Everything You Need to Know About the AGIP Postgraduate Scholarship Aptitude Test (2025 Guide)

If you’ve applied for the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Postgraduate Scholarship, congratulations – you’re one step closer to landing one of the most prestigious scholarships for Nigerian students in science and engineering-related fields!

But there’s one major hurdle left:
👉 The Aptitude Test.

This post is a full breakdown of what to expect, how to prepare, and how to increase your chances of getting shortlisted.

✅ What Is the AGIP Scholarship Aptitude Test?
The AGIP Scholarship Aptitude Test is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) designed to assess candidates applying for Agip’s annual postgraduate scholarship programme. It’s usually administered by reputable testing companies like Dragnet, ScholarsNG, or Cinfores depending on the year.

It serves as a filter to pick only the best-performing applicants for the final award.

📌 Test Format: What to Expect
The test typically contains questions from the following categories:

1. Numerical Reasoning
You’ll be tested on your ability to work with numbers — including percentages, ratios, speed-distance-time, and data interpretation from tables/graphs.

2. Verbal Reasoning
This assesses your understanding of written passages, grammar usage, word meanings, and sentence completion.

3. Logical/Abstract Reasoning
You may be shown patterns, sequences, or diagrams and asked to deduce the next item or spot the odd one out.

4. General/Scientific Knowledge
Depending on your course (e.g., Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geoscience, etc.), expect some course-related logic or current affairs relevant to energy, environment, and development.

💡 How to Prepare Effectively
Practice with real past questions. Many questions are repeated or follow a familiar pattern.

Use reliable study packs like those from Teststreams, or myjobtests
Time yourself — it’s a timed test, so speed + accuracy is key.

Brush up on basic formulas and shortcuts in maths and reasoning.

📅 When Is the 2025 AGIP Test?
Shortlisted candidates are typically notified via email or SMS about 1–2 weeks after applications close. The test date is usually set within a week after the invitation is sent, so check your inbox (and spam folder) regularly.

⚠️ Tips to Avoid Disqualification
Make sure your name matches exactly across your documents and application form.

Use a stable internet connection during the test (use a wired connection if possible).

Don’t attempt to cheat — your webcam and screen are monitored.

Take a screenshot of your confirmation page or invitation mail.

💬 The Agip aptitude test is not too difficult if you prepare properly. Thousands apply, but only a few make it through, so give yourself the best chance.
