Like most other countries of the world, Nigerians go all out with Christmas decorations. Originally, Nigerians expect only “father Christmas” to visit them on Christmas day with gifts and goodie bags. The idea of Santa only started creeping into the country in recent time from American media and citizens who have migrated into the country. Now, offices have ‘Secret Santa’ events where people exchange gifts, write Santa lists and families take their children dressed in new outfits to see Santa Claus. The good thing is that both concepts are the same, except for the mix up with names.

Less than two weeks ago, Nokia announced its already-known intention to return to the mobile device market. Now backed by HMD Global Oy, ‎Android-Powered Nokia mobile devices starting with smartphones, are expected to hit the market by the first quarter of 2017 (Q1 2017).





HMD Global’s 10-year brand licensing agreement with Nokia, signed less than a year ago, gives it exclusive right to use the Nokia brand on mobile phones and tablets worldwide. Nokia made its last smartphone back in 2014, before selling off its mobile division to Microsoft, which prioritised the Windows Phone OS based Lumia brand.

Finnish company, HMD plans to launch a new generation of phones running Google’s Android mobile operating system to sell alongside the existing Nokia ‎feature phones. It has ‎enlisted the help of ‎FIH Mobile Limited (a subsidiary of Foxconn), to handle all manufacturing duties.

According to reports, the Nokia D1C and P1 are the first set of smartphones to go official, possibly at the MWC 2017. The Snapdragon 430 SoC backed D1C will reportedly arrive with Android 7.0 Nougat OS,   in two models – a 2GB RAM version set to cost the equivalent of $150 and a higher 3GB RAM version set to cost $200.
