WHY THE PRESIDENT USES THE FLAG WITH THE COAT OF ARM ON IT.
1. Distinction of Office (Presidential Standard)

The flag with the coat of arms is known as the Presidential Standard. It is a variation of the national flag used specifically by the President of Nigeria. The coat of arms in the center signifies that the flag represents the office of the President, not just the country in general.

This version is flown or displayed:

At the President’s official residence (e.g., Aso Rock).

On vehicles, aircraft, or podiums when the President is present.

At international or state functions involving the President.


2. National Flag vs. Presidential Flag

The national flag (green-white-green, without the coat of arms) represents Nigeria as a nation and is used by the general public, institutions, and at most official events.

The Presidential version (with the coat of arms) represents the authority of the President specifically.


This practice aligns with global norms. Many countries have a modified version of the national flag for their heads of state or military leaders (e.g., the U.S. Presidential Seal on the U.S. flag, or the UK Royal Standard for the monarch).

ARE GOVERNORS PERMITTED TO USE THAT FLAG?
No, state governors in Nigeria are not authorized to use the national flag with the coat of arms on the white stripe—that version is reserved exclusively for the President and represents the federal executive authority.

VERDICT: Buhari was right to use the flag with the coat of arm on it. Obi and Sanwo Olu were wrong to use the flag with the coat of arm on it.

CORRECTIONAL SERVICE STAFF ATTEMPT'S TO COMMIT SUICIDE IN GUSAU.

A Correctional Service Staff ABDULLAHI NURA , Chief Correctional Assistant (CCA) Serving with medium Security Custodial Center Gusau has attempted to commit suicide at the largest and deepest Gusau Dam located in the metropolis of Zamfara State, at the early hours of today Wednesday 11th June,2025.

Report says, Abdullahi Nura reported to his station before hiring a bike man that took him to the scene of the incident, on dropping, he suddenly jumped in to the Dam to kill himself for a reason Best known to him.

The report added that, while the motorcyclist alerted Staff and security guards of the Dam site, the Correctional service Staff was rescued.

It stated that the rescue team discovered him in service uniform, alongside his service ID card, and informed the Nigerian Correctional Service State headquarters for their quick response and intervention.

In a quick response, The State Correctional Controller CCS Musa Tanko, dispatched a team of staff that took him to MSCC medical clinic in Gusau, where he is currently responding to medical attention.

The report further indicates that he is under medical treatment at the moment and he is getting better as he has since regained his consciousness.
