Greener Future for European Ports

The European Horizon 2020 program will grant the Port of Antwerp €25 million for a comprehensive project looking to make European ports greener.

The Port of Antwerp-led PIONEERS consortium includes 46 stakeholders representing ports, transport operators, forwarders, knowledge institutes, technology developers, and public entities. The project's planned time frame is 5 years.

In order to reach its goal of carbon neutrality by the year 2050, the Port of Antwerp is pursuing dialogue within a wide network. PIONEERS is seen as a perfect platform for reaching innovative solutions.

“Port of Antwerp aims to be the first world port that reconciles economy, people and climate. In order to be climate-neutral by 2050, we need to act now,” CEO Jacques Vandermeiren said.

Ford Mustang Mach-E confirms range: slightly short of Kia Niro EV

The American brand’s electric crossover production started a few weeks ago.

The first independent electric car of the brand was the Ford Mustang Mach-E (“green” versions created on the basis of gasoline models do not count). Recall that “Mach” in the name is a reference to the name of one of the most powerful modifications of a sports car (produced in the 70s of the XX century), and “E” indicates that the car belongs to electric cars.

The presentation of the novelty took place just over a year ago as part of a special event in Los Angeles. The SUV has a coupe-like body, a plug instead of a radiator grill, on which the trademark of a classic Mustang is visible, and it is also located at the rear of the car (there is no Ford “blue oval” on the car).

Mustang Mach-E has LED headlights, panoramic roof, recognizable lights, made in the style of a sports car. There are no traditional handles on the doors: they have been replaced by buttons on the pillars (the driver or passenger needs to press them to open the doors and protrude slightly out of the openings).

Until 2017, the list also included the German brand Opel and the British Vauxhall, but they were sold to the French PSA group (now it has merged with FCA, together they formed a new major player in the market called Stellantis). Each of the brands has and is in the development of electric cars, in the near future there will be more of them.
