My dad is currently in a miserable state. One of his legs is swollen. He is having issues urinating properly. A man who once looked sturdy and active, now looks lean and feeble.

In earlier years, he was known for constant womanising and drinking. He was always in debt from gambling too (fled past location).

Health complications have meant that he now spends anything he solicits on drug.

Here I am, a boy of 33, doing worse atrocities than him. I feel I am young now and I can fight off any challenge, unknowingly I am complicating issues for myself. I long to stop but hard.

I started a 33 days abstinence plan which I have failed to keep. I squandered around 70k yesterday in a brothel after getting an alert of six digits.

My addictions are: std and loperamide drugs regular intake (one to fight std and the other to fight regular stooling), up to 3 carbonated drinks daily, betting, womanising, borrowing when unable to pay, junk food and masturbation.

I remember earlier this year, with the usual talk of Ghana currency "superiority' to Naira, I had to factually prove that Ghana redenomination of her currency does not make the cedi more valuable than naira because removing zeroes does not increase a currency's spending power.

I showed, factually, a product sold in both nations, in real time, cost around 700 Naira in Nigeria whereas it's equivalent price in Ghana, converting cedis to Naira, is around 2,500 Naira.

As I said earlier, hatred of ourselves make us the biggest enemies of progress to each other.

Imagine the ignorance and self-hate making some Nigerians insist the worthless cedis is more valuable than Naira simply because the 20 cedis you mentions appears of greater value compared to her Naira equivalentof 2,816 Naira.

Yet inspect the purchasing power parity (PPP), the real determinant of a currency's strenght and measure of inflation, which shows a 20 cedis (2816 Naira) haircut in Ghana is 1500 Naira (10.65 cedis) in Nigeria.

Meaning Nigerians pay half of what Ghanaians pay for haircut. Yet self-hating Nigerians are still bashing their own nation.

Bro, shey you see why I push for regional autonomy daily? A country full of different ethnicities who hate themselves and act like enemies more than fellow citizens plus the biggest and most ignorant demarketers of each other, can never forge a great nation.

Much easier for ethnicities that love themselves to develop great regions of Nigeria instead once freed of 'one Nigeria' restrictions.

Why will states in the south east even pay vats to the federal govt when major critical infrastructures like standard railways and international airports is denied the region when loans for such projects is collected by the federal govt? Let the south east use the vats to develop themselves instead of paying it to the biased federal govt and let the states that benefits massively from the billion dollars infrastructural loans pay the vats without any grudges.

Why not stop playing the victim's card and face the problems headlong? Southeast can do better than it is if they can stop the blame game.

I read the news about Emefiele's seized 750 houses on nairaland this evening, and noticed the Minister of Housing mentioned 'Renewed Hope Homes'. Just out of curiosity, I searched it on google, and Lo and behold there are actually new homes being constructed in several states which are already available for sale for cash, or with a government loan of just 7%!. Compare that to a commercial bank mortgage that is more than 30%.

The website functions excellently and prices are much cheaper than the equivalent houses in the open market.

Yet, most Southerners, (including me until today) are not aware of these opportunities.
