saphiere: I know someone who did 6months and still alive. Just meet the right person to do it for you.
She's alive, but is her womb alive?
Just 3 more months and she could have been a happy mother. Yes the world will talk(if it's outside wedlock) but after they get tired, she will still live her life. Smh
Very valid observation. Another danger are all those cartoons that have hidden agenda message inside them, reindoctrinating kids in ways that even their parents can't even understand. That one is more subtle, but deadly.
That building is just too close to the sea. Also, when building a house that close to the sea, do well to factor in global warming and the threats of rising sea levels.
Increases are mainly as a result of increase in prices of goods and services rather than an increase in value or purchasing power.
In 2014, a FMGC sold 1m units of a product at N100 p/u leading to a recorded revenue of N100m within a 12 month period.
Fast forward to 2024. That same FMGC sold 500k units of the same product at N500 p/u leading to a revenue of N250m within a 12 month period.
On paper, it looks fantastic, about 110% increase in revenue. But in reality, there is a drop in sales, a 50% drop in sales. It means people are buying less of that product.
The first issue is that it shows a severe drop in purchasing power of people.
Second, there is the issue of underutilisation of resources across board, man and machine. If the company produces less, then it most likely needs less workers, so people are losing jobs. Equipment become underutilised etc.
Third, the cost of production increases significantly, causing the firm to increase price of its products even more.
Fourth, while a Nigerian firm might feel it is making good money, foreign investors would see otherwise. For example, that N100m in 2014 was about $470,000. That N250m in 2024 was about $150,000. For a foreign investor, that is an over 60% loss, and the reason why some foreign firms are closing shop despite making profits in Naira terms.
Bat and his crew continue to use Deception to run government, but the masses are feeling the reality of his failures.
Too complicated for the corn people to understand.
Story doesn't make sense. Did he know the Benny, as a wrist watch dealer prior to this wedding? And why would you go to a wedding to buy wrist watches? Why not the mall or some shop?
- where most homes had pipe borne water supply - with better electricity supply - and most children were in public schools with well paid professional teachers,
unlike today when we have more individual wealth but greater collective poverty?
africaBlogworld: I do enjoy your perspective and it's refreshing. Gives me more reason to write and I will include you in my future write ups to come.
How's your app business? Are people patronizing you?
It's an online marketplace for people to buy and sell for free. It's our own contribution to facilitating ease of trade amongst Nigerians. So far so good, we are getting good traction.
Plus I also grew up in PH, so your thread was interesting too for me. Cheers.
chudez0147: If you want to leave Nigeria try save enough money and move to Europe. Nigeria is better than most of this countries you mentioned. Just that we Nigerians are loud. We make it seem like Nigeria is hell . They are only better in terms of security. Thank you for you attention
Leave them, they will never know until reality hits them in the face. Some African countries look like 80s and 90s Nigeria, with respect to development.
Arobake: Now, you are just cancelling yourself out. Weren't you the same person who said everyone, who wanted to leave the country, should head for the UK, Canada, US, Australia and maybe Germany?
Lol, life is like that. No one earns anything less than the perceived value they create or have. Even when you steal as a politician, it's because you're valuable enough to be in that circle.
What we should strive for, is creating genuine value, sell a product or service(legitimate) no matter where you are.
FreeIgboho: How about if you're in UK, Canada, US, Australia and maybe Germany and you are just tired, where would you advise the person to go?
And this leads to the ultimate point, where you go doesn't determine wether you will succeed or not. Success only comes from value creation. People in Lagos or Abuja doing legitimate businesses can even be more wealthy than someone in those first world countries. It's all about value creation, wherever you may find yourself.
africaBlogworld: Just be calming down okay... 1 cedis= 145 naira. Let go of the need to tell people what choices they have to make my brother.
Nigeria is good, Ghana is good... Everything is in your perspective.
There is no excitement here just God.... God moved Abraham from his father's land, God moved Joseph, God also moved Paul.
The motivation is God
My brother are you God that you know all.
Hey Chief, I'm not one to discourage you lol. We share zero contention for resources or objectives, so your failure or success is not my decision or concern. I'm only enlightening people that are still here, that will read your threads and make hurried decisions.
Bringing in God in such a blackmailing manner is also a bit childish. I believe I'm more of a practicing Christian than you (trust me on this), but God also asked us to be wise and also plan.
Just to further butress my point, you made mention of Ghana cedis being 145 to the naira, did you know that the cedis was rebased ( a few zeros were removed)? Do you also know that, the naira has better purchasing power than the cedis?
I wish you the best on your sojourn. And in whatever you do, please give Nigeria a good name through your actions there.
You see my point. Adenta is even like outskirts Accra and very close to Madina. When you guys get excited to leave Nigeria for places like that, I'm really curious to know what the motivating factor is.
I once was accompanied by my Ghanaian colleagues to that phone market and I saw Nigerians selling phone cases. Now did they need to leave Nigeria to go sell phone cases outside?
On that haatso kwabenya road, I once saw people using head pans to do a road construction, like head pans? In this time and age. Anyways, everyone is entitled to finding their life's path. Enjoy
Truly, we sometimes never seem to value what we have.
Ghana is peaceful and all but Nigeria is way better. I have great friends from my short vacations in Labone and Osu, however our high brow areas will easily dust theirs.
I'm not saying this as a competition thing, but seeing that people read posts like these and fantasize about a land flowing with milk and honey, it's necessary to enlighten the thread readers.
The port Harcourt OP is even coming from is way better than a lot of places in Accra, not to talk of Lagos and Abuja. We have better infrastructure too.
As per the light, our light in Nigeria (most parts) has greatly improved and is similar now to what you will obtain in Accra (if you factor in "Dumsor" or load shedding).
If you leave Accra and head to places like Kumasi and other sub regions, then you will understand that Nigeria is light years ahead of a lot of these African countries.
In summary, Ghana is a lovely country. Only go there if you have legitimate business being there. A lot of people go to foreign countries and end up in crime due to frustrations of not being able to secure a job or find something doing. Plan well before making life changing decisions you might end up regretting.
What Nigeria need is a bit of leadership and you will see that we can only be compared to just one or two countries in Africa. If you must leave Nigeria, head only to the UK, Canada, US, Australia and maybe Germany.
I'm sure you're not one if you think experience does not matter.
"Shear forces and bending moments" 😁
You sound like a 2nd year student!
It's sad that you've chosen this path of daftness. The things you learnt in your second year of engineering becomes irrelevant to your engineering practice?
Maybe I should explain how Finite element analysis is used to predict failure distribution? Or that's year 3 engineering too?
