My advice based on, I used myself as example. At that age, he has so many things on his mind than starting studying such thing.
I studied mechanical engineering in nigeria. I started studying programing related degree abroad at that age. I even did masters in that field. But my mind was tired. I was too old for such.

My point is that he should do something much easier.
