Governor Alex Otti says Abia State is negotiating to come off the national grid. If this happens, it could change the power situation in the South East.

The truth is that the South East already has the resources to power itself. Enugu has large deposits of coal, and countries like China, India and Indonesia still generate a big part of their electricity using coal. Imo State also has significant deposits of natural gas.

With these resources, the South East should be able to generate stable electricity instead of depending on Nigeria’s epileptic national grid.

The South East Development Commission should begin to focus on real development projects like regional power generation instead of always hosting fruitless seminars. Stable electricity would transform industry, businesses and daily life across the region.

The question is simple: if the resources are here, what exactly are we waiting for? ⚡
