Jesus is the promised Messiah who will rule the world {Isaiah 9:6; Daniel 2:44} so what the Bible writers meant by believing in Jesus as Lord is accepting his system of rule as he was teaching his listeners what he will not tolerate in his government.
You can accept Jesus as Lord by obeying what he says without anyone using weapons to force you.
