1. BRIDESMAIDS: One of the most interesting wedding traditions remains with bridesmaids and their original purpose. Nowadays, bridesmaid dresses usually cause the most contention. However, originally bridesmaids dressed exactly the same as the bride. The purpose was to confuse evil spirits and stop them from becoming fixated on the bride, and ultimately prevent them from cursing the newlyweds.

2. WHITE BRIDAL GOWN: It was actually Queen Victoria who introduced the white wedding tradition back in 1840. Since then, women all over the world have followed her cue. Traditionally, the white wedding gown symbolized purity, innocence and chastity. Not so sure about this nowadays…and many brides are choosing other colours for their gowns.

3.THE RING FINGER: Beyonce’s "if you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it" lyrics chimes an element of ancient truth. In ancient Rome, when a man put a ring on a woman, he literally took possession of her. The ring symbolized his ownership. Additionally, ancient Romans believed the ‘Vena Amoris’ or ‘Vein of Love’ connected the left ring finger directly to the heart, which is why the wedding ring is only ever placed on this finger.

4.STAG NIGHTS: One of the oldest wedding traditions is the stag night and it hasn’t changed much since the Spartans started it in the 5th Century B.C. Stag nights are when a groom celebrates his last night as a single man. No superstitions, no evolution, just the same celebration with the same purpose and we're guessing the same outcome – MESSY.

5.BOUQUET: In ancient times, bouquets were made up of pungent herbs and spices like garlic and dill. The reason was to ward off those pesky evil spirits and prevent ill health. Fortunately times have changed and we have evolved to become a less superstitious society. Nowadays, brides carry bouquets made up of fragrant flowers as oppose to pungent herbs.

6.THROWING RICE: In ancient times, rice symbolized the seed of life. Traditionally it was thrown at the newlywed couple as they departed from the church. This gesture was to wish the couple luck, prosperity and fertility. Nowadays, it's simply seen as littering and apparently it's not so good for native birds. These days, people are replacing rice with ribbons or confetti.

7.CARRYING THE BRIDE OVER THE THRESHOLD:Traditionally speaking, there were two different reasons the groom carried the bride over the threshold. In some parts of the world it was to protect his bride from being possessed by evil spirits. Back then, brides were considered as being highly vulnerable to spirit intrusion. In other parts of the world, it was a way of preventing the bride from appearing too eager to lose her virginity. Nowadays, it’s a romantic gesture, one that we hope sticks around forever.

There are so many more interesting wedding traditions in the different parts of the world, and typically most of them spawn from our ancient ancestors’ superstitious natures.

MTN Project Fame host, Adora Oleh, has disclosed that she is not in support of cosmetic surgery which has been very rampant among ladies especially.

The presenter explained that being normal the way one has been created is better than going to make a new facial looks.

Adora although admitted that though she likes her looks now, but might change her mind in the next 15 years to have a cosmetic surgery.

“At this moment in time, I can honestly say no, but ask me again in 15 years, the answers might be yes. I’m very happy with my looks; I’ve always looked after my skin and I work hard in working out daily to try and achieve optimum health but if I had to, I’d probably opt for a number of skin care products or a non-surgical cosmetic procedure,” she added.

Controversial gospel singer, Caroline Sam better known as Maheeda, has explained that her posting of unclad pictures online is not a publicity stunt but her own way of just getting the job done.

Nigeria’s 2012 London Olympics Gold Medal winner for Great Britain Anthony Joshua did not need to go through the full rounds in professional boxing before going past his 47 year-old former British and Commonwealth champion opponent Matt Skelton on Saturday July 12.

The fight, hosted at Liverpool’s Echo Arenaadded another win to the blossoming Nigerian born 24 year-old who now has 7 straight record wins from seven professional bouts: All of the knockouts coming in the second round.

Standing at 6 ft 6, Anthony Joshua made light of Skelton in two rounds, showing no mercy at just 6 minutes, a barrage by the young Joshua who is 23 years Skelton’s junior called the referee’s attention into what could have ended up a total decimation for Matt Skelton.

''I wish I had him when he was at European level but it's a good name on my record,’’ Joshua said.

''I was looking forward to getting in there and mixing it up. Now that's out of the way it's back to the gym.

''Matt was game but the plan worked, I stuck to my jab and if I keep progressing I'll keep getting these knockouts,'' he added.

With this win, Joshua edges closer to the British Heavyweight championship, a title he has expressed his desire to contest for.

Joshua has been touted as fighting cheap opponents who could hardly stand the punching power of a fighter his build at 6ft6 and weighing nearly 240 pounds, to this he said: "It's definitely a good name on the record, there's not much point in me fighting guys I'm knocking over all the time."

His manager Eddie Hearn has already confirmed another fight date which is slated for August 30 against Ukrainian Yaroslav Zavorotnyi who only managed a 10 rounds win over his last opponent David Price, in Dublin.
