I'm wondering why people don't because I found out a while ago I have Fulani heritage but nowhere did I see anyone mention they were a different race to other Nigerians? But it seems southern Nigerians don't see them as the same race a few times I heard they were called the Arabs up north? Or that long ago or sometimes Africans see them as "white". But like as a pet name.... Not actual Caucasian people. I literally recently found out fulani's of Nigeria and so forth aren't even sub-Saharan African and they're native to the southern shore of the Sahara. And that anthropologist put fulani's in the Caucasian race as the northern/western hamitic race alongside other north Africans. I'm like about 75% fulani/Tuareg and I honestly feel like me and much of my family would often be perceived as middle eastern or sand* with racist hardly ever perceived as other Africans who were sub-Saharan. And that's among black people. It's weird too because when you bring up east Africans or fulani's or north Africans being different from black subsaharan Africans some black people seem offended by recognizing a difference. I don't see sub-Saharan African ancestry or features as less than they're beautiful but I also think personal experiences and personal phenotypes are different and it's important to recognize that especially since fulani's aren't place in the same race even legally since black is specifically for sub-Saharan Africans and fulanis are extremely southern saharans who have throughout history been placed as Caucasian due to the cranial structure similarities. I have to say lastly I've noticed white people pay attention more to cranial structure and hair texture than skin tone that's how they place Asian Indian an and mestizo Caucasian and black populations in different categories even if we're the same color. I've talked to Nigerians who do act like fulani's are racially different as well. Anytime I told a Nigerian I was about half Nigerian descent they didn't think I belonged and acted like northern Fulani we're a whole different race of people. Anywho whatdo you think? Did you always see fulani's as a separate race? Did you know they were/are technically put in a different race than sub-Saharan Africans? And ps I'm not talking about black subsaharan Africans who were raised in Fulani culture but actual genetic fulani's.
