Here is a list of 5 things you never knew about the global pandemic. 1. Corona Virus was already existing before 2019: Coronavirus disease was first described in 1931, with the first coronavirus (HCoV-229E) isolated from humans in 1965. Until the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome in late 2002, only two human coronaviruses (HCoV) were known – HCoV-229E and HCoV-OC43. 2. The virus cannot harm you until it gets into your body: This is a general characteristic of viruses as they usually are seemingly lifeless until they get into your system. Once they do, it becomes difficult to deal with. 3. Patients who recover may still catch the disesase: There is no proof yet that patients who recover develop immunity, as a recent report showed that a woman from Korea who tested negative, still contracted the disease (The sunday times). 4. Vaccines may not be developed anytime soon: Ebola Virus vaccine was developed in 5 years, which is one of the fastest developed vaccines. However, efforts are being made to develop a vaccine between 12- 18 months. Prevention is the best method now. 5. The Virus itself does not kill: Although the presence of the virus in the body causes pneumonia and general weakness, what leads to the death of the victim is the immune system's action. The immune system tries to fight the virus in the bronchioles. The clash between the two rivals, results in the production of a fluid which blocks the respiratory tract, leading to inability to breath. This is why ventilators are used to keep the patient alive. Without ventilators, survival would be very difficult. STAY SAFE!!!

Countries all over the world are facing this dangerous pandemic "corona virus" here are five groups of people I have spoted so far in Nigeria. You are free to add yours. 1. The Jokers Despite the death toll rising to 1000+ in countries like US and Italy and 81 confirmed cases so far in Nigeria they are people that are having fun and making a whole joke of the virus. Some have Called it "corobaby". And we cannot forget the popular comment at the onset " Final year student (last card), ASUU( pick 2), corona virus( general market). Here are the top four most funny or "awkward" comments so far. 1. " How to prevent corona virus- wear your nose mask and hand gloves when watching chinese movies" 2. " chew water very well before you swallow, chewing will crush every virus before you swallow". 3. "This virus is a big man disease, it started greeting the elders first" 4." This corona virus no be real, nothing like corona dey nigeria" (a man interviewed on channels) I dont know which one is more stupid by the way, pick one. 2. The thieves Even with all the trouble the virus is causing, some people are still stealing and some are about to steal. many people are donating generously but just be patient and watch not up to 10% of this money will be used. our senators will use it to quarantine themselves. Dangote-1 billon Atiku- 50 million 2face 10million Abdusalami rabiu 1billon Femi otedola 1billion tony olumelu-1 billion herbert wigwe- 1billion michael chinedu 42 million access-1 bilion, gtb-1 billion, UBA- 5 billion NNPC- 11BILLIONetc. Atiku also made an appeal that money should be distributed to all nigerians to enable them survive the lock down. wait and see if you will get a penny. 3. The philantropists No need to dwell on this one many people are donating and doing their own quota. some are even volunteering to risk their lives. e.g pastor paul enenche and wife (haters can talk o) 4. The nuclear weapons Even in this time a lot of bomb-blasts are being distributed by many. the top one is from our president- He described COVID-19 as COVIK-1-9. god bless Nigeria. The second is the young student who described the pandemic as "COLODIAL DRY BUS". And then our Tiv brothers from benue are killing it all " Cororra vilus or Collolal vilus". hmm god have mercy 5. The media and the audience The media is trying a lot. one group we must commend is channels TV. Well, the audience comprises of the anxious, the ignorant, the confused and the ones who do not want school to resume. One group not listed which is important are the intercessors. Like in Goshen where the peace affected every occupant, including Egyptians who migrated there, these peoples prayers will cause a change and even people who are partying now will enjoy. I rest my case- The last group is me and my nairalanders who cannot keep quiet. |
