For me the best thing Buhari did was to ban codeine, for he saved alot of lives |
Muhammadu Buhari was reported to have travelled to the UK in April for a routine medical check-up but subsequently fell ill Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari, who has died age 82 in a London clinic, was a former military ruler and self-styled converted democrat who returned to power through elections but struggled to convince Nigerians he could deliver on the change he promised. Never a natural politician, he was seen as aloof and austere. But he retained a reputation for personal honesty - a rare feat for a politician in Nigeria. After three failed attempts, Buhari achieved a historic victory in 2015, becoming the country's first opposition candidate to defeat an incumbent. In 2019, he was re-elected for another four-year term. Buhari had always been popular among the poor of the north (known as the "talakawa" in the Hausa language) but for the 2015 campaign, he had the advantage of a united opposition grouping behind him. Many of those who supported him thought his military background and disciplinarian credentials were what the country needed to get to grips with the Islamist insurgency in the north. Buhari also promised to tackle corruption and nepotism in government, and create employment opportunities for young Nigerians. But his time in office coincided with a slump in global oil prices and the country's worst economic crisis in decades. His administration also came under fire for its handling of insecurity. While campaigning he had promised to defeat the Islamist militant group Boko Haram. But the group remains a threat and one of its factions is now affiliated to the so-called Islamic State group. There was also an upsurge in deadly clashes between farmers and ethnic Fulani herders in central Nigeria. Mr Buhari, a Fulani, was accused of not being tough enough on the herders or doing enough to stop the crisis. The activities of so-called bandits in the north-western part of the country saw the abduction of hundreds of secondary school students. Under his watch armed forces were accused of human rights abuses - like opening fire on anti-police brutality protesters at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos in October 2020. Who was Muhammadu Buhari? Muhammadu Buhari was born in December 1942 in Daura in Katsina state in the far north of Nigeria, near the border with Niger. At the time, Nigeria was controlled by the British and it would be another 18 years before the country gained independence. Buhari's father, who died when he was four, was Fulani, while his mother, who brought him up, was Kanuri. In a 2012 interview, Buhari spoke of being his father's 23rd child and his mother's 13th. He said his only recollection of his father was of the two of them and one of his half-brothers being thrown from the back of a horse. Recent social media claims that Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa gifted brand-new SUVs to players and officials of Kano Pillars FC have been confirmed to be entirely false. The rumour, which surfaced first on X (formerly Twitter), alleged that Musa marked his appointment as General Manager of the club by distributing luxury Land Cruiser vehicles. The story quickly gained traction, earning Musa praise for a gesture that, as it turns out, never happened. In a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday, SportsRation correspondent Nsikakabasi Akpan called out the rumour, urging Nigerians to disregard the false report. When you come across news that Ahmed Musa has bought cars for all Kano Pillars FC players and officials, type FAKE NEWS,” Akpan wrote. “Musa only took over as General Manager yesterday and promised to lead the club back to its glory days. He did not gift cars to players and officials.” He further explained that the club is currently conducting player screening ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season, and no such lavish handout had been made. Our independent investigation confirms this. Club sources also described the viral claim as baseless, labelling it a deliberate attempt to mislead fans and generate social media attention. A player who is currently with Kano Pillars for preseason firmly denied the reports: “ It’s a big lie, I am here with Pillars and there is nothing like that” Chimeremenze Celestine said in a comment monitored by SportsRation. A photo circulating online, supposedly showing the SUVs, has also been found to be recycled from unrelated events. The incident highlights a growing concern over misinformation, particularly around high-profile figures such as Musa, whose popularity and influence often make him a target for fake news. Musa, 31, resumed duties officially as Kano Pillars General Manager on Monday, July 7. In his remarks, he expressed his commitment to repositioning the four-time Nigerian league champions and did not mention or announce any car giveaway. Fans and the public are urged to verify stories before sharing, especially as Musa’s transition from player to administrator draws increased public interest. The club has not issued an official statement about the false report, but Musa’s focus remains firmly on leading Kano Pillars into a new era.

Everybody in Hollywood does what Diddy did, but why him? That video of him beating Cassie was hidden for 10 years, why was it released now? He was punished by the illuminati |
🎙️ Diddy Verdict: A Split Decision in a High-Stakes Trial The jury in the federal trial of music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs reached a mixed verdict this morning, delivering a decisive ruling on some charges while remaining undecided on a key accusation. ⚖️ What the Jury Decided Not guilty on both counts of sex trafficking — acquittals on allegations related to Casandra "Cassie" Ventura and another woman known as "Jane." Not guilty on the most serious charge: racketeering conspiracy under the RICO Act. Guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution (“Mann Act” violations), one linked to Ventura and another to “Jane.” Each conviction carries up to 10 years in prison. 📝 Deliberation Process & Jury Dynamics The jury, composed of 12 members (eight men and four women), spent roughly 13–14 hours deliberating over two days before reaching their conclusion. They initially reported being deadlocked on the racketeering charge, prompting the judge to issue an Allen charge (to encourage consensus), but ultimately they acquitted on the RICO count. 💥 Importance of the Verdict The racketeering acquittal is a major win for Combs, as it clears him of accusations that he led a criminal enterprise spanning decades — involving violence, kidnapping, bribery, and organized sexual exploitation. Convictions on the prostitution charges are still serious criminal verdicts—each potentially carrying up to 10 years. Combined, Combs faces up to 20 years in prison, though actual sentencing is at the judge's discretion. 🔍 What Came Out at Trial Over seven weeks of testimony, more than 30 witnesses provided graphic and intense accounts of incidents including violent “freak-offs,” threats, physical abuse, and the alleged use of drugs to maintain control. Cassie Ventura’s testimony was especially harrowing, detailing physical abuse captured on video in hotel corridors and a broader pattern of coercive behavior. Combs did not testify, and his legal team chose not to call witnesses. Their defense centered on the claim that all encounters were consensual, portraying the situation as part of a private, swinging lifestyle rather than a criminal conspiracy. ⚠️ What's Next? Sentencing: With convictions on two federal counts, Combs faces up to 20 years. His fate rests with the judge, and legal analysts expect a lengthy sentence given the gravity and number of charges—though sentences often fall below the statutory maximum. Potential Appeal: The stark split between acquittals and convictions could fuel appeals—even if racketeering charges are no longer in play. Broader legal implications: This case concludes one major proceeding, but Combs is still facing over 150 lawsuits and civil claims from alleged victims. --- 🧭 Final Take This landmark trial underscores a complicated reality: the jury found compelling evidence of Combs transporting individuals for prostitution but was not persuaded that his actions constituted a broader criminal enterprise or sex trafficking operation. As the case transitions from courtroom drama to sentencing and appeals, the industry—and public—will continue to grapple with its impactful consequences, both legally and culturally.
