A jury in Atlanta, Georgia United States has found a Nigerian guilty on federal charges related to hacking universities. Prosecutors said in a news release Monday that 34-year-old Olayinka Olaniyi and co-defendant 29-year-old Damilola Solomon Ibiwoye ran several phishing scams targeting employees at U.S. colleges and universities, including Georgia Tech and the University of Virginia. The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) has urged both the Federal and State Governments to pay the N10.2 billion electricity bill they owed the company. A statement issued by PHED’s Manager of Corporate Communication, Mr John Onyi, on Monday in Port Harcourt quoted the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Naveen Kapoor, as demanding the payment of the debt. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has assured his supporters and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the mandate which he said Ekiti people gave to his deputy, Kolapo Olusola Eleka, would be reclaimed through the Tribunal. The death toll of an explosion at a weapons depot in northwestern Syria has risen to 69, mostly civilians including 17 children, a monitor said Monday as search operations continued. President Muhammadu Buhari is said to be angry over last week’s sack of Lawal Daura, former Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS), by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo. The Rivers state government has confirmed the death of its Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Honourable Emmanuel Chinwenwo Aguma. R&B group Dru Hill is preparing a comeback and they just made a major announcement about the future of the group. According to a press release, they added two new members just in time for their upcoming sixth studio album, “The Second Coming. They are merging with 90’s R&B group Playa, best known for their song “Cheers 2 U.” The two new members include Jawann “Smoke” Peacock and Benjamin “Black” Bush. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos zone, yesterday, appealed to the Oyo and Osun State Governments to find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis rocking their jointly-owned Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has deplored prevailing defections by politicians from political parties ahead of 2019 general elections, saying it can affect the integrity of democracy in the country. Chairman of the congress’ chapter in Bayelsa, Mr John Ndiomu, made the remarks in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa, and urged politicians to play politics by the rules, especially by constitutional provisions. The death toll from a devastating earthquake on the Indonesian island of Lombok jumped to 319 Thursday, as strong aftershocks triggered panic among traumatised survivors waiting for aid in the worst-hit regions.
