Figure 2 is the only one that is not odd by any of the rules.

Note that you are making a category error when you compare large red squares alone. You are to compare on the basis of rules that apply to all the figures at once.

Look beyond the size.
We have 4 square, and 1 round shape in that picture, the round is already separated from others. Now let's work on the 4 square shapes...
The 4 squares are different in size, so what makes one unique from another??

Shape 1 shares features with all of them (it is red, it is a square, it has a black border) but lacks any single rule-breaking trait of its own. Being completely "ordinary" makes it the true odd one out.
