Sunnynwa: Journalist: what are your plans for Inclusive development of Niger Delta?
GMB: if you look at election results. Some gave me 5% of votes while some gave me 97% This looks like rejoicing to me or are you looking for upvotes. Please, do not associate me with criminality. I am not in support of these acts of sabotage but Mohamadu Buhari ain't doing well too. You guys are blaming the victims of the pipeline bombings, instead of the criminals doing the bombing. The victims: Electricity consumers, people leaving around the immediate community, oil companies etc. These victims do not have anything to do with their grievances with Buhari. |

Why is there scarcity of dollars in Nigeria? Simply put Nigeria is not earning enough dollars to go around. Why is Nigeria not earning enough dollars like before? Nigeria's primary source of dollars is crude oil and the prize is down at the moment. Was there a time the crude oil prize was high? Yes it averaged $130 for over five years. What did Nigeria gain from the high prize? It is obvious that Nigeria did not save for the rainy day like other oil producing countries including Venezuela etc. To be continued... |

Igbiboi: You're a m.oron. The question should be: is anyone expecting Buhari to pay down de debts immediately. Are these 'debts' not amortized over a period of time? Why're the sai baba chanters so empty? Why're you guys always feeling insecure? To be honest, if you continue like this Buhari will record de worst govt in history of humankind, even Zimbabwe will be a haven compared to what will happen in Nigeria.
Gosh! Buhari should just go to work, a man never complains of any situation he finds himself. Obasanjo met a broken system, he never complained like de dullard, he instead tried his much and dashed out, also year-Adua, and GEJ met a broken system and each tried his best. One year after inauguration Buhari is yet to make any progress except to keep pointing accusing finger. Shame on you! Must you insult someone before driving home your points? |

CSTR6: The properties are irrelevant. Don't you get that? The future of generations unborn are at stake. You can keep it all. Afterall, you people claim these investments are not worth much anyway . If biafra becomes a country like south korea, then igbos would be better off and the sacrifice well worth it. Nigeria is not our own, sorry. Yours maybe, Ofcourse, you are favoured by the dysfuctionality. Just like you said, we lost it all before to a wicked nation, and we build it all up again. There is no reason why we can't replicate that again in our new country. This shows me you are living in a fantasy land. Read up all nations that had independence from their former countries, how federal assets were shared. South Sudan comes to mind. Anambra and Enugu shared assets when the state was divided. How can you tell me to forget my hard earned property outside the SE because of your separatist dream! Who will pay me for another property in the SE etc etc etc. No insult meant but I thought I was chatting with a person above 45 years. In Igbo land the same ethnic problem you raised exists. Enugu people used to call Anambra people Ndi Agbe Enu, when they were existing in one state! During the civil war every adult male was conscripted except Nnewi males and they were freely doing business. What does that tell you? You just confirmed my statement that you do not have a stake in this market, that is why you want it burnt. |

Ever wondered why the biggest stakeholders of Igbo descent don't think in your line of argument? It is because all the issues you raised exist in all countries and it does not prevent their people from developing and achieving the best they can. Have you ever thought about industrialists of Igbo descent making it big in the huge market you are giving excuses about? What do they see that you do not see? On the business side have thought about the worth of Igbo peoples holdings outside the south east? You breakaway advocates never comes up with a good enough reason for your demands. (Ojukwu's reason was the pogrom but his father told him not to cry more than the bereaved but he refused) The Igbo will be the greatest losers in a disintegrated Nigeria, the same way they lost their holdings and properties during and after the civil war. No one destroys his own, if you have a good stake in this big market you will not be calling for its destruction. I will stop here. |

CSTR6: Because they can get far much more. Of what use is your market when the potentia is limited. Isreal is not big, they are prosperous. South korea is not big, they are prosperous also. Their GDP/CAPITAL will swallow Nigeria with all her so-called large market. Beside, there is vacuum in west africa and even africa for cheap legitimate african made tech. And i believe biafra can fill the void through a decade of deliberate policy favouring industrialization and technical education. Name just one potential that is limited in this big market. |

vanbonattel: What I am looking forward to is the disintegration of this country, the Igbo people will so much soar that the world will be stunned. We shall be the fastest growing economy in the world, a business destination, sports super power, entertainment giants, diplomatic wizards and a military power pack.
Wait and see. The Igbo is already dominating in a bigger market called Nigeria. They are one of the biggest stakeholders in this big market. Why will they wish to go to a smaller one, where they will pay custom duties to export their products etc. You should be proud that Azikiwe an Igbo man is one of the founding fathers of this big market. No one destroys his own. |

Its not the end of the world. N145 is the limit but fuel could still be bought for N100. For example if NNPC filling stations get their supply from the refinery, they could decide to sell N100. Oando filling stations may get their supply from abroad and maybe selling for N120. Now competition sets in. |

bejeiodus: Could you kindly expatiate on these circumstances? It will make it easy to juxtapose what happened then and what the situation is now. The first is TRUST, many people never trusted PDP and GEJ to implement a fraud free deregulation. Second: the price of crude oil was ~ $110, the general feeling was that if oil is selling this high the government should invest the excess into infrastructure that will lower dependence on oil. Fuel for generators contribute up to 30-40 percent of total daily demand. Let me stop here. Forward 2016, people's confidence in Buhari is very high irrespective of the economic hardship. We all know the current price of crude oil. Nigerian government is loosing billions in revenue because of the dollar restrictions! Think about the customs for instance. Subsidy of any form is totally unsustainable. In fact Nigeria is broke. In reality the price has since been deregulated unofficially since the fuel shortages began, people have been buying it happily without complain. |
Politics › Re: Press Statement On Fuel Subsidy Removal In Nigeria, By Kachikwu by Etern: 6:29pm On May 11, 2016 |
bejeiodus: The statement was well worded. It was a euphemic way of announcing the removal of fuel subsidy. It is so disheartening that we would have long gone past this if today's proponents of subsidy removal had not opposed the policy four years ago. I hope Nigerians can see clearly how they were fed lies to stir up their anger against Jonathan. It is the way to go, but Nigerians need to ask those who came up with policy why they resisted the removal four years ago. The APC must apologize to Nigerians, particularly families of those who lost their lives during the subsidy protests. It is the only way of showing contrition for misleading millions of people. The circumstances surrounding the removal of subsidy 4 years ago are not the same today. |

Quakertellicus1: Ibo land and Yoruba land will never develop so long as its peoples continue to fight over how many oil wells.
Infact, both the Igbos and the Yorubas are underdeveloped because they are not developing industries that produce new and innovative goods and services.
And the same goes for EVERY OTHER TRIBE in this country. Oil discovery does not equal economic strength. Infact....you do not even control the oil price....so the money you make is always under threat of reduction. Rather.....true development comes from using what you have to develop something that is needed.....and that you can earn money from...and better still control the price.
Time we woke up from our oil induced slumber. Oil is a useless commodity. Industries and innovation and science is what will save us. You should be aware that the average age of these kids commenting here is 17 years. They know very little without good home training. Imagine insulting someone you cannot see. You cannot throw a stone into the market it could hit your mother!! |
