Below is Full Text of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2017 Independence Broadcast October 1st remains a special date for all Nigerians as this marks the day when we attained one of the most precious of human desires — freedom. Over the years the country has gone through trials and tribulations, but October 1st is always a day for celebrations. It is a day for thanks giving, reflection and re-dedication. It is also a day for remembrance. We should remind ourselves of the recent journey from 1999 – 2015, when our country happily returned to democratic rule. However, in spite of oil prices being an average of $100 per barrel and about 2.1m barrels a day, that great piece of luck was squandered and the country’s social and physical infrastructure neglected. We were left with no savings and huge infrastructure deficit. The APC Government’s Campaign rallying cry to restore security, re-balance the economy and fight corruption was not all rhetoric. TWO operatives of the Abraka vigilante group have been arrested by men of the Abraka Police Division in connection with last Saturday’s robbery and suspected murder of one Alhaji Mohammed Basa at Orioka, Abraka. The Police are also on the trail of three other members of the group, who fled following the arrest of their colleagues. The victim, Basa, 55, an indigene of Nasarawa State, was said to have been travelling to Benin, the Edo State capital, from Kwale, Delta State, in company of his son, Mohammed Dio, when they were allegedly ambushed by the vigilante group, who took away their motorcycle, N10,000 and three mobile phones. Giving the names of the suspects as Michael and Umufo, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, said the matter was reported at the Abraka Police Station by Mohammad Dio, who escaped after suffering multiple cuts on his body. The Police boss, in a statement, said according to reports by Dio, the suspects and three others, who are at large, ambushed them, tied them up, dragged them to an uncompleted building, where they were stabbed several times, but he (son) escaped and alerted the Police. Mr. Zanna also explained that the scene of the incident has been visited by a patrol team from the division, but the victim (Basa) was not found, hence a search for him or his remains has been launched. Nigerian Lawyer representing Psquare,, Festus Keyamo has reacted to the viral fight video between the Psquare brothers, reported to have allegedly happened in his office. Here’s his statement below:- Our attention has been drawn to the on-going feud between thePsquare brothers in online, print and electronic media. We have also been inundated with calls from the media to authenticate the correspondence Peter Okoye sent to our office, indicating his intention to terminate the contract between the brothers for various reasons and the online video showing a purported scuffle between the brothers in our Chambers. Firstly, while it is obvious that none of these materials were released from our Chambers, we are thoroughly saddened and embarrassed by these developments. As their close friends and lawyers over many years, we have done our very best to manage their differences over time and very prominent personalities have been invited in the past to intervene. We are well aware that we have a duty to keep the details of their disagreements confidential, so we shall say nothing here on the issues at stake. But since the disagreement is now in the public domain, and our name has been dragged into the fray, we wish to appeal to members of the public to refrain from jumping into uninformed conclusions about this feud. Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, who has for the past month fervently taken to social media to be very vocal about God’s words, has shared a new message with her fans as she and her son stepped out rocking matching outfits.. The actress, who urged her fans to always trust in Jesus in all situation, as He is God’s word.. She wrote; *Good morning beautiful People of God(ROR) SPEAK TO THE STORM•• _*And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39).*_ God doesn’t want you to go through life as though you’re helpless and handicapped. Rather, He wants you to take charge and do something with your life, and about your situation. You should make things happen in your life. You might be crying, “Lord, don’t you see my situation? Do something!” No, you’re the one to do something, because He’s given you the power. Act like Jesus. She continued; He calmed the storms with words. He said to the raging tempest, “Peace, be still” and there was a great calm. Perhaps for some reason, you find yourself agitated and fearful about a situation, what you should do is simple: Put your right hand on your chest and say, “Calm down in the Name of Jesus,” and His peace will overwhelm your soul. The disciples were sore afraid when the winds became boisterous, and the water was getting into the boat. They came to Jesus and said, “Master, don’t you care that we perish?” Source: http://gbedujamzng.com.ng/entertainment/tonto-dikeh-steps-rocking-matching-outfit-son-says-trust-jesus/ https://i0.wp.com/gbedujamzng.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/6011149_2198484421472249053030835395871820324798464n_jpegd4b989e519e91a5a083a36dde0206e18.jpg |
Some prison inmates have gotten themselves into more trouble than they saw coming after they broke out of jail to steal and then sneaked back inside. Four prison inmates reportedly broke out of the Holmes-Humphreys County Correctional Facility, broke into a business, and then returned to jail. According to New York Post, the group of Mississippi inmates busted out of jail this week, burglarized a bargain store — and then broke back in and returned to their cells. The jailbirds, identified as Levontaye Ellington, Travis Baker, Maurice Robertson and Jacquiez Williams broke out of the Holmes-Humphreys County Correctional Facility in Lexington Tuesdayby hopping a fence, Mississippi News Now reported. Once in the clear, the men walked less than a mile to a Dollar General chain store after closing and swiped anything they could grab. “They stole cigarettes, cigarette lighters, phones and just items they felt they could sell in jail,” Lexington Police Chief Robert Kirklin said according to the report. But rather than extend their newfound freedom, the foursome inexplicably snuck back into the jail, undetected, baffling police. “You’re already in jail, but you want to break out and break back in?” the chief said. “That is just something. I heard it all.” The inmates denied their involvement in the scheme, even though they were caught on store surveillance footage, according to the report. “Just looking at the type of clothing they had on and just one of the bags they had put some of the merchandise in,”police were able to pin the inmates to the crime, Kirklin said. Banking in Nigeria comes with a lot of problems for many. There are several complaints of unprofessionalism and other ills. However, one of the major problems customers complain about are hidden bank charges. In January 2016, it was announced that in a bid to generate revenue for deposit money banks, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced a maintenance fee on current account transactions. This was revealed in a circular signed by Kevin Amugo, director, financial policy and regulation department of the CBN, dated January 20, 2016 and addressed to the commercial banks. What are some bank charges you did not know about and what do they mean? 1. Maintenance Fee The maintenance fee means that for every N100,000 leaving a current account in Nigeria, deposit money banks are permitted to take N100 for account maintenance. 2. Processing Fee The processing fee is the fee banks charge for transactions across countries. For example If someone who lives in the US has just sent you $200 through your bank and the bank exchange rate is N319 to $1, they will subtract a $2 processing fee from the dollar amount. 3. ATM withdrawal charges When you use an ATM that does not belong to your bank, there is usually a N65 charge after the first transaction in the month and subsequent other transactions you carry out. 4. ATM card maintenance fee This is peculiar to some banks, but it has been revealed that some of them charge for ATM card maintenance on an annually basis.
