PoliticsRe: Set Me Free, I Won’t Return To Detention — Nnamdi Kanu Tells Court by drerocker: 2:03pm On Nov 04, 2025
Metrix147:
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Tuesday made an emotional plea before the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding his immediate release while insisting that he would not return to detention, ABN TV reports.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c2NBbHDz1Q
Kanu, who is representing himself after sacking his legal team, addressed the court directly, stating: “Set me free. I will not go back to detention because there is no valid charge against me.”

The IPOB leader maintained that his continued trial is baseless and violates both domestic law and international treaties. He argued that there is no existing charge known to Nigerian law that warrants his ongoing incarceration or prosecution.

The dramatic courtroom exchange came after the court overruled Kanu’s no-case submission and directed him to either enter his defence or file a final written address. Instead, Kanu submitted a motion and affidavit insisting that the case lacks legal merit.

Prosecuting counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), urged the court to treat Kanu’s filings as his final written address and move to judgment. He accused the defendant of attempting to delay proceedings and manipulate the judicial process.

However, Justice James Omotosho held that Kanu’s documents would be considered during judgment and granted him additional time to either defend himself or properly consult legal experts.

The matter was adjourned to November 5, 2025, with the court warning that if Kanu fails to open his defence, he will be deemed to have waived his right to do so.

Kanu has been in detention since June 2021 following his extraordinary rendition from Kenya. His trial continues to generate widespread national and international attention.

“Tell Me The Law!” – Nnamdi Kanu’s Fiery Challenge Leaves Justice Omotosho Silent In Terrorism Trial

EXCLUSIVE COURTROOM DRAMA: Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, turns the tables on Justice James Omotosho with two unanswered questions that left the entire courtroom silent.

“Tell me the law under which I am being prosecuted.”
“In which law are you trying me?”

Judge’s Response? “I will tell you at the end of the trial.”

Kanu’s Instant Rebuttal: “I will enter defense — but only after the judge explains the law!”

This is not a trial — it’s a legal showdown.

BusinessRe: Walmart Reveals First Store On African Soil - PICTURES by drerocker: 3:43am On Oct 17, 2025
RandDigital:
The store, located at Fourways Mall in Johannesburg, replaces the former Game outlet and represents the company’s first visible branding effort since acquiring local retail group Massmart.

Walmart first bought a 51% stake in Massmart in 2010 and completed full ownership in 2022, delisting it from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange shortly after.
Come to Nigeria n replace ShopRite its dying

The rebranding marks a new chapter for the U.S. giant, which had long relied on Massmart’s brands, Makro, Game, and Builders, to navigate South Africa’s complex retail landscape.

“This move is part of Walmart’s strategy to localise while leveraging its global expertise in logistics and pricing,” analysts told Bloomberg, adding that the group’s Every Day Low Price (EDLP) model will target South Africa’s cost-conscious consumers.

Walmart’s push comes amid a fiercely competitive market dominated by Shoprite, Woolworths, Pick n Pay, SPAR, and others.

Yet, the company appears unfazed. Its entry aligns with the retailer’s global playbook: start local, scale quickly, and offer unbeatable prices.

More Walmart-branded stores are expected to roll out across the country in the coming weeks, with the company signaling plans to strengthen both its physical and online retail presence.

According to the Online Retail in South Africa 2025 report, the country’s e-commerce sector is growing at 38% annually, is now valued at about $7 billion, and is projected to capture 10% of the retail market this year.

Analysts say Walmart’s renewed investment, rather than retreat, shows long-term confidence in Africa’s retail potential.

As one put it: “Walmart’s story in South Africa is no longer about survival. It’s about scale, strategy, and a renewed bet on Africa’s middle class.”

Just listen to yourself, he jumped bail when his house was attacked, if it is you will you stand, is only a tree that you will tell that you will cut it and it will still be standing.
Nonsense!

See what Ahmed Musa Husaini

"If Omoyele Sowore , a legal resident of the United States, were to utter even a fraction of the hateful and violent incitement propagated by Nnamdi Kanu, he would likely be in jail—notwithstanding America's strong First Amendment protections.

This is not mere speculation. Simon Ekpa is currently serving a prison sentence in Finland, a European nation renowned for its strong free speech principles, for amplifying Kanu's toxic campaign of bigotry and incitement.

As I have written extensively on MNK’s case in the past, the right to self-determination does not extend to incitement to hatred and violence. There is no legitimate basis for Kanu's campaign of violence other than his own selfish ambition to use chaos as a political ladder in the South-East.

I respect Sowore's work, and even in our disagreements, I have never doubted his intentions. However, on this issue, it is clear he has a personal agenda. One cannot simply ignore tons of evidence and the profound suffering of thousands of victims of Kanu's violent and dehumanizing campaign.

As for Atiku Abubakar, his stance speaks volumes about his political desperation and lack of tact. Some may argue he is merely calling for Kanu's no-case release or "due prosecution” if the government has a case to prove. If so, why does he not extend the same sympathy to the countless other Nigerians detained without a speedy trial? His selective application of concern for judicial due process reveals a cynical, politically motivated agenda.

Fact is, politics is the only thing shielding Nnamdi Kanu from suffering the same fate as Simon Ekpa. Successive Nigerian administrations - from Buhari to Tinubu - have leveraged his case for political capital. MNK will likely be released sooner rather than later, not because he is innocent, but because our leaders prioritize short-term political calculations over long-term national stability.

Let us be clear: Nnamdi Kanu is no innocent detainee nor prisoner of conscience. He is a purveyor of hate whose campaigns of violence and bigotry have led to the deaths of innocent Nigerians. To portray him as simply a victim of arbitrary detention and rendition dishonors the collective suffering and memory of his thousands of victims, the majority of whom are south-easterners themselves."

CommentatorPro:
Nigeria is a country blessed with talent, resources, and resilience — yet it continues to struggle under the weight of bad leadership, corruption, and poor governance. From unreliable electricity to the rising cost of living, it sometimes feels like every sector is crying out for help.

Now imagine this: you suddenly become the President of Nigeria — but only for one week. You have full control to make key decisions, sign executive orders, and implement reforms. No bureaucracy, no political godfathers — just seven days to make a difference.

What would you fix first?

Would you focus on the economy, to bring down the price of food and fuel?
Would you tackle security, ensuring that citizens can travel freely without fear of bandits or kidnappers?
Or maybe you’d go straight to education, reviving schools, paying teachers well, and making universities work again?

Some Nigerians say they would start by cutting government salaries and reducing the cost of governance. Others believe the first step should be arresting corrupt politicians and recovering looted funds. A few even argue that constitutional reform is the only real solution to Nigeria’s endless cycle of problems.

Whatever your opinion, one thing is clear — most Nigerians know exactly what they want fixed; they just haven’t had the power to do it.

So, let’s hear from you
If you had just one week as Nigeria’s President, with total authority to act, what’s the first thing you’d change and why?
