In 1998, Don Collins (pictured left), then just thirteen years old doused 8 year old Robbie Middleton (pictured right) with gasoline and lit him on fire. Prosecutors said yesterday Feb. 9th that Collins carried out the horrific attack, which happened on Robbie's 8th birthday - to stop him from reporting sexual abuse. Robbie suffered burns over 99% of his body.

Collins wasn't arrested immediately even though Robbie had identified him as his attacker. There wasn't much evidence against him, and especially because of his age. Robbie endured over 150 surgeries before finally succumbing to skin cancer after a life of agony. But before he died in 2011, he told the police that Collins had raped him two weeks before the attack.

Don Collins, now 29, was convicted of murder yesterday Monday. 9th, more than 16 years after the incident. He was charged as an adult for the crime.

The victim’s mother, who testified during the trial, rejoiced following the verdict.

Nigerien army has repelled the attack by Nigeria terrorist group [Boko Haram] on a prison over the border with Nigeria overnight.
According to the AFP, the raid was the third on the Niger border town of Diffa in four days and comes as Niger parliament is due to vote on whether to join a regional offensive against the insurgents.

The source, one of around 3,000 Niger soldiers sent to the unstable border area, told journalists: “The attack was repelled. Clean-up operations have been under way since this morning.”

It was a sad Christmas day celebration for the
Ofomata family residing at Umuele Umudim,
Nnewi, Anambra State as a fire outbreak at their
three-bedroom apartment roasted four of their
children- Chioma Ofomata, 6, Goodness& Mercy
Ofomata who were twins, 3, and Ifeoma, 2, to
death.
According to reports, the mother of the 4 girls had
locked her children in the house and had gone
over to the community center to collect her share
of Christmas rice meant for widows in the
community when the fire started.
Residents in the area were not quick to notice the
fire or hear the cry for help from the children until
they started seeing thick smoke coming from
their apartment. By the time the door to their
house was broken down, only the charred
remains of the four girls were found.
Their father, 57 year old Mr Ofoamata, a
vulcanizer, said he was at his shop with his two
sons, Kosy, 8, and Ebuka, 5 when the incident
happened. He said he got to know of the
unfortunate incident when edhe returned home at
about 6pm and saw people gather at his
compound with smoke coming from his
apartment. He said his wife never told him she
was going out to collect any rice.
While giving her account of what happened, mrs
Ofomata said she locked her children in their
apartment so as to restrict their movement and
that the day of the incident wasn't the first time
she would lock them in. She denied claims that
the rice she went to collect was actually meant for
widows
“The rice was meant for everybody, not widows
alone. If you like go and find out. I don’t know
what caused the fire,” she said
The remains of the little children have been
deposited at the mortuary.

Presidential candidate of the APC, Muhammadu
Buhari was in Lagos today to meet with a small
group of his most passionate volunteers – and
after an engaging evening of ideas, vision, and
intense engagement on the future of the country.
The event had in attendance his key supporters
including Governor Babatunde Fashola, Nasir el-
Rufai, Director General of the campaign, Governor
Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Olorunnimbe

Justice Kudirat Jose of a Lagos High Court,
has convicted and sentenced Promise Ntuen
Ekemini to one year imprisonment, for
hijacking the e-mail of a lawful owner of a
property, located in Western Australia valued
at $800,000 and attempting to sell the
property.
He was arraigned in April, 2014 on a 5-
count charge bordering on conspiracy to
defraud, attempt to obtain money by false
pretences and forgery. Justice Jose found
him guilty of all the charges and convicted
him. His sentence will from the day of his
arraignment.
Ekemini got into trouble by impersonating Brian
Roderick Daniel, owner of a property located at
No. 143, Sprinaway Parade, Falcon, Western
Australia and offering his property to buyers on
the internet without the consent of the owner. The
Australian Police alerted the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to monitor a
controlled delivery of some documents related to
the transactions to Ekemini. He was arrested at
the point of collection of the documents.

The Chief of Air Staff of the Nigerian Air Force
(NAF) Air Marshall Olusola Amosu urged the
personnel to prepare for long war against Boko
Haram insurgents.
