Actor Paul Walker, who shot to fame as star of the high-octane street racing franchise "Fast & Furious," died in a fiery car crash in Southern California on Saturday. He was 40.
Walker was in the passenger seat of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, driven by a racing team partner, that slammed into a light pole and burst into flames in an office park in the community of Valencia in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles north of Hollywood.

Walker's publicist Ame van Iden confirmed his death Saturday. The driver, identified by CNN affiliate KCAL-TV as Roger Rodus, also died.

Nigerian International Peter Odemwingie, and other premiership players have lost thousands of pounds to a British woman who claimed to be their lifestyle coach. 38-year-old Claire Duke, defrauded high-profile clients, which include Cardiff City FC striker Peter Odemwingie – out of more than £70,000 over a one year period.
Duke received money for holidays and flights from clients but kept the money for herself.

Duke appeared at Cannock Magistrates’ Court in Staffordshire last Wednesday charged with five counts of fraud and one of theft.

Luck ran against some desperate Nigerians who were seeking to leave the country by all means.

Five persons have been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos, for their alleged participation in a visa scam.
The suspects, Micheal Raji, Johnson Adegoke, Oladimeji Popoola, John Osaghae and Smart Imafidon, were arrested by SFU operatives following petitions by the United States Consulate, Lagos, and the British Deputy High Commission.

Raji, a 32-year-old Higher National Diploma holder was said to have presented a Nigerian passport containing a forged UK visa during a US non-immigrant visa interview.

Former Nigerian three-term president, Olusegun Obasanjo was booed on an Emirates flight 783 from Dubai to Lagos on 14 November 2013.
Obasanjo was returning from a business trip in Dubai when his countrymen gave him an unfriendly welcome on the flight with boos and invective.

The Nigerians had been waiting on the cue to board when they were asked to make way for the First Class premium passenger. Eager to board “sharp sharp” (hurriedly) the Nigerian way, the Economy class passengers protested that after Obasanjo took them hostage for over 10 years as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, they were not so ready to step aside to make way for him, to control them from the “passenger seat”.

Two cats are each enjoying their nine lives in the lap of luxury, thanks to their deceased owner, who left his entire estate to his fluffy friends.

Leon Sheppard, a retired businessman and Memphis, Tennessee, native who died in 2012, has five children, 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren however, in his will, he left his $250,000 fortune and 4,270-square-foot home in a gated community to his two cats, Frisco and Jake.
According to Memphis TV statio WMC -TV, the cats are to live in the Sheppard home in a way that maintains their standard of living, and the $250,000 will be used for their care as well as the maintenance of the house.

After Frisco dies (his age isn't known, but according to WMC-TV, he's "old", the remainder of the money will be divided among Sheppard's relatives, with the understanding that Jake will be cared for.

In a White House ceremony, President Barack Obama posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the same-sex partners of NASA astronaut Sally Ride and human rights activist Bayard Rustin.

The honor, the highest for US civilians, was started 50 years ago by President John Kennedy.
'This medal has been bestowed on more than 500 deserving people,' Obama said at the 20 November ceremony.

'Tonight, I’m looking forward to joining some of these honorees, as well as members of the Kennedy family, as we pay tribute to these 50 years of excellence. And this morning, we’re honored to add 16 new names to this distinguished list,' he added.

Just when you thought Chris Brown was out...a judge is sending him back in.

Agreeing with the recommendation of the probation department, L.A. Superior Court Judge James Brandlin ordered the singer to spend another three months in a residential treatment facility, submit to drug testing and take medication as prescribed by his doctor.
Brown is also required to complete 24 hours of community service a week during the course of his time in rehab.

His latest round of pennance still stems from his 2009 assault conviction for beating up Rihanna. He was sentenced to five years' probation at the time and has been in and out of court over the past year while authorities investigated various possible violations. At least 50 ex-staff of non-consolidated banks in the country have reportedly lost their lives following the alleged failure of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC); the Finance Ministry among others to facilitate payment of their terminal benefits 10 years after their disengagement.

Tragedy struck in the Oshodi area of Lagos State on Tuesday after a truck belonging to the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Church lost control, killing and injuring many people.

Many eyewitnesses at the scene gave conflicting reports of the number of people killed and wounded in the accident.
The number of the dead ranged between 12 and 20. But police authority confirmed that only six people died, while five people were wounded.

“A passenger bus and a mini-truck laden with margarine, both on top speed, were driving by when the Indomie truck swerved in their direction. In a bid to avoid the truck, the bus swerved and in turn ran into the mini truck and then fell on the divider.

“The Indomie truck sped off. The margarine truck caught fire and it spread unto the passenger truck.”

Although the three occupants of the mini-truck came out alive, they sustained severe burn, while passengers of the bus were unlucky and could not escape.

The inflammable nature of margarine was said to have fueled the fire which continued to intensify leaving the passengers to their fate as sympathisers took to their heels.

There was drama at the Palmgrove Bus Stop, Ikorodu Road, Lagos State, on Monday when a commercial bus driver stripped naked to avoid being arrested by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
The LASTMA officials had blocked five different commercial buses for indiscriminately taking passengers by the side of the road.
Passengers in the four vehicles were asked to alight, as officials of the traffic agency took over the wheels of the impounded vehicles.

Kolawole Fakokunde, a Nigerian national, is facing up to five years’ imprisonment after he was arrested by immigration officers at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York for trying to enter the U.S illegally.
Fakokunde, who had a valid visitor’s visa on him, was arrested after telling a lie that failed to pan out. He had told U.S. authorities he was headed to Philadelphia to attend the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference.
