EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu Government Gifts Each Governor Joining APC N250billion, Senator N1billion, Rep Member N500million For Defection The Bola Tinubu's Presidency has been accused of a massive financial inducement scheme engineered to lure opposition governors and lawmakers into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Top sources within the Presidency told SaharaReporters on Friday that the ongoing wave of defections from opposition parties to the APC is being powered by jaw-dropping financial packages, coordinated directly from the Presidency and supervised by senior government officials around Tinubu.
According to the sources, each state governor who has recently defected to the APC got a total package of N250billion.
"This money is released in two tranches; there is a N100 billion “grant” upfront once commitment is shown, and a balance of N150 billion after the formal defection ceremony," one of the sources revealed.
“So, the state governors defecting to APC get a total N250billion, senators N1billion, and members of the House of Representatives N500million,” he said.
Recently, the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Obovrevwori, have all dumped the opposition party, PDP, to join the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Governor Mbah, announcing his defection in October, had said the move was driven by his desire to better serve the people of Enugu and align with the APC’s “vision for development and progress.”
The governor had expressed confidence that the APC platform would enable stronger collaboration and open new opportunities for growth in the state.
He also thanked his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for its support over the years but described his defection as a necessary step toward realising his administration’s goals.
“To the Peoples Democratic Party which provided us the platform on which we campaigned and won, I extend deep gratitude. The PDP supported us through a demanding campaign and joined us in celebrating the victory,” he was quoted.
“Leadership demands difficult, even painful decisions, in the service of higher principles and goals. And there comes always a time where everyone must make a bold choice to determine their destiny. “Today after a long reflection, we have made a decision to join the All Progressives Congress.”
SaharaReporters had also in first week of November reported that the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), ending weeks of intense speculation and signalling a major political realignment in the South-South region.
Thousands of supporters and APC loyalists had flooded Yenagoa in a carnival-like procession to welcome Diri into the APC fold.
The event drew political figures including Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, and Minister of Regional Development Abubakar Momoh.
Diri had claimed he left the PDP “in the best interest of the state.”
“Somebody had to take the decision (to leave the PDP), and I took it on behalf of the state. I took it in the best interest of Bayelsa. Some of you might not understand now, but later it will be clear to all,” Diri said.
He noted that politics should be about development and not destruction, adding that peace and unity remain the foundation of Bayelsa’s progress.
“The peace and security we are enjoying is another reason to thank God. Politics is for development and not to kill your brother,” he added.
With his defection, Diri becomes the 25th governor under the APC and the fourth PDP governor to switch allegiance this year, following the footsteps of Governors Oborevwori (Delta), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), and Peter Mbah (Enugu).

Top Key Points Historic Appointment: President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. John Nwabueze as Nigeria’s first Tax Ombudsman, in line with the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2025, marking a major milestone in the nation’s fiscal governance framework.
Purpose of the Office: The Office of the Tax Ombudsman was created to enhance transparency, accountability, and fairness in the tax system by providing an independent mechanism for resolving disputes between taxpayers and revenue authorities.
Role: The ombudsman will act as a watchdog against abuse of power by tax officials, helping to reduce arbitrary decisions, boost taxpayer confidence, and encourage voluntary compliance with tax laws.
Dr. Nwabueze’s Credentials: He brings decades of experience in tax policy, fiscal reform, and economic governance, having served as a Technical Adviser to Senate Committees and to the Chief Economic Adviser under President Obasanjo. His academic background includes a Doctorate in Public Administration (Finance), a Master’s in Accounting, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Mathematics.
Tinubu’s Reform Agenda: The appointment aligns with President Tinubu’s broader fiscal reform drive, aimed at rebuilding public trust in Nigeria’s revenue system, reducing leakages, and improving service delivery across tax institutions.
Immediate Priorities: Dr. Nwabueze’s first tasks include establishing the new office’s institutional framework, developing complaint-resolution procedures, and collaborating with the FIRS, Customs Service, and state revenue bodies to harmonize tax processes.
Alignment with Global Standards: The move brings Nigeria in line with international best practices, where similar ombudsman offices exist to balance revenue collection with taxpayer rights, a key step toward a more business-friendly and transparent tax environment.
The Federal Government has appointed Dr. John Nwabueze as Nigeria’s first Tax Ombudsman, in line with the provisions of the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2025.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the appointment reflects the President’s broader fiscal reform agenda aimed at strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s revenue system and improving compliance through fairness and due process.
Dr. Nwabueze, who hails from Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, brings decades of experience spanning tax policy, fiscal reform, and economic governance.
He has served as Managing Partner of a top tax advisory firm, Technical Adviser to the Joint Senate Committees on the Federal Capital Territory and Finance, and Technical Adviser to the Chief Economic Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, among other roles in the public and private sectors.
The newly appointed ombudsman holds a Doctorate in Public Administration (Finance) from Walden University, Minneapolis, a Master’s degree in Accounting from Strayer University, Washington, D.C., and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Mathematics from the University of Jos.
Trusted to deliver In congratulating Dr. Nwabueze, President Tinubu expressed confidence in his “capacity to discharge the responsibilities of the office with integrity, diligence, and utmost professionalism.”
The Office of the Tax Ombudsman, according to the statement, has been created to strengthen transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s tax system and provide a structured mechanism for fair and impartial resolution of disputes between taxpayers and revenue authorities.
The office will handle complaints related to taxes, levies, regulatory fees, customs duties, excise matters, and related issues, ensuring that disputes are managed efficiently, impartially, and in a non-adversarial manner.
Watchdog to prevent abuse of power According to the statement, the Tax Ombudsman will also serve as a watchdog to prevent abuse of power and arbitrary decision-making by tax officials. This is expected to enhance taxpayer confidence, reduce litigation, and promote voluntary compliance with Nigeria’s tax laws.
“The creation of this office is a crucial step toward a more transparent and citizen-friendly tax administration,” the statement added. “It provides individuals and businesses a credible platform to seek redress where they believe tax authorities have acted unfairly or outside the law.”
Many have described the establishment of the office as a progressive reform that aligns Nigeria’s tax dispute resolution system with global best practices.
Similar offices exist in several advanced economies, serving as an independent oversight mechanism that balances government revenue collection with taxpayer rights.
Immediate task Dr. Nwabueze’s immediate tasks will include setting up the institutional framework of the new office, developing standard operating procedures for complaint resolution, and working closely with agencies such as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Customs Service, and state revenue authorities to streamline processes and improve coordination.
The move comes at a time when Nigeria is deepening its fiscal reforms under President Tinubu’s administration, focusing on broadening the tax base, reducing leakages, and improving service delivery across all revenue-generating institutions.
By establishing the Office of the Tax Ombudsman, the government aims to institutionalize fairness and rebuild trust between taxpayers and tax authorities, an essential step toward achieving sustainable economic growth and improving Nigeria’s investment climate.
What you should know In September, Nairametrics reported that Nigeria’s tax reform laws have been officially published in the government gazette, marking a major step in overhauling the country’s fiscal framework.
The reforms, signed into law on June 26, 2025, establish a new foundation for taxation, administration, and revenue collection in Africa’s largest economy. Confirming the publication on his official X handle, Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, noted that the new laws would modernize Nigeria’s tax system, improve compliance, and create a more business-friendly environment.

Nigeria is my country, and I love my country and extend the right hand of fellowship to the government and people of Nigeria, and to President Bola Tinubu, as the government of Nigeria works to serve Nigeria and all her people, irrespective of their ethnic, religious, and regional backgrounds.
I call on the international community to support Nigeria in achieving its security objectives by providing intelligence and other assistance, so that our gallant armed forces, who have worked arm in arm with the armed forces of the United States in places like Liberia and other conflict zones, can create a safe environment for all Nigerians.
These extremists are not just enemies of Nigerian Muslims, Christians, as well as Nigerians of other faiths, they are also threats to world peace, and Nigeria needs cooperation at this moment to deal with them, rather than confrontation.
May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and may peace, progress and prosperity continue to follow Nigeria. In Yeshua's Name.

DrMB: King Charles III has stripped his brother, Prince Andrew, of his remaining official titles and ordered his eviction from his royal residence, Royal Lodge. This decisive action follows weeks of internal and external pressure concerning Andrew’s long-standing association with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
According to the BBC, Andrew remains eighth in line to the British throne, despite losing his titles.
King Charles III has stripped his brother, Prince Andrew, of his remaining official titles and ordered his eviction from his royal residence, Royal Lodge. This decisive action follows weeks of internal and external pressure concerning Andrew’s long-standing association with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Effective immediately, the former prince will be referred to simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and is required to vacate Royal Lodge, the mansion near Windsor Castle that has been his home for more than 20 years. Buckingham Palace confirmed the decision on Thursday, stating that Andrew, who had already surrendered his use of the title Duke of York earlier this month, will now relocate to "alternative private accommodation."
The King’s decision to officially remove Prince Andrew’s titles is considered a rare and significant move within British royal history. A similar action last occurred in 1919, when Prince Ernest Augustus, a U.K. royal and Prince of Hanover, was stripped of his British titles for supporting Germany during World War I.
The long-term impact of this decision on Prince Andrew's future and his standing within the Royal Family remains uncertain.
👑 Prince Andrew, Titles, and the Epstein Scandal The Epstein scandal involving Prince Andrew centers on the Duke of York's friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, a financier convicted in 2008 of procuring a minor for prostitution, and allegations that Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked Virginia Giuffre, then aged 17, for sexual encounters with Andrew on three occasions between 2001 and 2002.[1][2] Andrew has consistently denied the claims, stating he never met Giuffre and has no recollection of the photographed event in London in March 2001 where she appears with him and Maxwell, an image Epstein reportedly took. Their association began around 1999 when Maxwell, a British socialite and Epstein's former girlfriend, introduced Andrew to Epstein during a London visit; Andrew subsequently flew on Epstein's private jet multiple times, stayed at his New York mansion, and maintained contact even after Epstein's conviction, including a 2010 meeting in New York shortly after Epstein's prison release.[1][5] The scandal intensified in 2019 following Epstein's rearrest on federal sex-trafficking charges and Giuffre's public renewal of accusations, prompting Andrew's disastrous BBC Newsnight interview where he expressed regret over the friendship but reiterated denials, leading to widespread criticism for perceived lack of empathy toward victims. https://grokipedia.com/page/Prince_Andrew_%26_the_Epstein_Scandal

Nvidia’s shares rose more than 4% on Wednesday, pushing the company past a historic $5 trillion market capitalization, making it the first publicly traded firm to reach this milestone, as reported by CNBC.
The surge highlights Nvidia’s evolution from a gaming-focused chipmaker to a central player in the artificial intelligence industry.
The stock has climbed over 50% so far in 2025, fueled by strong demand for AI processors.
CEO Jensen Huang said Nvidia expects roughly $500 billion in AI chip orders and announced plans to build seven supercomputers for the U.S. government.
“Shares of Nvidia rose more than 4% Wednesday, making the tech giant the first company to cross the $5 trillion market value threshold.
“The extraordinary milestone reflects a remarkable rise for the company, which has evolved from a niche video game processor to an integral player in the artificial intelligence boom.
“Nvidia’s stock, which closed up 5% Tuesday, has climbed more than 50% year-to-date,” the CNBC report read in part.
In a separate move, Nvidia revealed a $1 billion strategic investment in Nokia, forming a partnership to develop next-generation 6G network technology.
More insights 👇 The CNBC report highlighted that U.S. stocks, driven by excitement around AI, reached new record highs on Tuesday. Tech giants Apple and Microsoft each climbed past a $4 trillion market value as their shares gained momentum.
The sharp rise in AI-focused stocks comes amid concerns that valuations may be stretched, with some analysts warning of a potential market correction. Earlier this month, the report noted that financial institutions including the International Monetary Fund and Bank of England cautioned that global stock markets could face turbulence if investor enthusiasm for AI cools. Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood flagged the possibility of a short-term “reality check” on AI valuations but dismissed fears of an AI bubble. “If our expectations for AI … are correct, we are at the very beginning of a technology revolution,” Wood said, according to CNBC at the Saudi Arabia Future Investment Initiative.
Milestones on Nvidia’s journey to $5 trillion Nvidia’s ascent to a $5 trillion market valuation represents the culmination of decades of innovation and strategic growth. The company first crossed the $1 trillion mark in May 2023, a milestone that placed it among an elite group of technology giants, including Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon.
This achievement reflected Nvidia’s rapid expansion beyond gaming graphics into the broader world of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence. By February 2024, Nvidia’s market capitalization had doubled to $2 trillion, driven by surging demand for its AI processors and its growing influence in data centers and advanced computing. The company’s momentum continued, and on June 5, 2024, Nvidia surpassed $3 trillion, becoming the second most valuable public company in the world at the time. This milestone highlighted not only its financial success but also its emergence as a critical player shaping the future of technology.
These milestones illustrate a remarkable trajectory, from a niche GPU manufacturer to a cornerstone of the global AI revolution.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has significantly reduced the number of convicts slated for presidential pardon, cutting the list from 175 to just 34. The decision follows widespread public criticism over the inclusion of individuals convicted of serious crimes such as murder, kidnapping, and drug-related offences.
In a statement released on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu formally exercised his constitutional power of prerogative of mercy by signing the instruments of release for the revised list of beneficiaries. According to Onanuga, the President’s action was guided by consultations with the Council of State and feedback from the public. The review was conducted under the discretionary powers granted by Section 175(1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“Consequently, certain persons convicted of serious crimes such as kidnapping, drug-related offences, human trafficking, fraud, unlawful possession of firearms/arms dealing, etc., were deleted from the list. Others who had been hitherto pardoned in the old list had their sentences commuted,” the statement read.
Justice, security, and public sentiment The presidency emphasized that the decision was influenced by the gravity of the offences, national security concerns, and the need to respect the sentiments of crime victims and society at large.
“This action became necessary in view of the seriousness and security implications of some of the offences, the need to be sensitive to the feelings of the victims of the crimes and society in general, the need to boost the morale of law enforcement agencies and adherence to bilateral obligations. The concept of justice as a three-way traffic for the Accused, the Victim, and the State/Society also guided the review,” Onanuga added.
Implementation and structural reforms The revised list has been transmitted to the Nigerian Correctional Service for implementation.
In a move to improve future pardon exercises, President Tinubu ordered the relocation of the Secretariat of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties to the Federal Ministry of Justice.
Additionally, the Attorney-General of the Federation has been directed to issue new guidelines for the exercise of presidential mercy, mandating consultation with relevant prosecuting agencies to ensure only qualified individuals benefit from future clemency.
Commitment to judicial reform President Tinubu expressed appreciation for the constructive feedback from stakeholders and the public, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to comprehensive judicial reforms and enhancing the administration of justice in Nigeria.
