can maintain his or her freedom and truly enjoy the abundant life that Jesus gives.

It is sad when someone who has been delivered by the mighty hand of God loses his or her liberty because of ignorance, carelessness, or foolishness. People perish when there is no knowledge (Hosea 4:6). They lose what they have received when they don't apply the divine principles that are required to sustain it. The Son sets free, and whoever the Son makes free is free indeed John 8:36). God doesn't give temporary deliverance; He gives total freedom, but a fellow who has been set free must learn how to walk on the road of freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17 says that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Wherever the devil may be operating in, when the Spirit of the Lord comes on the scene, freedom comes. To sustain your freedom, however, you must allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in all you do. Let Him be Lord of your thoughts, words, and actions.
Where He is Lord, no demon can thrive. Knowing the truth is another way to maintain your liberty. John 8:32 says that you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Do you know the truth about Jesus' payment for your freedom? Are you walking in this truth? To keep walking in freedom, you must know the truth in God's word and immerse yourself in it so that it fills your heart. His word is the truth, and when you know the truth, it will make you free. This word must become your daily bread. Joshua 1:8 reveals that a major key to having good success in life is meditating on God's word day and night. To keep the devil perpetually out of your life, let God's word dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:1 6). Job spoke about how highly he esteemed the word of God in Job 23:12. Beloved, how important is God's word to you? How highly do you esteem God's instructions and directions? If you want to sustain the liberty you have received from God, you must allow Jesus Christ to be your Lord and place topmost priority on God's word.

KEY POINT
To maintain your freedom, you must know the truth, surrender to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and meditate on God's word constantly.

MEMORISE: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:11

READ: John 5:5-14
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

MESSAGE
When God proclaims deliverance, He is saying to the taskmaster, the devil, "Let your slaves go, and if you don't, VIl deal with you." The devil has no choice but to obey immediately. If you have suffered any form of satanic attack, whether oppression, repression, vexation, obsession, or possession, I decree that this is your season of total freedom. In the name above all other names, begin to walk in freedom.

Today, I want to discuss some ways a fellow can remain delivered from the devil's attacks and continue to walk in freedom. Although deliverance from satanic bondage doesn't require any monetary payment, it comes at a cost.

The first price a fellow must pay to walk in freedom is total surrender to Jesus. Despite the long time he had spent in insanity, the madman of Gadara surrendered to Jesus. He longed for freedom, and the day he saw the One who could set him free, he ran forward, surrendered himself, and received his healing (Mark 5:1-20). Likewise, you must surrender completely to Jesus if you want to continue walking in liberty. You cannot remain in the devil's camp and expect to be free from bondage; you cannot give in to his temptations and expect him to stay away from you.
People who toy with sin attract demons, and demons come with different kinds of bondage. I discussed five of them over the past few days.

In today's Bible reading, Jesus healed a man who had an infirmity for 38 years. The devil and his forces were behind this long-lasting ailment, and the man suffered because of their activities. After Jesus healed him, we discovered what gave the devil room to afflict the man: sin. After he was healed, Jesus told him to sin no more, else a worse sickness will come into his life (John 5:14).

When someone who is delivered from demonic possession returns to the sin that gave the devil room to possess him or her in the first place, the fellow will end up worse than before (Luke 11:24-26). If a person becomes possessed by a demon of sexual perversion through watching pornography and God delivers him or her, that person must never return to watching it. If eating too much opened the door to the demon of gluttony into a fellow's life, that fellow must shut that door once he or she is delivered in order to maintain his or her freedom.

Beloved, Jesus has paid the price for your deliverance, but it is your responsibility to maintain your freedom.

ACTION POINT
If you have any habit or secret sin that can open you up to the enemy's attacks, ask God to deliver you and seek counsel from a genuine minister of God.
