Following Real Madrid’s crushing defeat by PSG in their Club World Cup semi-final earlier this month, new Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has made the Spain midfielder his top priority.

Real believes that Rodri, a former Atletico player who was born in the Spanish capital and moved to the Premier League six years ago for £62.8 million, would be amenable to going “home.”
During that PSG thrashing, Alonso was taken aback by his midfield’s weaknesses as they failed to keep up with Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Fabian Ruiz’s movement and intensity.

He is now demanding that his engine room options be strengthened, and Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner who missed the last three months of the year due to the surgery, is thought to be the ideal remedy.

Alejandro Garnacho, an Argentina international, is reportedly preparing to leave Manchester United during this summer’s transfer window, and Aston Villa has emerged as the top contender.
