Nothing is wrong with the phone....
Concerning the keyboard issue, u need to install swiftkey keyboard and you're good to go.

On a normal sense it's not possible.
The best way I conserve my battery for is that I use the POWER SAVE Mode... Turn on the power saving mode.. It will set your phone to vibration.. You can remove it... And put it in general mode...
Reduce the the Backlight display.... And you're good to go
