Mikel will never do that but will play simple passes to keep possession. For a possessive coach, Mikel will get a thumbs up, for an attacking coach, Mikel will get a thumbs down.

I watched Pastore, Verrati and Adrien Rabiot go through Matic repeatedly but that won't happen to Mikel.

However, Mikel is not a tackler and Mikel does not express himself skillfully unless he has a defensive midfielder shielding him. So Mikel vs Matic is a preference of style.

They are both solid defensive midfielders but I prefer Mikel because he shields the defence better and gives the attacking players opportunity to express themselves.
