OPEC countries have increased oil production by 40,700 barrels per day, to 32.32 million barrels in July 2018 thanks to the contributions of such countries as Kuwait, Nigeria, UAE and Iraq, the OPEC’s August report said.

Thus, Kuwait has increased production by 78,500 to 2.8 million barrels per day, Nigeria – by 70,500, to 1.67 million barrels per day, the UAE – by 69,200, to 2.96 million barrels per day.

At the same time, production has declined in Libya, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, the report said...............

Unknown gunmen on Saturday attacked and killed a Police corporal on a stop-and-search duty with his colleagues at Kpakiama junction in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, DAILY POST can report.



It was learnt that the gunmen swooped on the policemen, who were on routine duty at the junction, opened fire and killed the corporal, and beat some of his colleagues to stupor.............

Barely one week after about eleven persons died of a suspected cholera outbreak in Bebeji Local government area of Kano State, another similar outbreak has been recorded in Gwarzo Local Government Area of the State, claiming about eight lives with 20 others hospitalised.



An eyewitness, Ibrahim Sale, said on Saturday that apart from six deaths recorded in about four villages, his neighbour’s daughter, Khadija aged 5, died on Thursday afternoon after receiving over ten drips following persistent stooling and vomiting.

Former Personal Assistant to ex-Governor Segun Oni, Mr. Bunmi Ojo and two others were on Friday’s night killed by unknown gunmen in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

It was gathered that Ojo, who is presently a Commissioner on the Board of the Federal Character Commission(FCC) in Abuja, was shot by the gunmen at about 10 pm at a viewing centre in Adebayo Area, along Iworoko in the State capital.

Identities of the two other men that were killed with him are yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

A source revealed that Ojo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) was said to have gone in company of some of his political friends to the centre before tragedy struck.

He said the gun- wielding men numbering six invaded the centre and shot the victims during a sporadic shooting................

Magistrate Banji Ayeomoni of Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, together with his son Dara, another relation and his driver were reported dead in an inferno caused by a petrol tanker spillage in Ekpoma.



An official of the court, who spoke on condition of anonymity told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Saturday, that the incident happened on Friday night close to Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Ekpoma.

The official said that the late Ayeomoni went to visit his children at Ekpoma, adding that while returning his vehicle ran into the petrol spillage of a tanker which caused fire and other vehicles behind were also affected.............
