A student visa is not a work visa. Students do their jobs everywhere. A family immigration visa is not a work visa, either. Someone who worked as a dishwasher while studying differs from someone who worked as a dishwasher on a work visa.

You started working as a dishwasher upon entry into the US. My point is, that your class of visa did it. No one who enters via a standard work visa begins to work as a dishwasher in the US. Nigerians don't qualify for the classes of visas which leads to dishwashing jobs. I have no issue with the job, but the narrative that no one can work in the same role as in Nigeria. That is possible, provided they followed the proper immigration routes.

A visit visa leads to dishwashing jobs. Anyone who does not want it should follow structured routes. We have to be honest, explicit and thorough when we put out information to the public.

Let me tell you.. You can’t come to America and immediately start with the job you were in in Nigeria. My first job in America was dishwashing. An older Nigerian who was working as a physiotherapist with the national sport ministry in Nigeria was my dishwashing coworker. We were washing dishes together on $9 per hour. This same person has traveled the world with Nigerian national team on different occasions.

When I was a corp member. We took our corper fellowship bus to ekiti from PH. We tried to overtake a mobile police pickup. They stopped our bus, asked four of us on board to come down.
