#Startup is the trending thing among many #techpreneurs in Nigeria, including the undergraduates and young graduates who find this "modern entrepreneurship" most appealing. Hence, we're all connected to startups one way or the other. Mention any course and they will list a thousand careers for you. It usually starts with "you can work anywhere" Someone have listed some of Physics branches: 1. geophysics 2. medical physics 3. nuclear physics 4. physics electronics 5. econo-physics 6. mechanical physics 7. astronomical physics 8. biophysics Another person will come and list hundred careers in Physics. But, pause! Where are those jobs in Nigeria? How many per year if any at all. Don't be deceived! Even in developed countries, some fields of study don't have good opportunities, how much more in Nigeria where there is no job for those that studied the so called lucrative courses? Personally speaking, unless you have your personal target or you just don't care, don't fo for "theory courses" in Nigeria. If you love Physics so much, go for engineering. Engineering is basically application of Physics and Mathematics. This not to say that studying engineering is a guarantee of getting a job, story! However, the engineer has more opportunities (and wider areas he can fit in) compared to. Advice from an engineering graduate who is crazy about Physics. Applied for Physics and Industrial physics (UniZik), but went back and changed it to Mechanical engineering (UNN). Using one stone to kill two birds. |
Don't be so much in a hurry to jump in because some amount of money ha been quoted You think money are being dashed out for nothing?Cool down, think about these careers. What will it take? How long to get to a level that companies will hire and pay you well? I'm not trying to discourage you, rather, I'm trying to urge you to give it a little thought before making the move. This is a nice post by the op. Well done. Hustlers now talking web design and some are already advertising "web design bootcamp" . If you like, go there and waste your money. There are only few of these web design "institutes" that give what is needed unfortunately, I don't know any. All I see are hustlers. Forget the magic of beautiful CSS backgrounds they will teach you. That's just a starting point. I have been there, 5 years ago, web development training! Note, "development"! But, it was all magic.A lot of you don't even know what you need: design or development or both. What's the difference? Before you go for that "Web Design" HTML/CSS marathon, go back to the post, read it carefully this time. Search online for the right path to take. Most of those things has to do with dev, not web design. Developers usually use codes to implement solutions. Solutions are usually the big tasks. In other words, they are also good programmers and developers. Being a good developer isn't a day job. Granted, you can start learning web design today and "graduate" next week. Congratulations! After all, you can create a website. But, a programmer's journey is usually longer. Tip: if there are sk many people jumping into web design these day, why not go for development/programming? Mobile, Desktop, Web dev, etc. |
Nerdychukz:You are the one wallowing in ignorance. Someone wants figures/statistical answers an you are here banking on faith if I may say. An informed person knows when to face realities |
The great thing about making money with digital products (eBooks for example) is that you don't run out of copies. The big task is in knowing how to make an eBook that sells and you can be sure of steady income even in a couple of years to come. One thing I have noticed about some people who are good with writing is that they are not good with web stuff, including packaging, promotion, optimizations, etc. Making money with ebooks is not just about being a good writer. It involves a couple of other things including: @ Choosing the right niche for your eBook @ Packaging your eBook as a great product it really is @ knowing maximum eBook size that won't hurt your efforts @ proper keywords research @ promoting your eBook @ where to sell your ebooks @ etc. You see, the thing is, if you really want to make money from your ebooks or even that of someone else, there are few tricks you have to know. Nothing complicated but, if you ignore them you may find it difficult to se even up to 100 copies. Whatever it is you want to write on, be it cooking, make-up, fiction, business, romance, etc., knowing those essential things apart from writing will shoot you up to success. Consequently, I urge everyone who wish to make money with ebooks to read this awesome tips in details that will help you make ebooks that sell: https://www.dontro.com/make-ebooks-sell-make-real-money/ |
@op, but how did you arrive at this conclusion because I thought many people hate bank "marketing" jobs? It is like selling Tianshi or Philippines herbal tea. Personally, the most attractive section in bank jobs is the ICT section. Not selling Chinese herbal tea, abi "marketing" |

Honestly, I don't buy the idea of a self acclaimed web developer with just HTML, CSS, & very basic JS WEBSITES as portfolio. Some simply show WordPress websites they put together with free themes. Methinks a web developer should show at least one or two web applications in his portfolio, not just simple websites. By the way, many web developers can mix together a website in 3 hours. This means 4 to 8 portfolio in one day. And someone is showing 5 of such simple websites as his portfolio? I'm not impressed. Just my opinion sha.... No try ask me my own portfolio. |

Bros there are 4 distinct programming languages in this your list, namely JavaScript, Java, C# and PHP. Being PROFICIENT in those 4 programming languages to the level of calling yourself a professional/experienced developer will take a couple of years. Also, WordPress DEVELOPMENT? I don't know about you but I think it is another thing many developers find challenging. It is equivalent to learning a programming language. Unless you mean modifying a theme or creating a JAMB admission calcuator plugin I created one morning before leaving house. Maybe my mistake hear is trying to look beyond keywords and syntax. Maybe it is that I imagine database design instead of SQL syntax. I mean, CREATE TABLE foo IF NOT EXISTS.... doesn't mean one knows database... segbolon: |
