If she’s the one to disclose it, you’re less likely to be blamed for any backlash. But get your statement out soon after: spare the details and make it clear you want to keep your private life just that. (B) We’d discuss it and break the news together This isn’t marriage; office flings are pretty common. A Love-honey survey found less than half of workplace encounters are disclosed. “Keep it clandestine until you’ve been together for at least six weeks,” says sexual psychologis t Paul Wilson. (C) I’d be boasting about it the morning after Nor is this school. Post coital bragging aint cool. Too late? Make it clear to her friends you had feelings for her. That way tactless comments simply look like a self-defense mechanism. 2. How many women work in your office? (A) She’s the only one, but she’s more than enough The reduced pool could be clouding your judgement. Deploy distancing tactics: take separate lunch hours and put a stop to idle kitchen chitchat. If you’re uncertain about your true feelings, chances are you have none. (B) I’d say the gender split is roughly 50/50 It’s the right environment for you to make a move. Over the course of a week, note the number of times she initiates conversation with you. If it averages three or more a day – and she’s not just hassling you for sales updates – you’re clear to plan your approach. (C) It’s like a sultan’s harem and I’m Ali Baba Keep your confidence on the right side of arrogance. Make a point of learning each woman’s name and make eye contact when you speak. Research in The Economist found this makes you more approachable and popular. 3. If you met her outside work, you would... ISIS ‘Cyber Caliphate’ hacks US military’s Twitter and YouTube accounts A hacker group called Cyber Caliphate claiming to be associated with ISIS last night seized control of the Twitter and YouTube accounts of @CENTCOM, US Central Military Command. The hackers defaced the @CENTCOM Twitter account and linked to a message in Pastebin. In the message posted in Pastebin the hackers wrote: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the CyberCaliphate under the auspices of ISIS continues its CyberJihad. While the US and its satellites kill our brothers in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan we broke into your networks and personal devices and know everything about you. “You'll see no mercy infidels. ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base. With Allah's permission we are in CENTCOM now. “We won't stop! We know everything about you, your wives and children. U.S. soldiers! We're watching you!” The hackers went on to post data from army mobile devices ostensibly to prove it had access to military data. CENTCOM confirmed the hacking: “We can confirm that CENTCOM Twitter and YouTube accounts were compromised earlier today. We are taking appropriate measures to address the matter. We have no further information to provide at this time.” Central Command said that the sites were compromised for approximately 30 minutes. It said the sites were not connected to US Department of Defense websites. At the time of writing both sites were restored to their original settings. CENTCOM said it is working with law enforcement agencies to get to the bottom of the hack. The Twitter account for Centcom, the USA's central military command, was hacked last night by a group claiming to be affiliated with the self-proclaimed Islamic State, also known as ISIS. The cyber-jihadis claimed the hack was in response to the killing of their "brothers" in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, and warned American soldiers to "watch [their] backs". http://www.newstoner.com/ |
Volkswagen, Ford Win Vehicle of the Year Laurels: Volkswagen’s Golf has been declared the 2015 North American Car of the Year, and Ford Motor’s F-150 has been named the 2015 North American Truck/Utility of the Year. For the 22nd year running, a panel of jurors from newspapers, television and radio stations, magazines and websites voted to determine which vehicles were truly best of the year, and the honors were bestowed Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 57 jurors considered all vehicles introduced to the market in the last calendar year, then voted at the end of December and presented the awards in conjunction with the start of the first auto show of 2015. “Earning these awards certainly gives the automakers some bragging rights,” said Stephanie Bringley, senior analyst for the Americas at IHS Automotive VW’s Road Back For Volkswagen, winning the award for top North American Car is notable, given that sales for the German brand were down 10 percent last year, despite an overall increase of 6 percent in U.S. auto sales. The company has invested heavily in the American market and built a new plant in Tennessee, but it has struggled domestically in recent years due to a lack of new models. The last time the VW-brand won the North American Car of the Year award was in 1999, when it introduced the new Volkswagen Beetle. With this win, VW could be on the road to turning things around. The news that it had beat out the Ford Mustang and Hyundai Genesis for the top honors presented in Detroit followed its Sunday night announcement that the company had hit its goal of 10 million sales globally, four years ahead of its target date. Bridging the Golf: What may have helped the Golf stand out is the fact that VW hasn’t tried to make it a one-size-fits-all offering, and instead has widened consumer options. TOP Truck Ford’s win for Truck/Utility of the Year also could be seen as some redemption for the F-150 brand, which recently lost to the Chevrolet Colorado in Motor Trend's.... An Indain GIRL born with eight limbs is suffering from huge medical complications after undergoing an operation which saw her excess arms and legs amputated. Lakshmi Tatma, now aged nine, was showered with gifts from pilgrims who believed she was some sort of God-on-earth when she was born in 2005. Medics say the girl had a parasitic twin – an underdeveloped variant of a conjoined twin that does not have a heart or brain but often has limbs. In order to give Lakshmi's life some normality, doct ors removed her extra arms and legs after a highly-publicised operation in 2007. But when the youngster finally returned home, villagers refused to accept it was the same girl and she became an outcast together with her family. Lakshmi's health has now taken a turn for the worst as fluid is leaking from the areas where she had the limbs removed. Her father has said he cannot afford to take her back to the hospital in Bengaluru, India, for further treatment. Sambhu, who works as a labourer, said: "My daughter Lakshmi is not well. She urgently needs medical treatment. We are worried about her health problems but cannot do anything without money. "She developed this problem last year and now she cannot sit in her classroom for long due to pain. The cold weather has added to her problems." Her mother Poonam said the doctors who operated on her told her at that time that she would require another operation after eight years. "We don't know what to do for her operation to happen again," she said. Sambhu said an NGO in Rajasthan helped Lakhsmi after her unique case was widely reported by the media in 2007. New research suggests that red wine could prevent tooth decay.Spanish scientists dipped cultures of bacteria responsible for dental diseases into various liquids, and found that red wine was the most effective at removing the bacteria. The polyphenols in red wine can also prevent gum disease, and even help to treat it by reducing gum inflammation. Wine can reduce depression risk: A Spanish study carried out by the University of Navarra, which was published in the BMC Medicine journal, has found that drinking up to 15g of wine a day can reduce the risk of developing depression. The study found that those who drank two to seven glasses a week were about a third less likely to develop depression than non-drinkers. It improves your balance: Despite a tendency to stumble in the short term after excess consumption of red wine, experimentation on laboratory mice has shown that a diet rich in resveratrol – one of the antioxidants found in red wine – improved older mice’s balance over time.
