In the early hours of Sunday morning, many Nigerians woke up to the news that the most anticipated and well hyped nationwide protest championed by Tuface_Idibia has been cancelled. This was relayed via his social media platforms and a video on YouTube to the outrage of many Nigerians, who felt he made the wrong call, and shouldn’t have started what he could not finish. This are five reasons why I think Tuface_Idibia cancelled the Protest. Security Concerns This was the main reason Tuface_Idibia gave to why he cancelled the protest. The fear of a peaceful protest been hijacked by people who would want to turn it in favour of their selfish interest. He said in the video, the “protest is not worth the life of any Nigerian” Pressure for it Cancellation This is another reason why Tuface decided to cancel the protest. Since the announcement of the protest, he had come under serious pressure to drop the protest. Off course you know, majority of the pressure would come from the Federal Government. In the video he said “after much consultation”, he decided to drop the protest, I bet he meant to say “after much pressure”. Lack of support The lack of support here comes from politicians, NGOs and religious organization who were very quiet to the idea of the protest. Although the Governor of Ekiti, Mr. Ayodele Fayose was vocal in his support of the protest, political power house like Olusegun Obasanjo advice against it and should be left for 2019 when they can change the government if they don’t like the present administration. The only meaningful support he got came from the entertainment industry and that was all. Massive threat This he received only by himself and probably extended to part of his concerned life. He may not come to say it, but many believed, threat to his life and other things contributed massively to the cancellation of the protest. Imagine a scenario where even the police are against the constitutional right of it citizens. Fear Lastly, Tuface_Idibia was scared to move on with the protest. You could see it in his eyes in the video. You know how humans are, they back you up when the road is smooth but when it get rougher and tougher, and they vanish without goodbye and let you suffer alone. Well it is a popular saying, “It easier said than done”, that we have just witnessed that in full glory. Tuface_Idibia should have prepared properly and made adequate consultations before coming out to tell Nigerians about the protest. 9c one story OP... RIDE ON |
I went to withdraw some cash from a firstbank ATM around 12pm today, after standing under the very, very hot sun and queue for more than 2hrs, then it was my turn. I had the intention of a withdrawal, recharging my line and transfer some cash for my bro, but after withdrawing and recharging my line, i looked back and felt pity for the people behind me and especially for this man in his fifties or so staring blankly at me, i thought he was about to faint sef, so i decided to qive others chance and rejoined the line again. You won't believe what this man did, he went to the ATM and oh lord, withdrew money from like seven ATM CARDS, did alot of transfers, stood in front of the ATM and was making long calls to God knows who while making use of quickteller. After spending more than 2hrs he went and stood beside the ATM, saying 'abeq oo i never finish, make this people send me their account numbers abeq'. Hmmm MY ADVICE IS, DON'T FEEL PITY OR MERCY FOR ANYBODY WHILE DOING YOUR TRANSACTION USING ATM. DO ALL YOUR STUFF AND LEAVE. PERSON WEY GO DO WORST DEY YOUR BACK DEY LAUGH IN BURKINAFASO. |

This thread is for the female folks in the building, but guys can be of immense contribution. i was walking down the street yesterday and i overheard some group of people arguing if it is "easy for a woman to combine education and marriage" while some say it is not, many opined it is very easy, and infact very possible for any woman. while i declined the last assertion in my mind, i was thinking if i had made the wrong thought. Now people, is it easy to combine/marry education and marriage?? ![]() |

Generally in life, staying relevant and being consistent are two different spectrum. One can be consistent after some time, become irrelevant. In music, producing hit after hit and making that kind of music everybody grooves to, in his/her prime, Then gradually the shine start declining, the hit songs start fading and the struggle for been at the top level comes in, that when being relevant loops in. being relevant in the sense that with one or no hit song to remind the fans of your presence in the music scene, you still have a voice, a presence, an ego that tells everyone you’re still active in the music industry. The ‘dem mama’ crooner, have showed real consistency since his emergence to the music industry. Every eight out of ten Nigerians will boast of having one of Timaya’s song in their playlist. You can’t attend a party or event without listening to Timayas songs blasting through the speakers. This is key to the hard work of consistency Timaya puts in his music. Anytime you feel and start to ask the question “is Timaya still around?” he just pops out with a song which will eventually be a hit banger and stay pretty longer. That is how Timaya have fared for a long time now, creating a brand of music, that the art, only he masters well, broadening his fan base and keeping them on their feet by giving them the kind of music they need. I bet most Nigerians, all ages, likes or must have heard of the “aperi papa one of Bayelsa”. Image result for images timaya Now the question is, can Timaya really stay consistent till he decides to retire from music professionally? I guess the polls will much favour a NO, “everything get time” even the Bible concurs to that. Artiste like Daddy Showkey, Faze and many others, who showed consistency during their prime aren’t much relevant in the music industry right now. Most of them are suffering from the “NO HIT” syndrome no matter the kind of music they decide to sing or instrument they jump on. The music industry will be too sad to see Timaya go down that lane. Don Jazzy and 2baba aren’t much consistent this days at singing, many will argue that they are much behind their prime but on a second thought, they are still very relevant and consistent in the music industry. How is that happening? First, it is their affiliation with younger artist. Their zeal to groom, promote and see young talented artist excel in their music career. As a matter of fact, what has kept Don Jazzy in the scene now is not his own hit songs, or the songs he produced for other people outside his record label, but the hit songs the young artist he is grooming creates and features him lyrically or instrumentally. Tiwa Savage- Eminado, Dr. Sid – Surulere, Korede Bello- Godwin, D’Prince – Oga Titus and many more, to mention but a few. Image result for images timaya Secondly, they both float a record label. Mavin Records and Hypertek Digital both ring a bell to anybody who at least listens to music in Nigeria. They both have artists signed under them who are creating hit songs and making buzz around the world. This move have made them a household name in the music industry, kept them relevant and as such are seen as veterans. This they got without really recording a song. Timaya have achieved what every artist will want to achieve in their music career. He has got the fame, money, awards endorsement and keep counting. But no one has really seen the move that would keep him relevant in the music industry, eventually when the ghost of “No Hits Syndrome” comes hunting. Image result for images timaya Looking at the international music stage, Jay Z and Birdman are considered relevant owning to their entrepreneur record labels and company. ’’Roc Nation’’ and the never ending metamorphosis of Birdman’s record label name, now being ’’Rich Gang’’, all having artist doing pretty good and making big reference to their names. Another name is the legendary Dr. Dre, who the art of nurturing and bringing up successful artist, and his magical fingers on beats have placed him leagues above all in relevance in the music industry with him literally not recording a song of his own. Now, Timaya has built his own kingdom, he needs to start ruling it. Source: https://evansgist..com.ng/2016/12/rome-been-built-why-timaya-should.html#links |

Nairalanders, it is evident that the whistle blowing policy is now gaining grounds in Nigeria. Whistle blowing is an attempt to expose corruption/persons wherever it is practice. now the question is, with limited laws and security protecting journalist, who are in fact the major EXPOSERS in our society, will it really be a welcome idea especially to Journalist like you and I who go through dangers every day trying to disseminate quality information. ![]() |
