Whoever told you that 5 years of French (elective) lessons at school is enough to be an authority in French?

The standard French expression for "I have a headache" is J'ai mal à la tête. Dunno whatever you're talking about singular and plural here. J'ai un mal de tete is, at best, a transliteration (direct literal translation from the English statement) and at worst, pigdin French (like some speak in Cameroun).

Go and learn the rules.
