Someone have said it in the super eagles thread that most African countries, especially the top ones with better players are short changing themselves by appointing mediocre coaches for their national teams. And I tend to agree. I mean, look at that Senegal team Should be making quarter finals in world cup as a worst outcome, look at the golden drogba generation of ivory coast. If an European nation had what ivory coast had then, they would have at least played a semi finals big the world cup in a worst case scenario. But African FA will be appointing coaches whose Past jobs was coaching Asec Mimosa, or failed European coaches to come and coach a team of world class players consisting of Yaya Toure, Drogba, Kolo Toure, zokora, Gervinho in his prime and the likes

It will take a while for Pulisic and Ziyech to be starting games and finishing 90mins. Odoi could play SS or wing back. We have 6 midfielders and 6 attackers but 10defenders

I admit Giroud's lack of goals or shots on target in the WC was poor for a striker, but Giroud is much more than just a striker to that team. So just because he had poor goal stats in one competition, doesn't make him useless. Football isn't one dimensional.

Do you think Deschamps is stupid to keep playing Giroud when he has players like Ben Yedder, Lacazette and Martial ( )?

Do you think the likes of Mbappe and Griezmann, the stars of the team, would perform as well with any other striker leading the line?

I think not.

He may not be the best of goal poachers, but what he renders is intangible when he's used properly, cases in point France. There aren't many better target men in the world.


And that no goal/no short on target thing is obviously a one time thing, a fluke. I can bet your two left balls that if he's somehow kept at 30years of age and he plays 10 more world cups, it will not repeat itself.
